If you're adopting through a rescue organization you have to understand there is a process involved and that in this case it is completely run by volunteers. They want to make sure applicants will be good owners and there are times a dog is actually returned because the adoptee doesn't understand the responsibilities of Dog ownership. So yes, there is a selection process. We've fostered for them for years and found new homes for many dogs. I'm very up front with potential adoptees and if you have questions ask them. It's tough to criticize a group when you haven't seen them come back from a trip with dozens of poor dogs, an army of foster families there to meet them, get them vetted and cleaned and settled in. It's really amazing in the end. I would suggest just to ask a few questions and not assume it is a one-click process. read more

My mother and I, filled out a from for a puppy who was turning 8 weeks on a saturday. I was told I could go see him the day before on friday but couldn't adopt him since he's not old enough. The lady did not mention to me at all that someone else had filled out an adoption form or was going to see him. 3 hours before I was expecting to see the puppy she tells me he's been adopted. This group does not respond back at all or over a week after an inquiry. They claim they only contact you if they feel you are a good match. A truly dedicated rescue will respond to everyone and try to see if there is some fit whether it is to foster, adopt, volunteer or donate. There is so much need and the ones I find will work hard to help anyone who contacts them are the ones who desire to exist. I don't feel this group has that heart. They talk a good talk but don't walk the walk. The animals needing homes deserve better. Be your name or transfer your pets to other places, there are many other really good rescues. read more

This organization really knows what helping means. Today's adoption process is ridiculous. I understand why it takes 30 mins to complete and online application and the requirement to find the best fit home for our little friends. But does it have to be so difficult? Especially when a family just want to have someone to love and care for? This organization was able to help us find a dog in just one day! And we got our little angel in a very short time. Jessica really helped us out. She still made sure we were a good fit but she also did not drag our adoption process. I can't thank them enough by making our family complete and giving us our bundle of joy. I really recommend everyone to talk to them because they are all very knowledgeable. What I thought was the best adoption experience ever, turned into a nightmare! At the start, the experience was awesome, its the bait and switch at the end that will get you. Rescue Warriors Corp(RWC), should change their name to Money Warriors Corp. There is nothing not for profit about this shell corporation. She appears to have the animals best interest in mind, but that is because there is a $ attached to it. The real problem here is that we adopted our pet over a month ago and were told a price by the foster parents, which we gladly paid. 30 days later, we get a text message, not a call, not a letter, a text message. It stated we did not pay enough for the dog. Wait, what?? Yes, we owed $600 for the dog, not the $300 the foster parents told us when we took him home. So, wait, its been 30 days, you are just now telling us this?? I could see, a day, 2 days, even a week, okay that's a stretch. Here we are 1 month later, and we owe another $300?? Under normal circumstances, I would have told her no, absolutely not, I am not paying you anymore money. The angle that RWC was able to play is that this so called not for profit organization held our check, and rewrote the contract for $600 while our new family pet was under the knife at the Elgin clinic they work with. Meaning the chip ID was never transferred to us, the check was never cashed, meaning, we never paid for the dog. Legally, the dog still belongs to RWC!! Having no legal leg to stand on, we were forced to pay the $300. Its a good thing my family is now attached to the dog, as well. I was left with no choice but to pay the additional $300, or she was going to take the dog back. Let me finally explain how this works, part of the contract you sign is that you will have your new pet neutered or spayed in 30 days or less time, and it is included in your adoption fees. You also must use the vet that RWC works closely with. After that you can use your own. The reason why?? The Elgin pet clinic and RWC are working together to scam more money from you. The clinic would not release our pet back to us until a phone call was made to the owner of RWC, that we paid the additional $300, and were cleared. So, in essence, holding our dog for ransom. Actually it was ransom, as we were instructed not to pick up the dog until she told us. Luckily we went ahead and showed up anyways, when we wanted! I suggest that unless you would like an experience like this, look some place else for an adoption. I have also asked all 8 of my other family members not to submit applications to this scam artist and simply visit other places to adopt. read more

We had been looking for a puppy to adopt. Rescue Warriors were so nice and i my puppy smelled so good when we picked her up. We adopted Meesha fka Hyde and she is so adored. She goes to kid's baseball games, learned to catch a frisbee and is really a great dog. Rescue Warriors checked that we were a good fit - fence, schedule, history of adoption and. understood that with the dogs we've had we were capable of making a good adoption decision. Since we both work from home, housebreaking took a short time. Our vet said a few clients had given up on rescues because they would get rejected for reasons that didn't make sense and went to breeders or craigslist. I understand that because my husband is an introvert so we felt some organizations tried to steer us to the cat aisle (we have two cats, no issue with cats) or gave us a strict time slot to see a dog and if we happened to not be able to, we were rejected. We knew I would be primary on housebreaking and since my husband said that, they didn't want to give us a puppy. We had adopted two older rescues because having had puppies, we knew when we were ready for the work. While I am describing some of the bad, I want anyone who has reviewed the rescues and been frustrated (I read them after my experience) to not give up on rescues and contact Rescue Warriors. I contacted someone I had adopted from before who is out of the area when I was ready to give up and she knew of some of the reputations and got me in touch with her network and I happened across Rescue Warriors when I got back to my search. And yes it worked out so maybe they were right though there are many who are not respectful about it. Rescue Warriors knew what we were looking for and why. And we were approved with the organizations they share events with. One puppy caught my eye from a rescue they work with a lot and they said once checked out by Rescue Wartiors I didn't have to do it again. This was 1 of multiple emails that I sent to thus rescue with no response. I would not recommend this rescue to anyone looking for a healthy animal that its current on vaccinations. I'm still waiting a response from my previous email to you concerning the dog we've purchased from you.  Through working with Our vet, we have discovered that Oreo did not have 2 intestinal parasites, but 3. Ring worm, hook worm, and tape worms. This neglect is alarming coming from a rescued that advertised this 6month old dog as healthy and current on all vaccinations. When she was actually 8months old and full of parasites. You over charged me for this dog, lied about her health, and neglected her health.  I am now looking for the $50 difference that you over charged us, by lying about her age, as well as reimbursement for the medical bills to rid this poor dog of all these parasites that you "vet" didn't assess for, nor treat. My current vet bills are now exceeding $300, and she is not out of the woods yet.  That would be $350. I am very upset that this dog had been so neglected, but I am angry that you knowingly endangered my children. I expect you to make this right, and I will not stop until you do. read more

Rescue Warriors is a great pet rescue that has a dedicated group of people working hard to save as many dogs as possible. I am always impressed with the team that works tirelessly to rescue, pick up dogs, call on their great group of helpers and fosters to help out. They get the dogs the critical medical care that they need, while placing them in temporary, loving foster home until they are adopted. It is a difficult process but they do a great job. This place makes adopting very difficult. We are very passionate about dogs, and we love ours dearly. Im a billion percent sure we exceed the criteria for adoption. Going through the application/selection process is frustrating. Places like this is the reason people go through breeders. I for one am doing just that. This "rescue" is a complete joke. My husband and I met with a foster mom to meet a puppy with our current dog. Our dog is scared of bigger dogs and the foster mom had us meet at a petsmart. There was a training class going on with several large dogs that scared our dog. our dog got along great with the puppy we were meeting; kissing each other and jumping around. We wanted to do a home meet and great since our dog was so scared being around the larger dogs walking around petsmart. The foster mom agreed and said tomorrow would work. The foster mom told the rescue we wanted to do a home meet and greet and said how our dog was scared of the other dogs walking around at petsmart. a day goes by and no word. We had to contact the rescue only to find out the foster mom lied and said our dog was barking and lunging at every dog. Really? Then how did we spend 2 hours with you and teh puppy if that's the case? We got in contact with the fat lady who runs the rescue, Vanessa. She actually accused me of falsifying my husbands job title on our application!!! I came to find out she used to work with my husband years ago. She obviously has something against him because she lied right to me and went out of her way to email me personally. All this of course after blocking the rescues page on Facebook after they messaged me more lies. My husband said she was the laziest piece of trash and everyone at work knew it too. I adopted a year old dog who was saved from a puppy mill. The pup was brought to my attention by a family member, I filled out an application and was contacted several days later. The dog was brought to my home and introduced to my dogs and it went very well. I completed the adoption but had several questions regarding information on him and the foster was very quick to respond to all of my questions. I love my new family addition, he is adapting very well. His foster, Laura, has been a great help in getting info I needed--such as a correct microchip number and where to register his chip. This organization is run by all volunteers. From the reviews I just read, it seems to me some of the fosters may not have been upfront about issues. It is also true that dogs being re-homed are stressed and react differently than when they are in a stable foster home. I want to thank Laura for all her help and to thank her for considering my home for my new pup. He is a joy! read more

I just DO NOT understand this rescue. They have a beautiful golden retriever called Fuzzy Navel up for adoption. We applied over two weeks ago and have a stellar application and referral background, but they have yet to even review us. They have not called our references or our vet. I have emailed them twice and have heard nothing. And this beautiful dog that needs a home is caught in the middle. Yes, we understand that it is run by volunteers, but a response to an email takes a minute. It is unprofessional and insensitive. I feel bad for the young dog. This group treats their fosters terribly. I personally observed the time, care, and cost put into fostering your dogs. It takes a special person to care for your pups then relinquish them to their owners as it's normal for fosters to become attached to the pups. Given that most of the rescues were treated poorly, great care is taken to house break the pups. Most people don't have the time, training, or desire to host pups that ultimately soil areas of the home in process, fear humans, and cry and bark all day and night. I've witnessed your manipulative degradation of such a foster for returning a pup that aggressively lunged at and tried to bite my son, its owner, and her children. This dog was well cared for, in a home with other dogs, a home with plenty of space, yard, and the best mom of dogs I've ever met. Seeking help for the pup she dearly loved, you treated her like a criminal and slandered her on your site. For weeks this Mom worked with the dog to train, socialize, and accommodate its needs lovingly at the expense of her own safety and that of the family and others as it wouldn't respond or bond as expected with anyone other than her. Given that you're all volunteers, You should show more respect to the fosters that help you and many dogs that would otherwise be euthanized. When a foster asks for help, you give it. You don't assume they've given up on the pet that they love and treat them like crap. It's very emotional for a dogs owner to let go of an animal that due to its cruel entrance into the world hasn't developed. Dog abnormalities are frequent in rescues and sadly, this dog wasn't wired right. We adopted our 2 dogs in May, 2016 from Rescue Warriors Corp. Since June 25, we have tried to make contact with Rescue Warriors Corp 14 times (via email, their website and facebook) with no success. We were trying to reach out to them to address concerns we had with the health of the dogs. Their website specifically says "Any medical issues are addressed." before the dogs are adopted out. We feel our dogs were not healthy and required a lot of additional medical attention and cost when we took ownership. We wanted to discuss before putting any reviews out there. Also, most importantly, we were informed that all their vaccinations were done. But after adopting, found out that was inaccurate, so we had to take responsibility of getting that taken care of for the safety of the dogs and our family. We requested information on the microchips and are concerned that according to their agreement, all microchips will be registered to Rescue Warriors Corp. The agreement then says as owners microchip information will be available upon request by emailing them. Since they don't respond to messages, we have not gotten any details. We can see this organization is trying to do good for so many dogs that need help. But concerned about after you adopt a dog, any concerns/questions have no place to be addressed and no one responds to messages. read more

I called to inquire about a possible adoption and what their fees and process looks like. I have two shelter animals (one being a bully breed dog) and so I really wanted to get another animal from a shelter or rescue. The woman on the phone completely dismissed me because I didn't have that breeds experience and despite my 5 years of professional veterinary experience implied I am only interested in the pup because he was cute. She said if I was still interested there are dogs on the website that have never been looked at. You cant patronize people for fawning over cute pets when that's what your website post about. We just returned a puppy we got from Rescue Warriors who tested positive for Sarcoptic Mange only 4 days after receiving her. (And this after cc'ing a lawyer friend into all email correspondence which we believe got Rescue Warrior's -and their lawyer's attention.) They have not reimbursed us any expenses (adoption or vet). This puppy was from a litter of 9. They stated that she was part Australian Shepard and part Beagle (which we now doubt). Her mom's name is Sunny and the entire litter (with mom) were fostered together. This mange is highly contagious to dogs, can cause death to dogs if untreated, and can be caught by humans from animals who have it. if you have one of the 9 pups or the mom, find out your rights immediately. This rescue is unethical. Avoid it. Stay away from Rescue Warriors - they are not waging war on anyone except the animals under their care and those naive enough to attempt to adopt from them. read more

I adopted what I thought was a two year old shih tzu mix from rescue warriors. I was provided with zero documentation at the time of adoption under the impression they should be sending it to me. As it turns out, at my first dog's first vet trip, as outlined in the contract, the dog was 7, had a hernia (I was told it was a skin tag) and had two teeth that needed to be pulled to assist my dog in eating (not mentioned at all). It took them 10 days at MY request to get documentation of her vaccines. Rescue warriors documents showed my dog's age as being 5. They knew she was older prior to me adopting her and neglected to tell me. Rescue warriors refused any medical assistance to the sick dog that they sent to us. They also kept our 300 dollars for the dog we were lied to about. They violated sections of the animal control act (Illinois state law), as to how they are supposed to distribute information in regards to providing the dog's age, vaccination history, and prior medical issues. If I could give them less than one star if I could. They are peddling out dogs that they don't have the time to take care of and choose to lie about. They appear worse to me than a puppy mill. Adopted a dog I saw off pet finder's website from a rescue warriors foster home. The dog is healthy and great but we were told the neutering was required withing 30 days from adoption. When that time came we contacted the required clinic we were told to have the dog fixed at and they denied they would perform a neutering that early (8 weeks). Attempted to contact Rescue warriors and never got it returned until well past the 30 day mark. Now they will not cover the neutering and I must pay out of pocket. I recently adopted my dog Rocky (fka Paquin) from Rescue Warriors. The entire process was great. They came to my home to check it out and to allow me to make sure that he would be a good fit with my other dogs, they had him completely up to date on all medical requirements, he was already neutered, and he's completely AWESOME. I do not recommended this place at all. My friend rescued a puppy from them that came with Parvo from day one. Back and forth it had to go the vet costing her over $1700 after 2 weeks of having her. It is not the dogs fault so she went through all she had to get her back from almost dying. They never once called back after getting many emails from her. They never did anything a professional place would have done, at least call back to help out with these huge bills. Even now they do not answer the emails or calls. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! They sell sick puppies even if this is one of the only times it happen which i totally doubt they did not care like they should. I would not recommend adopting from this rescue. We adopted a Frenchbull dog, filled out the paper work on a Friday night, by Sunday morning they wanted to bring her over. (They didn't check with our vet or have time to call references). I have another dog which we adopted from paws & we have 2 older cats that we have had since they were babies. I asked several questions to make sure she would be a good fit with our other pets. I asked if she was cat friendly they said she was fine. They also said she was 6 years old. We took her to the vet the next day & he said she was about 10, which wasn't a big deal to us but the fact that they lied. I was told they would email me her paper work, they never did. My vet was asking what care she had, what shots, I had no idea. I called & left 2 messages & never heard from them. We were having trouble with the 2 dogs getting along & I contacted the foster mom, she gave me some ideas to try. We had her less than a month when she attacked our cat, it was pretty bad & I had to break them up. I called 3 more times leaving messages with no reply. I even mentioned rehoming her due to her having to be in a cage so much because of the fighting. No response. I finally had to call the foster mom ( who I guess is no longer working with the rescue hmmmm) and she took her back. She said sorry your $600 is non refundable. So I asked but you will adopt her to someone else and charge again, with a yeah that's how it works. Which she is back on the website for another $600 adoption fee & they have "changed" the wording of what she now needs (no dogs or cats). She is a very sweet dog that all I wanted was for her to have a happy life. So in the end we paid $600 for a dog that we had for 3 weeks and was not in a good place with other animals. All this rescue cares about is money & not making sure the animal is safe and happy with a family & pets that they get along with. Plus they don't return calls I still never got her paper work. I'm filing a complaint with BBB. The point of rescuing is giving the animal an amazing life that they never had, and making sure they are not fighting and possibly hurting themselves or other animals. BUYER BEWARE!! We adopted a dog from this organization and the moment they received their money is the moment when they stopped communication with us.They recommend that you take your adopted pet to a vet within two weeks of purchase, and a trainer a soon as possible. With that being said, we never received proof of purchase, proof of vaccinations, or proof of spay/neuter, and no vets or trainers would see us unless we have at least one of the previous documents. They assured us that they would send us the information via E-Mail within the day we adopted the dog, which obviously never happened. On top of this we reached out to the organization many times pleading for help because the dog would not eat, drink, or go to the bathroom, she just wanted to stay in her kennel 24/7 her health rapidly deteriorated and she lost 20lbs in the first 3 weeks, not to mention got violent with all members of the family at least once, some more than that. After several E-Mails and the organizations blatant disregard for the dogs mental and physical well-being, our anger reached a point where legal action was necessary. Upon the 14 day notice of future legal action, the organization finally reached out to us and claimed they could take the dog back, which was the best option for our family and the dogs sake, because one she actually would eat, play, and socialize with her foster family (which was the same family as before we adopted her), and two our family needed the peace of mind that no more violent episodes would happen. We have yet to be refunded our money and are debating whether or not animal neglect charges on their behalf should be put in motion. There are many reputable adoption organizations out there, and highly recommend you look anywhere but here when adopting your next furry family member. read more

Took my money for a puppy they denied giving to me, because we were getting two puppies at once (which I stated at the meeting with the puppy)!! it's been two weeks and still no refund!!! For what you ask? ...to cremate him. Yes that's correct- after talking to one of the founders of RWC and being assured I would pay nothing for my troubles of waking up to a dead cat on the morning of my wedding shower... Extremely disappointed. I had previously rescued a dog from RWC over a year ago without issue. We eagerly returned to RWC to rescue a second dog. We consulted with RWC "team members" on very specific requirements (must be housebroken and not destructive) since we just purchased a brand new construction home. Initially my fiancé wanted a bulldog so we fostered a mill bulldog for a while. Deciding that the dog did not fit our lifestyle (not to mention she was not fully housebroken) and dog (Ours is an active DDB/pit and she's a short stumpy bulldog), we began assisting in the foster/adoption process. We met with a gentleman to see her and then brought the dog to an adoption event where we were told there was a family waiting to see her. We immediately dropped what we were doing that day to go to the event. After 2.5 hours the family was a no show. Meanwhile, we did meet another dog who was previously advised to be a good fit for our dog. We spoke to the foster mom for a while and the lady told us that she was no longer fostering the dog as of that Thursday. She said that she was adopting another puppy from another rescue and the rescue would not release the pup to her until the dog was out of her house. Initially we thought nothing of it as the foster said it was due to a scratch on the pup from play. We thought the dog was sweet and talk to RWC team about her. She was supposedly housebroken and non-destructive. She was supposedly surrendered because the family "couldn't afford her". We adopted her at the event. The foster mom seemed reluctant. She kept saying "well maybe you should try fostering her" which seemed off. We brought her home and she was great with our dog. She did have accidents but we attributed that to new environment and adjustment. We did not receive her paperwork and I had to request it from RWC. Once received we noticed that the prior owner who surrendered the dog's paperwork. It clearly stated that the dog had accidents and this was not disclosed with us prior to adoption. Since then she has ripped up carpet, tried to attack other dogs, almost bit neighbors, destroyed the home, had more accidents than we can count, etc. (Spare you the rest of the details as this list can go on) I contacted an RWC team member with my concerns and tried to work with the dog some more. A few weeks later, she was still destructive and hit our breaking point. We could not board her due to temperament issues and she ripped up a chunk of carpet and peed in our bed a few days before we were hosting a party for 50+ people. I again contact RWC to return the dog. The manner in which it was handled after that was disrespectful and unprofessional. 1. They posted the dog to Facebook as an "absolute dream for her fosters but the owners have had issues with her chewing and want to return her"- This was not the entire truth. 2. A RWC "team member" then responded to a comment stating that we did not give a clear answer as to if she was crated. Also not the truth as I clearly had texts to another RWC "team member" stating that she was and that she still peed/pooped in her crate (amongst the other issues) This spurred some additional comments in which I felt the need to clarify the truth of the dogs issues and state that this comment was not the truth. I clearly stated that the dog was not as described to me prior. 3. Another RWC "team member" then went a rant about how we were the problem and she was sick of our excuses. She continued her rude comments and defamation of us as pet owners. She followed this up with personal messages to me continuing to harass me. Now I have fostered many dogs before with another rescue. Even ran fundraisers in 2008-2009 to get services provided to a foster Chihuahua that needed surgery. I am a loving pet owner and have had pets prior. I was the removed from the group and unfriended on Facebook. I was called a liar, scum, and told I was a bad dog owner. All unnecessary and uncalled for. Another representative from RWC told me that I was the disappointing one for refusing to keep the dog any longer after putting up with harassment and slander all day. Seems immature and childish. Slander, rude comments, and social media is not the way the organization should have handled it. Extremely disappointing and unprofessional. read more

I had an application in to adopt a puppy. I am very qualified to have a new puppy. I have two animals at the current moment who are all up to date on shots, and very very loved. I have a huge back yard and a wonderful house. I am newly married and was so excited to rescue a new puppy for our little family. I put in the application and after a week of messaging on Facebook first being told the puppy I was interested in was on a medical hold and then I wrote them multiple messages back wondering about an update or about other puppies available. I had multiple messages read by them with no response. I then wrote them and said I thought it was strange that my messages were being read with no response. You would think with so many animals up for adoption they would love to have people interested. The person who wrote be back was cold, not friendly and didn't thank me for my interest, did not apologize for the lack of replies or for leaving me in the dark, but instead told me there were 7 people looking at messages and only certain people could reply and to be patient. Then immediately wrote me again saying since I live out of state (I live near the border of Wisconsin and Illinois) that the pups could not be adopted to someone that lived in Wisconsin. No thank yous, no offering to help me rescue another animal. I again wrote them saying thank you and to have a nice day. I was very happy, nice, and very excited to rescue and animal from this corporation. It looks like I will be rescuing elsewhere. It's sad because they have a great opportunity to help animals and be nice to the people wanting to rescue the animas as well. They chose a different route. read more

DO NOT ADOPT from this HORRIBLE place. A friend of mine adopted a puppy from them on a Saturday and the next day Sunday had to bring the puppy to her vet as it was sick she found out it had Parvo. She incurred approximately $1,6000 in vet and emergency care bills. If she had not spent the money her puppy would have died and she is very lucky it didn't as Parvo is extremely deadly especially in puppies. At first Rescue Warriors seemed willing to help, but after giving them all the information they requested she hasn't heard back from them. We have sent numerous emails, left numerous voice mail messages on main phone and on Jessica's cell with NO return call from anyone. I understand they are run be donations and volunteers but adopting out deathly sick animals without some kind of reimburse to the owner or even caring about the puppy is totally WRONG. All they seem to care about is getting their adoption fee, in this case $400, and whatever happens after that too bad not their problem. Please there are so many other places to adopt from pick one of those and NOT this one! read more

After contacting Rescuer Warriors on a Monday about adopting a rescue dog, I was then directed on Tuesday to fill out application. After filling out application, it stated I would hear a response in 24 hours, 48 hours later I then contacted again asking about the dog I was interested in. After 54 hours, I finally got a response asking which dog, which was a question I filled out on the application. They then told me the dog was having a meet that day and would contact me once the meet occurs. After waiting another 24 hours, I contacted again asking status and the only response I got was that she was adopted. So what was a start on Monday, by Friday the dog I wanted was adopted with a lack of communication. I wonder, did the person contact before me or was it just when they actually contacted people. A huge lack of communication occurred. As I write this review, it still states the dog I wanted to adopt, is still available. Makes me wonder what the rescue warriors are really doing, is it just to collect funds for dogs they no longer have???? Disappointed is all I can say. read more
