So, we walked in and they told us (3 of us wanting to get tatted, by the way) to come back in an hour and they'd squeeze us in, and that's exactly what they did. Mitch worked on my tattoo, and he drew up such a beautiful design I couldn't even believe it, but it was the truth. They let me know the piercer in Hudson was not in and to look into the River Falls or Stillwater shop. I opted for River Falls. I made the appointment and explained the weird issue. I went in at my appointed time and the piercer was all ready for me. Sorry, really bad with names. I told her what happened. Thankful she had experience with this kind of thing. I also told her if she couldn't fix it, I would head over to "urgent care". She was a complete delight. So nice and kind. She looked at it and was able to get the gem out of there and replaced my earrings with a larger crystal and a longer stem to account for the swelling I was experiencing. Jessie made this statement, "no, that's going to look retarded." She said, " I'm not going to tattoo a stupid tattoo on you, and that'll be stupid." I've been tattooed by many fine artists in the twin cities and have never been treated like that or had an artist insult the ideas or you personally. I would take your good money elsewhere. My wife went in for a tattoo to commemorate her grandmother, who passed away earlier this year. The tattoo was a simple needlepoint design, and all of the specifics were worked out ahead of time. My wife got the tattoo, and was initially thrilled. After the bandage came off, she examined it a bit more closely, only to discover that the pattern, which is based on symmetry, was nonsymmetrical in places. All of the areas on the tattoo were supposed to be the exact same thing, yet some shapes were blatantly out of line, and some of the figures were reversed. Yet, this isn't the worst of it. My wife tried to contact the business to get her concerns rectified, and was met with absolutely NO RESPONSE. Her message to the establishment was viewed on Facebook Messenger, but no reply was given either by the artist or a representative of the business. She tried over the course of two days to contact someone from the business, but to no avail. She even went to the place, saw that the "open" sign was on, but the doors were locked. She waited outside for a half hour, yet nobody seemed to be home. She told me later on that she felt like a fool. Like I said initially, this is one situation out of many that have happened, and while there may have been some good experiences, and some bad ones, the fact that decides whether or not we go back to an establishment is whether or not the business is willing to be accountable for and willing to correct their mistakes. So, in conclusion, we will not be going back to Good Times Tattoo. It most certainly is not a good time in hindsight, especially when getting a tattoo to commemorate a wonderful woman that sadly, has passed. Since my last and only experience getting anything pierced was from Claire's in the 2000s, I really didn't know what to expect other than 1. Don't use guns and 2. Piercing shops probably know better than the teenagers at Claire's. Booking an appointment for a piercing was super easy, and I was able to get one with Katie. I decided to purchase the jewelry there, although I didn't ask if you could bring your own, but I figured if I was gonna be stuck with this in my ears for a while, I should choose something with a more comfortable backing than the pieces I already had. The jewelry is a little on the pricy side, but the fact that it was implant grade titanium as the backing + 14k gold as the ball made me feel assured it was not going to cause any irritation since I had to leave it in. Katie was awesome - she walked me through what the piercing process would entail, the dos and do nots of a new piercing, and aftercare before we even got started. She marked up where the placement would be after examining where it probably look best based on my ear shape, and encouraged me to change it if I wanted to do as "there are no rules to this". The process itself was a lot less stressful than I made it out to be in my head, and I left feeling great about my decision.
