Charcoal grills, clothesline for hanging suits/ towels. floors needed a severe sweep/mop immediately upon arrival. No extra linens for pullout sofa that's seen far better days.- privacy is lacking as window curtains do not cover windows in their entirety- put up towels (neighboring Cottages are close) parking is lax as next door cabins appeared to use both sides for parking. Grounds are plentiful for kids to move about. Overall fairly priced however things like privacy are a must at any cost! read more

Stayed here in July 2021. Was informed upon check-in that the business had been sold and would be torn down and replaced with a boutique hotel. Tearing this place down will be a great improvement to say the least. We booked for 3 nights but left after the 2nd night as we were afraid of picking up a disease. The place was filthy. The coffee maker didn't work (not that I would have used it anyway), the pots & pans were filthy as well. We didn't shower the entire time there. The water pressure was non existent. The game room was locked up leaving a set of horse shoes outside for the only entertainment. Overall, the place sucked big time and was not worth 1/4 of the price. The owners had clearly given up on the place and should feel guilty taking anyone's money. Too bad, we stayed here 5-6 years ago with different owners it was great. read more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! LIke the others before me said, this was the WORST! The property was listed as "rustic". That's what we were hoping for....HAH! Our "cabin" was nothing short of a run-down shack with no curtains on the windows, rotted out wood floors, electrical wiring stapled to the walls and grass/weeds that were over a foot tall. The common lawn was filled with garbage and junk. We arrived late at night and checked out at sunup...only to be called by the GM Matthew who is now refusing to refund the remainder of our stay. This property should not be listed as inhabitable by any human at this point....it's a tear-down. I've now contacted BBB, county code enforcement, and will absolutely get the local news consumer advocate involved to prevent the property from stealing anyone else's hard-earned cash. read more

Wonderful well kept grounds right on a beautiful lake! The cabins are definitely "rustic" but are exactly as I expected. We had a great screened in porch and everything we needed for a long weekend! We took the free kayaks out twice which was great. Every night they have a campfire that everyone can use. Plus several nice beaches and ping pong and other activities. The location is great and the grounds are huge and well maintained. There is noise from the road but I don't think all cabins would experience this and it looked like all of the other places on the lake would experience this as well. It is nice being so close to town, it is very close to several large grocery stores and a number of great restaurants. Would definitely return!! read more

I have no idea how this place has over two stars. I would LOVE to see how the people who enjoyed their stays here actually live at home. Actually, no I don't. That would just be scary. We needed a dog-friendly place to stay for the Fourth of July. We waited a little too long to look for a place, so this dump is what we were left with. I have been here for less than a day, and I already cannot wait to leave. We have 4 adults and a dog, so we booked a one-bedroom cabin that says it "fits" 4-5 people. Not exactly sure how we are supposed to fit four adults on one bed and a pull out couch, both of which are completely falling apart, but luckily we brought an air mattress just in case. Every single inch of the cabin is covered with spider webs and looks like it hasn't been cleaned since it was built. I understand we are in the woods, but it takes about 3 minutes to catch all the cob webs with a broom, which should be done between tenants. The place is literally filthy. The whole place smells like mildew, rotting wood and mold. But again, it's part of the "experience" and somewhat expected when you're in the woods. However, the bathroom is totally unmanageable. The shower (aka a small plastic box that was stuck in the corner, and I'm talking SMALL) just REAKS of body odor. So much so that we have to flood the bathroom with Lysol spray every time we need to use it. Yes, inhaling chemicals is a step up from the disgusting odor coming from the bathroom. All that being said, this place is something out of a horror movie. I would imagine getting kidnapped and held hostage in a place like this, and I can't believe I paid money for this experience. I would highly suggest avoiding this place at all costs. There are plenty of other options out there, and this one should be far to the bottom of your list. read more

My only complaint is that we didn't stay long enough! This place has plenty to do right on the grounds, and its right on a lake (obviously). Paddle boats and canoes are included in your stay! It's pretty awesome. They also have a beautiful patio overlooking the lake. There's trails in the woods on the property, and a few little beaches that you can hike to. The cabin itself was adorable, and the perfect size. I love that this place doesn't fuss about the number of guests you have in the cabin, and will make a darn good effort to accommodate your group, no matter what size. We were able to sleep six of us comfortably in a one bedroom cabin, and there were plenty of pots/pans/plates/cups for all of us in the kitchen area. We loved the screened-in porch! Every cabin has one. I will definitely be returning in the spring. read more

We stayed here over the weekend. We weren't expecting much. Cabins can either be really nice with a luxurious mattress and bedding or bare-boned with just 4 walls. This was was somewhere in between. (Probably on the lower end of the "in between" side.) It did the job. We also got a great deal so we were ok with it. The cabin was furnished with whatever you need (coffee maker, kitchenette, fridge, pots/pans, dishes, towels, etc.) but it was just adequate. Our cabin doesn't seem to have ever renovated since it first opened; our screened in porch's floor was falling apart. The floors are definitely dirty (bring flip flops!). The bedroom was clean and tidy. Management's welcome letter states that they are in the process of renovating and updating the cabins. I hope so! It has potential to be a nice little place by the lakes. read more

Anchorage was very well liked until recently. Owners have decided boat slips are first come first serve without giving notice to previous owners with same slip for years asking if they want to renew first. Rented to someone else without any notification or a heads up ...No Loyalty!!! What a way to start off the season to shit on your loyal customers who have always enjoyed having a boat slip here. To boot, bed bugs were present last summer in a cabin, so here is hoping the owners will step up and get new bedding and mattresses for all cabins. It's the least they can do, since they were snakes about boat slips this upcoming summer. No longer a trustworthy place to stay in the lakes region. BEWARE!! read more

Very nice! Beautiful spot on lake winnisquam!! The cottages are definitely rustic and cozy. The location is what your here for! What an amazing location right on lake winnisquam and so close to all the summer activities that the lakes region has to offer. This by far beats staying at a run of the mill hotel! 7 of us were looking for a place to stay as the base for a bachelor party weekend based around some paint balling and power boating. We found the Anchorage at the Lake as a housing option and went for it. And it was perfect! We rented a cabin for rather low rates, and everyone got their own bed. The bathrooms were fine, the beds were fine, and the staff was courteous and helpful. There was also a very nice beach with a decent volleyball net (they provided a high-quality volleyball as well), and hanging out late into the night by the outdoor fire pit was a great time. Would definitely recommend for people looking for a place to stay in the area! read more

This is place represents how a family vacation should be! Simple cabins with just the basics give you that "outdoorsy," "camping feel," but close enough to civilization that you aren't paying to pretend to be homeless. Great for the kids, the lake is crystal clear and they let you use their kayaks and canoe's for free. You can also bring pets and they even have a separate beach where you can bring dogs. We had a 1 bedroom and with a pullout couch between 3 adult and one child. There was no TV which made us make use of all the activities you can do on the grounds. There is cell phone service though which was great. The grounds are kept up and the staff is great . They are there, but not breathing down your necks. The grocery store is close and Weirs Beach is only a 20 minute ride. Overal , Anchorage at the Lake is affordable and one of the best vacations we've ever had . We will definitely be back next year read more

I'm very surprised to see such high rating! It's a 1 star place, not even a hotel or motel. Booked this place for two nights with a price of a chic Airbnb apartment.. been traveling for years and usually very tolerant and understanding but this time is incredible.. it's very overpriced, I'd price it for $60-80/night max. Place was dirty and smelled :/ some windows were hardly closing. Heat only works in bedrooms and I had to collect all blankets from both rooms not to get frozen at night and sick. There were cub webs everywhere and dishes were dirty. I worked in house keeping in this area before and I know the difference between rustic and falling apart! Will never stay here again and don't recommend. Note: no WiFi in the rooms unless you pay extra to use it in common area. And check out is at 9am! (Normally at least 10am).. so by check in you can't clean the place in 6 hours?! read more

Great spot! Land is well kept and the rustic cottage we stayed in was clean. Management was very welcoming when we arrived even gave us treats for the dogs. Loved the option to cook on the charcoal grills outside of each cottage. There was a separate private beach where dogs were able to swim, my only complaint would be to maybe run a rake through the sand once in a while as it is in the woods. Give yourself time if you need to wash your hair, the pressure in the shower is lacking, but again, the bathroom was very clean when we arrived. We stayed two nights one night there was a total of 4 adults and two 50+ pound dogs, we all fit comfortably. I love that there are several activities offered on the grounds along with the location itself being convenient to stores, restaurants and other venues. We will definitely be back! read more

Well, my wife and I needed a place to stay while visiting our son over the weekend. I found the Anchorage at the Lake. The pictures online looked nice and it had a 4.4 star rating, so I booked it. I understood it would be a 'cabin' with no tv, but that was ok. Well, here is my review: Ok, so this weekend my wife and I went up to see our son in NH, and this was the first time, in the history of my history, that I checked in to someplace and then immediately checked OUT of that same place. We made reservations at the Anchorage at the Lake in Tilton, NH. The pictures online looked nice. It has 4.4 stars, but the 'cabin' we got was something out of Friday the 13th. We basically opened up the cabin, put some beer in the fridge, went for dinner, desperately called about 6 hotels until we found one and then drove back, grabbed our bag and the beer, dropped the key off in the 'drop box' and drove 40 minutes North to Econo Lodge (we LOVE YOU Econo Lodge!). I can't believe, even in the 'prime season', they would rent this place to anyone. If you are more than 5 feet tall and weigh more than 110 pounds, don't plan on taking a shower. Be careful opening the fridge, it might fall on top of you. Pay no attention to that thermostat on the wall. HA HA!!! There are two small plug in heaters to provide you the heat you need. And don't mind the dirt, rust and mold. It's all part of the experience. No idea how this place has 4.4 stars. read more

Great family friendly campground! The studio cabin we got for mid-week was very reasonably priced. It comes stocked with linens & some housewares (but bring your own steak or other sharp knife!) my chief complaint is with the floors- they were absolutely filthy. I'm not talking a little bit of leaves & sand; I mean built up grime that requires deep cleaning, so bring some slippers & some shower shoes. Oh, and the screens needed some minor repair on the porch. The beaches are very nice (except for some fireworks debris strewn across one section.) There are complimentary canoe & kayak rentals which were great. We also checked out a short hiking trail which was peaceful in the morning (but bring your bug spray!) I wasn't crazy about the fact that you can hear the traffic from the busy road, but the lake is so beautiful that it made up for it. They also let us do a later check-out at 11 instead of 9 for no extra charge. And our after hours check-in was very simple which was nice after a long drive. read more

This is what family type vacation should be. No electronic devices, just a beautiful lake setting, comfy cottages, boating, night camp fires, snores and memories. Angela was available for whatever we needed. The cabin was clean, had fresh towels, comfy beds and was located right near the water. Just about 15 minutes from Weir Beach and plenty of attractions near by, the Anchorage is located in just the right spot. I think that in a couple of years, with a few upgrades, this will be the place to stay at in the summer and Fall. read more

The outlets in the kitchen were always dropping, it does not have enough parking, the shower was broken, the refrigerator was not working well..... When I asked them to fix, a guy came by check it out and complained that we have more people than usual in the house, after that he COMMANDED us to GET OUT! Yes! He gave us an order as they were doing a favor for us. Come on! We paid $872.00 dollars to stay 2 nights in a crap house. I felt so humiliated ! I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE NOT EVEN TO MY ENEMIES! I WILL NOT RATE ZERO STAR, BECAUSE THE WEBSITE DOES NOT HAVE THIS CHOICE, I would if I could. I agree with the previous review, this place is just what a family vacation should be. If possible, the cabins on the beach are the best. The cabins are very comfortable with everything one needs. From the office you can rent canoes, horse shoes, and all sorts of games for free and you can also buy smore kits. We loved our two days here. Very relaxing and peaceful. read more

After a lot of searching for a wedding venue we came across the Anchorage. It was the perfect venue for what we wanted and it allowed us to have the wedding of our dreams. The staff is super helpful and will do whatever they can to help make your stay as comfortable as possible. The lake setting is amazing and they have plenty of things to do so your guests don't get bored. After we spend our big weekend here I don't think I could have imagined it being anywhere else. I understand it was advertised as rustic and that is what we expected, but rustic doesn't have to be dirty. Floors were filthy, I had to clean the toilet seat before we used it, and the shower stall left something to be desired. The supplied coffee pot had burnt coffee on the bottom, obviously not cleaned after the last guest had checked out, and the sofa bed was dirty and torn. Probably would not have been so bad if they cleaned the place. We actually observed their "cleaning crew" after the folks in a nearby cabin had left, in and out in 20 minutes! This is a wonderful place. I've been there many times over the years and lived in cabin 33 back in 82' or 83'. My mother used to run the place with my dad.(Barbara, and Pete Baldwin) I have forgotten more about the Anchorage than most will ever know. My first job was at the Rusty Anchor as a dishwasher under chef James Burke. Unfortunately the restaurant burned down not once but twice I heard, and is no longer a part. So many great eating places in the area and very close by with Tilton one way, and Laconia the other. Dog friendly was huge. Motorcycle week is incredible. The Anchorage also hosts the N.H. State Police and Bikes alternating year to year. Good times at the lake jamming on my acoustic guitar around a fire at night. The orchard is so pretty year round, and an awesome walk through. In my time there I never heard a complaint from anyone. Nothing but smiles and friends you might not have met yet. read more
