We were so in love with her. I'm home and heartbroken.

Left with a completely broken heart and no kitten. We arrived and after sometime were shown a couple of kittens. We fell in love with one and were ready to adopt. Her name was Madeleine and she was 2 months and 19 days old. Once we made our decision, we told the staff... we were then told that because she isn't 3 months old (11 days shy) that we would have to take two. We have a cat at home that we rescued 2 years ago as an abandoned infant, and ate not ready for three cats. We asked the staff to double check and were quickly told no again. So we left. They lost an adoption and any future referrals from us and they left me with a hole in my heart. ‍

It's been over 5 years since I've adopted Bear (initially named Alex, but Bear felt right for him), and I can honestly say, he's changed my life for the better. Yes, he pushes my water over in the middle of the night, scratches the rug, and occasionally meows at 5AM (thank god I'm a morning person). But I'd have it no other way. He's been with me through a bad break up, and several moves, and still has the biggest personality I've ever seen in an animal. There are moments when I seriously cannot understand how anyone could have given him up in the first place. Then I realize that the universe knew I needed him, and he was always meant to be in my life. If you're considering adopting, DO IT! I'm telling you it'll be the best gift to not only the animals life, but your own. Once again, I'm more than grateful to have gone through Anderson!

4 years ago I made a spontaneous visit to the shelter with really no intention to adopting a dog but to boost my mood. I really loved all of the energetic doggies and how you could tell they were treated with love and care. I also really loved that all of the poor shy, nervous, and timid little dogs felt safe too. When I adopted my dog (he was a dog they rescued from a kill shelter) I could tell he was very comfortable despite being skittish due to his past situation. Now he's been in our loving home for 4 years and makes my day everyday no matter what.

We fostered Cricket(Polly) and adopted when all her medical concerns were over. Anderson was wonderful.

Anderson is a superior shelter. I have adopted from them over and over. All my dogs and cats have been great companions. My only complaint is their lives are to short.

I've volunteered and they definitely take the health of the animals very seriously. I highly recommend this shelter!

Does Anderson house smaller dogs for adoption? And if yes, is there a particular location? I've gone on the site several times and see larger dogs and puppies, but none in the <25lb range.

I am not sure if one of my staff has responded, but we have the size range you inquired abput at all three adoption locations. Let me know how I can help you further.

Echoing the other review...I made some quick calls to various sanctuaries and found only one that was available, friendly and helpful. As an aside...why is it so often that people who SO love animals are so prickly with actual human beings?? Unlike other sanctuaries, FVWC didn't "maybe we'll take it" me or scold me for caring for a bird. It was a bit of a trek for me to get there but I felt confident in going that what had been a huge investment of time for me to bring the bird this far, would be well continued by the staff here. They told me that after a brief period of observation, they'd house him in an outside cage with other birds to acclimate to the outdoors and learn from other birds. Then he'd be released into beautiful rural Elburn. Yea! I was happy that they took so such detailed notes of his journey thus far. While there I also was able to observe their staff and a few of the beasties in their care... A fawn having its healing leg rebandaged for the day and a turkey wandering around the house. lol Lotsa love for the animals there and bonus...humane treatment of the humans! :-D

Finally Home had received him after his previous, neglectful owners had dumped him on the streets when he was only a 6-month-old puppy. His story broke my heart, and his silly pug smile put it back together. When I went to pick him up from Lynn, I found a whole little herd of happy, smiley dogs in need of wonderful forever homes. They were all very well cared for, enjoying ample space and play areas, and I wished I could take them all. The adoption fee covered my guy's neuter and vaccinations, and Lynn had helped him recover from those with all-natural ointments. She continued to email me advice helping him adjust to his new home and getting along with his "big brother" after we picked him up. He is now living the life every dog deserves to, and brings us such joy. This was our first experience with a rescue dog and we would certainly return to Lynn if we planned to add anymore dogs to our family.

It is so helpful to have someone you can ask questions of, to reassure and comfort you at a fraught and emotional time. Every criteria we had was met and exceeded: we wanted Maggie to feel no fear, to have unhurried time with her, to have a clear understanding of what was going to happen, to say goodbye on our terms. Maggie simply and immediately accepted Dr. Kriner's presence, decided she welcomed pets and affection from this sweet person she had never met. The only focus was Maggie, to have her feel complete love surrounding her, to let her enjoy cheeseburgers and chocolate, pets, hugs, kisses, many words of love, to make certain she knew exactly how special she was and always would be and that we were grateful for her life with us. There is no avoiding how heartbreaking a time it is, but to have a precious fur baby handled with love, calmness, gentleness, respect and care is an enormous comfort. We are unspeakably touched by every aspect of interaction with Dr. Jessica Kriner of Compassionate Heart.

I regret every stepping foot into this place and putting my trust in them- I recently found out my dog has chronic pancreatitis after going to Bowes Animal Hospital because Randall Road was either closed since it was a Monday when I needed to bring my pet in or they were booked when I needed them most. I've had bloodwork done on Jake routinely when he became a senior- everytime Randall Road Animal Hospital would call me with the results, they would say his liapse is high, quit feeding him table scraps, tho we don't feed him table scraps.. and failed to do further testing to find out what was REALLY going on-I took him to Bowes Animal Hospital, repeated blood work as his liver enzymes were elevated- Bowes recommended further testing as his liapse was high and so was his liver enzymes, which indicates inflammation somewhere.. well, after five years of elevated blood work at Randall road, he was diagnosed tonight with chronic pancreatitis- Not only did we find out he has pancreatitis- he also has cancer. I was told by Randall Road a lump on his ankle was probably a fatty cyst- further testing was done once again at Bowes after Dr said that's not a fatty cyst- came back as soft tissue sarcoma- removal for this can't be done until pancreatitis is treated if it's able to be treated. Lastly, my dog also suffers from laryngeal paralysis- I took it upon myself to research meds to give him to calm him down as excitement causes laryngeal paralysis to get worse... medication Randall Road recommended for arthritis- liberala, found out after doing my OWN research doesn't interact well with dogs that have laryngeal paralysis, so I recommended he be switched. I am so disappointed and most of all let my pup down... please think twice before choosing this place to be your place to take your babies too- I put my trust into this place and was let down not once but three times and have a pup who suffered from it
