Geneva Point Center - Wonderful camp Fires at night !

Nice place with reasonable, if Spartan, living quarters. Very scenic with nice waterfront…read more Main problem is the food. It's the kind of food served at an inexpensive children's camp. And, of course, everything is overcooked. The menus don't look awful but the food is nothing to look forward to. Breakfast is OK as there is less for the kitchen to ruin. Once they served cold cuts for lunch and that was also OK. Problem is if you stay there you have to eat there as it is quite a distance to any other food. If they could fix the food, like serve food fit for adults, they would really have a great resort.

It was a family retreat I use to go to with my whole family for at least 28 years.... Then I got busy and had a family and one day I plopped my family in the car and took a day trip up there and showed them where I grew up as a child and had wonderful vacations there. If you look at there web site which I just did or go on there facebook page you will see beautiful pictures. I have gone 3 years in a row now to volunteer and help clean up and prepare for there many retreats that are hosted there. The food is awesome cooked daily ,,,breakfast , lunch and dinners !!! Young children, kids and adults would all have a great experience of trying some type of retreat there. You can even plan your own retreat by calling up there and talking to the person in charge of setting something up. It is not a place to go to be disrespectful, its a place to go for peace and fun. When you get there the beauty and scenario takes over and you are in awe of awesome the place really is. I never thought id see this on yelp but let me tell you I give it 5 stars because it deserves 5 stars !!! TRUST ME !!!! Look on there web site as I just did.. They have numerous options to choose from to have a great family vacation or other things ! Peter claypoole is the director of Geneva point center and along with his dedicated group of workers and volunteers they to a fantastic job.

Over the years, I know where I should attack yet executing is my problem. Today was one of those days. We started on 10- right out of the shoot- no warmup. I hit a very good tee shot but we couldn't find my ball. Same for the 13, 15 etc. drives straight down the middle but mountain golf being what it is- everything rolls downhill. After a while, I just gave up and laughed. Fortunately knowing the area somewhat, we went for cold beers to drown our sorrows. Nice staff but I need to realize- this course is much tougher than it's rated.

Been up at the lake for 20+ years now and golf and for some reason never took the initiative to…read moregolf here. Oh right, that new boat and private beach of ours makes me want to do well....nothing else. So I had 12 friends of mine up for a boys weekend away and to announce to the all that I was getting married again. What better way to celebrate than to golf right, it's what guys do. Well real men that is... This isn't true, golf isn't a tough sport, in fact if you are good at it, you are probably a spoiled little brat who didn't have to work hard. All bits aside, this place is gorgeous, it's 8 minutes from my house in Meredith and at the top of a hill. You pass the town recycling center, a cemetery and a bunch of beautiful homes to get to it. The fees are good, the people are kind and greens are in great shape. The course really is gorgeous, hills upon hills, greenery and some beautiful reservation type spots that have all the nature and wonder. Lot of granite and woods as well, I know this because this is where my balls usually end. I also checked out the function room for my upcoming wedding and the only thing that is preventing me from having it here is the room size, it only holds 200 and most likely 175 comfortably. That said, I will have twice that at my wedding and I am sad about this, because I absolutely loved the room. It's a barn type setting with an amazing stone fireplace in the center of it and beautiful wooded bar. It also isn't very busy for some reason, I golfed on a saturday morning at the end of June and got an 8 am tee time no problem whatsoever.

Kona Mansion Inn - Scary 70s decor

Kona Mansion Inn, you have truly outdone yourself. Never in my life have I been subjected to such…read morea horrendous lodging situation. Aside from that one time when we went camping and the tent fell down in the rain, congratulations! You are number one on my list of worst places to stay...ever! The what-would-have-been-an-otherwise-glorious-weekend started when we almost got lost trying to find the dirt path that would lead us towards the lovely "chalet" that we were staying in....you know, it's to the left of the broken down truck and past the tiny painted wooden sign that says "chalets" (what, those aren't good enough landmarks for you??) As we entered the house which was decked out in some awesome 70's style furniture (and also looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the 70's), we scrambled to claim our beds, Real World style. Luckily all the rooms were pretty much exactly the same--you know, box fans, giant bugs and the best part... slightly moist sheets. Awesome. We sucked it up though and after a while I think the place grew on us. After all, there is definitely something comical about a family of ants living on the bathroom floor and a giant hole in the ceiling stuffed with toilet paper. Sure, drinking to cope helped, but who wouldn't think that mouse droppings on the kitchen table was funny?? It wasn't until the next morning when someone noticed the blood on the bathroom wall that we knew we were staying in a truly memorable place. (Seriously, I couldn't even make this shit up people.) All is not lost though, there is one redeeming factor of Kona: the shower. With the warm water (I know, right!?) and fantastic water pressure, it was the one thing made you feel as though you weren't staying, well, at the Kona Mansion Inn. Ahhhh.... relaxation....that is until your friend comes to knock on the bathroom door: "Umm... can you hurry up, the water is dripping through the ceiling into the kitchen..." And, we're back! So the moral of the story is, who needs to camp in the rain when you can stay at the Kona Mansion Inn and get the same effect? Right, camping in the rain it is.

Not only was there a 9 hole, par 3 instead of a lawn, but a short walk away was their docks and a nice beach that was at our disposal to build a fire or just have some lunch. The hospitality and true family feel that Kevin, his son Brian, and their right-hand man, Nate showed us was nothing short of spectacular. I feel lucky to have found this place and will be back...NO DOUBT.
