Someone reminded me of this newish gallery that I had heard about but hadn't been to yet. Thank goodness for this place! They have art and crafts made by local Southeast Asian artists that you can buy in the spot. I bought some lovely drawings by Tori Hong for just $30 each. They also have a good stationary selection. I got some thank you cards that say "thank you" in Hmong! I saw aprons with Hmong designs, cute pillows, stickers, mug coasters and more. The space felt airy like a gallery and the folks running the store were super friendly. Do you need gifts for friends, family, or coworkers? Are you needing things to make your office space or retreat space more fun, colorful, & inviting? If yes, you def got to check out XIAART & support some awesome local artists at the same time. Northern Clay Center

I took a group class at Northern Clay center and it was amazing! We had 11 brand new students…read morelearning about throwing pottery for the first time (so we all needed individual attention) and the instructor was so friendly and able to help us all! I thought maybe we would each make one piece, but we each got to make 4 or 5 bowl-like objects (you got to pick) and to paint them. We also used the break room to order food, since pottery in the morning was hungry work. Northern Clay is giant inside- I had not idea looking at it from the street. There is a parking lot right by the building, so you don't have to worry about street parking. We had a great time, and will be back to pick up or art in 3 weeks! I definitely recommend the group classes or private parties, which came out to ~$50 per person.

The pottery is grouped by artist, which made it easy to limit my browsing to only the styles I liked. I will note that (at least on the day I visited) they very heavily feature artists whose style is natural and rustic, which isn't bad, but for the prices they charge I was looking for something more sophisticated. I know all pottery takes a lot of work, but I'm not going to spend $80 on a misshapen mug. The items do focus pretty heavily on dishes and cups/mugs, which made gift shopping a little difficult, since I wasn't about to buy a surprise dinnerware set for someone. The person manning the front desk was very helpful and brought out more pieces from the back room of artists I liked. She was also able to share with me which pieces were and were not dishwasher safe. I left with a good selection of gifts and would definitely come back again.

Apple picking is one of my ultimate favorite fall activities, we went this past weekend hoping for some Honeycrisp apples, but they weren't quite ready yet which ended up being a blessing in disguise because we picked a bag full of sweet tango instead. Honeycrisp has always been my go to, but I think my new favorite is sweet tango because I love their little size. Usually, I can't finish a whole Honeycrisp on my own, but I'll find myself eating two or three sweet tangos in a day! My husband and I are obsessed, and we may be coming back at least once if not twice before the season ends.

The primary one, that I'll write about here, was very poor line management and a huge lack of clarity. They have "Tickets" and "Wristbands" buying a "ticket" makes you eligible for a "wristband, but they are not the same thing. They had a terrible solution. Where you wait in an insanely long line (literally an hour long) to get a "ticket" then you have to go all the way back to another insanely long line to get a "wristband" in order to get in the hayride that takes you to the flowers (they would not allow people to walk). There was not clear signage which lead to a lot of confusion that really slowed things down. What made things worse is that we were there right at opening time, so we completed the idiotic process properly. But about an hour in the staff realized how bad their idea was, and tried to combine the lines which led to a ton of people being able to budge us, which was really unfortunate and frustrating. I certainly would never visit this place again on a weekend. It was such a poor experience. Maybe going during the week when visitation is not at peak could be feasible.

Parking was free and easy. Once you get to the entrance gate, you'll be greeted by staff to show your admission ticket or buy tickets. It's reasonable priced. I purchased the admission with ride and getting a sunflower option. Service was fast and friendly. There's a station near the front to line up for the hay ride which approximately runs every 15-20 minutes. But my friends and I decided to explore other stations before doing the hay ride. There were mini houses and mini log cabin displays to check out. There was a mini kart race track that adults and kids can actually grab a kart and peddle around the track. That was a fun experience! There's also a okay ground that both kids and adults can play Through the courses.. Once we got through the stations, we headed back to the entrance to wait for the hayride. The hayride would bring us way back into the fields where you can see them growing peppers, sunflowers and pumpkins. We were dropped off into the sunflower fields to browse, take pics and then eventually able to pick a sunflower or flowers form the fields at the end per the packages we laid for. I had to leave early so I was t able to cut one for myself. But would love to come back another time to experience it again haha.

While I'm great with tattoos, piercings have always given me the heebie-jeebies. Kelly was amazing, talked me through the process, and did a wonderful job. I got my daith and nostril pierced and love them both. The parlor is very cool looking and comfortable. I scheduled my appointment via their website and got VERY quick responses. I was able to get in the very next morning. I am looking forward to getting more piercings here and may even get a tattoo here too! read more

Awesome place ! My piercer Dani was amazing! Super funny and easy going! Really put me at ease with my piercing! She paid a lot of attention to detail and even adjusted the placement for my piercing so it wouldn't move when I smiled! Really great experience. I got an email from Zac about 30 minutes later, saying he could see us on Mothers Day at noon and just to send him an idea of what we were looking for. Zac was quick to respond to me and to top it off, he came in on his day off to do this for us! When we got there he had a few stencils drawn up for us to choose from (based on the ideas I had sent him via email), he tweaked one of them a little bit for us, and then we got started. The place is spacious, well lit and super clean, we watched Zac take his time to clean up the area and his equipment in between each one of our tattoos. He was fun and friendly and patient with us due to our indecisiveness (remember... 4 women!!). We are all very pleased with the end results and would highly recommend Scottish Rose Tattoo, specifically, Zac!

Guy brings out hoops to pierce with (ABSOLUTELY not ok) i tell him no i don't want to be pierced with hoops, that's really bad. He tells me about how he and his buddy think that you can get pierced right away with hoops. While this may be true, not at all ever for oral piercings AND the hoop should be a bigger gauge. Either way, i had such irritation and struggle with the pain after days of hoops i had to sit at home missing social events with ice on my face. I was able to get one stud in myself, but had to pay another $50 at a pro shop to get one in the swollen side that was pierced through a vein. You can see the irritation on the hoop side in the picture. I would not trust this shop if they've got a piercing guy that will do that. I believe he's the only piercer at the shop. In the response to all these issues all they said is that they would switch it out. No accountability or saying anything about their choice. Stay away from here for piercings and look up APP piercing shops for your safety.
