The Anchorage Wolverines were playing against Fairbanks Saturday evening. Tickets are normally $25, but luckily I was able to get in for free by my co-worker's supervisor. It was a pleasant surprise and the hockey game was a lot of fun. Anchorage won 6-3. Aside from the game, the arena is very small, almost a fraction of the seating area at the Sullivan Arena, now being used as a homeless shelter during the winter. The arena was at full capacity with easily about several hundred people in attendance with more lined up against the balconies once there were no more seats. It would've been nice if both sides of the arena had seats. Otherwise, it was very cramped through the aisles and the stairways had people standing off to the side as people passed through. It reminds me of the airports when they announce that boarding has started. It wasn't that much easier when standing in line to get food from the concession stand for me and everyone else. One side had people watching from the balcony while the other side had the concession line. People were literally squeezing by in the middle just to get through. The wait in line wasn't long but it was a challenge to navigate the aisles without spilling your food and drinks. There was literally no area aside from the seats to eat your food if you are standing at the balcony with the exception of the standing counter opposite from the registers. Even then, people were lined up against the counter waiting so utilizing that wasn't an option. I decided to take one of the empty tables down by the admission area away from the crowds to eat my food. This kept me from watching the game for awhile, but since it was free I couldn't complain. Coming down to catch a game here is fun especially with the lively atmosphere and the blaring music in between faceoffs. Just be prepared to deal with very limited space when this place fills to capacity.

However rink 2 is unbearably hot which means the ice is softer than other rinks in town. The locker rooms are well-kept, but the part of town the rink is in means sometimes we find unwanted guests -and things- in the showers. Also because it shares the same parking lot as the Sullivan Areana - Sometimes parking is next to impossible if there is an Aces or Seawolves game! Overall one of my favorite rinks to play at because of the comfort for the fans, and Rink 1 has nice ice.

The most friendly owners. I ended up joining an archery league through FCA once a week for 9 weeks. It was a really fun time and I looked forward to every Wednesday coming to the shop to shoot in league. Everyone was super friendly and gave me lots of advice and pointers. I totally recommend FCA for a new person getting into archery, or wanting to get into archery. Very welcoming environment and not intimidating at all. So happy I found this place!

My pup's a runner and while he'll come back I'm not always completely sure of the havoc he'll wreak before then. I used to be able to block one area off with bits of corrugated metal and plywood, as did other park users, but then it was removed. It's not the most well kept park, and it's one of the least supported. It's a shame since it's in a good location, and off chester creek trail, but it's not as maintained as some parks in higher income areas. I still like this park enough to give it 3 stars, but if it was enclosed park it would get 5 stars.

This can also be your place. The facility is well kept and has multiple fitness rooms, a swimming pool, basketball courts, a boxing room, a spin room, racquetball courts, saunas and even a track upstairs. The best part though? This gym is free people, FREE. No cost, and offers plenty of machines, weights, space for your workout pleasure if you have access to it.

Everybody there is friendly and encouraging especially our trainers, Lela, Steph and Charlene. It is not too chatty during the workout as we are moving quickly focused and for me just trying to keep the pace...Mutual respect is required, don't be late, don't steal, don't talk while the session is being demonstrated, be nice, bring a towel and help put things away! Going on the course was always so intimidating for her so she just did lessons with the golf pro there Blake Smith and went to the range. She finally said she wanted to go and then there happened to be the player assistant from hell. We teed off at 4:20. We were hounded on every hole up to the 6th to play faster or best ball. I have played so many rounds in my life and thought we were playing super fast. I looked at the clock and it was 5:30. We had played 6 holes in 1:10. Pretty fast! The lady just saw she was hitting it 125 yards and assumed we were slow and so she needed to constantly complain. We were on the 9th hole and the new player assistant had just taken his shift, Danny. He looked down at his clipboard and noticed the time we were at and said you're on an awesome pace. I then said you should tell the other lady that because she was so constant on us that she made my wife cry on hole 3 because she didn't know any different! Danny did encourage her and make her feel better but it's terrible that I've tried so hard to push my wife to play and there are terrible employees out there like this. Finished 9 holes in 2:10

Anchorage golf course 6/12/14…read more I feel the course is in great shape considering the short season Alaska has for getting a course to a playable condition. The greens will improve with time, but they are certainly playable. I've seen a lot worse in the lower 48. The staff has obviously taken great measures to get the course in shape. Excellent fairways and rough. Extremely enjoyable pace of play. Professional and courteous staff. If I make it back before summer ends, this will be top of my list to play again.

This event facility is recently built located on Arctic Road…read more I've attended a community event, a private event, and concerts here. It is one of few Anchorage event facilities available to rent, that can hold over 150 people. Parking is ample and the building is secluded enough from neighboring homes. The facility includes a coffee shop/cafe area that you can choose to be open during your event. The facility kitchen is large and open. You have the ability to choose what spaces you want to rent, with the largest space being the gym. If your event has alcohol you will be required to rent the facility as a whole. I like that all rental information to include costs, deposits, etc is laid out clearly online. You will not need to contact anyone directly until you are ready. I believe they even have bouncy houses available to rent. Like most facilities, they have staff there watching. Sometimes they're cool, sometimes they're annoyingly saying the music is too loud when we in the crowd, can barely hear it. Gotta take the good with with the bad ya know?!

We didn't for basketball games, but for practice yes. They host Halloween events (and possibly other holiday events) that I've seen too, just haven't been able to go to them. Bathrooms and pretty much everywhere in general is clean and staff is nice.
