Upon returning to get the smog retest, they told us we would have to pay $48.50 for the retest, despite telling my sister and mom both in person and over the phone that the retest would be free. They NEVER said we would have to get the issues fixed through them for the smog retest to be free. They told both my mom and sister that the repairs would be up to $400. My mom and sister told them that we would fix it ourselves since the part is only $50 and charging $400 for it is absurd! Even then they told my mom and sister that the retest would be free after we fixed the issues OURSELVES. They never explicitly said that they had to fix the car for the retest to be free and they continued to argue with us when we returned and they tried to charge us the $48.50. This is a clear example of a scam, you legally cannot tell a customer a service will be free to then later try to charge them. Their rude and dismissive behavior is extremely unprofessional as well. The owner did nothing when we complained. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CARS OR MONEY!!!

They could have easily sold me on replacing my timing chain, gears and all the parts that it takes to rebuild that area but instead I was advised that it would be best to have the transmission checked out first before spending $2500 to $3000 with them. I went to 3 other shops and called around before I decided to go to Major muffler for my recently purchased 98 suburban. I'm a very picky and cautious person and James eased my mind with his knowledge and his great communication especially while the repairs were in progress! They also were willing to work with my schedule for drop off. He found passenger side wheel bearings were seized up and called before replacing it. I was surprised how fast the repairs were made and they kept the old parts so I could look them over after. During the test drive he found a couple other concerns and promptly informed me of these. I had them fixed and the following weekend took a trip to Eureka and down the coast. It felt like a whole new beast! I'll definitely start with major muffler in the future for any vehicle concerns.
