I first started attending classes at Anchorage Yoga when it was half the size. The main studio was as snug as the entryway in between classes. The popularity allowed for the expanded studio and a larger main studio. But what I love about Anchorage Yoga was never lost, COMMUNITY! I'm not regularly attending classes as I would want, but the community is always welcoming! Some have complained that some classes are hard to get in and are crowded; that this studio isn't like NYC, DC or LA; the classes are too hot and they sweat too much. Well, the studio is popular but we are never butting mats; this is Anchorage, Alaska; and class temperatures are listed in the description. Anchorage Yoga & Cycle is excellent and has now carried me through several Alaska winters and all stages of pregnancy. I practiced power vinyasa yoga for many years before returning to Alaska and am extremely impressed with the caliber of teachers. They are dedicated to the practice and travel the world taking teacher training provided by well-known yogis. I am thrilled by the addition of Anchorage Cycle and have thoroughly enjoyed the classes. The community offered by Anchorage Yoga & Cycle is incredible - the teachers take the time to know your name and are friendly, no matter how long it has been since you have been in class. Best drop in yoga studio I have ever experienced. Price is steep but you get what you pay for. Any review that says this place is dirty is outdated. 4 showers, everything cleaned daily, exceptionally knowledgable instructors, great variety of classes, friendly patrons. Overall an excellent community. If you are looking to push your practice to the next level, go to Melanie's bikram class, she is the reason I fell in love with this place. The wonderful experience kept me coming back, even though it is not the closest or most convenient for me. They put the extra effort into their studio, so I put in the extra effort to get there. It's awesome! Great staff, great yogis, great atmosphere, clean facility, well-managed, quality rental equipment, large variety of class offerings. I realize if I don't give you any critical feedback, you can't improve, but I'd have to get really nit-picky to point out a flaw. I just don't find myself saying, "I like AYC, but...", about the customer experience. You guys run a great facility, that doesn't happen by itself. I appreciate the efforts and I'm grateful for my time spent there. I love, love, love Anchorage Yoga. I have never before received such a great workout and yet felt so energetic afterwards. Not to mention, there is something awesome about conquering a position that you never dreamed you would be able too. I especially like how the instructors give options and tell you how to further your practice. It gives you something to work towards and it never feels like the same ole' stuff. I've been doing body sculpt yoga for 7 months . It helps me to be strong mentally and physically! I do it Mon, Wed, and Saturday religiously. I like all the teachers! I've just noticed recently during Wed and sometimes Monday classes, not certain if the heater is ON. I rather have the heater On (85 degrees) , because that's what it says on the yoga info. It helps our body to relax more and release our toxins. I really love if my body sweat a lot during yoga. I really appreciate your attention to this matter. Thank you!:) read more

First ever Yoga class was so different from what I'm used to. I'm a regular at Anchorage Cycle and the experience there is fast, loud and visual which is so different than the yoga class. Bronson was a great teacher as he was concerned about my proper position and came over a couple times to offer fixes. The class was full and there were certainly people in there at different ability levels but I felt comfortable as a beginner. Also, my two kiddos attended Kids Yoga at the same time and they loved it!! read more

I love practicing and teaching at Anchorage Yoga! The studio is beautiful and welcoming. As a restorative yoga teacher I love that the studio makes a variety of props available so that all students can experience the poses as they practice the Art of Relaxation. The environment is nourishing and offers support for the soul. I've only been to a few classes thus far and am SO happy I'm getting back into yoga after a 3-year break. Holly, Ric, and Sarah have been my instructors and I really enjoy each of their unique styles. Anchorage Yoga is a very clean studio and totally unpretentious. THE STUDIO IS DIRTY... also I will have to agree with the others about their "contract" they will automatically charge your account for a year. I went for two months just to get a real feel for the studio. Rick is the only good instructor, the others are new and talk during the entire session like its Good Morning America. NEVER again will I be going to this studio. There are waaaay better deals and cleaner places in town to go anyways. read more

I like that the teachers are focused on every student, and that it isn't a snobby place. Since I'm heavier, a lot of yoga teachers don't bother to pay attention to me at other places, but at Anchorage Yoga I actually get adjustments and attention from teachers who aren't judgemental. It's the only yoga place in town that is so inviting. (I've also noticed that they give similar attention to older people, no matter what shape they are in). read more

I LOVE this studio. All of the employees are fabulous. Every time I go in I feel super welcomed. The staff knows you by name and can answer questions in a snap. Their website is easy to follow, signing up for classes is simple. The ambiance of the studio is very warm. AND they just added on and renovated. The front desk customer service is AMAZING. Everyone always has a smile. Both Rick and Joshua classes are intense. However, I enjoy their class because they encourage you to try and do better each movement while also listening to your body. You will leave refreshed.
