We were headed home to Southern California from Seattle when the battery light turned on and our battery died near Redding around 7pm. Thank goodness we found Roy on yelp! He came out to our hotel to diagnose the car later that night and returned the next day with parts to fix the alternator. We were back on the road by lunchtime. Roy being a mobile service was such a god send for us as we were traveling with 2 kids and a large dog. We didn't have to Uber back and forth from an auto shop to the hotel and back again which cut out so much stress from an already stressful situation. UPDATE: Owner spends more time in responding, and exposes my last name maliciously. Immediately turned into keyboard vigilante when I requested them to do the right thing. Adamantly said he could handle a welding repair, spent hours distracted not working, left vehicle more damaged than original condition. Very unreliable, late each time, when addressed about partial refund - was told to take him to court. He was unprepared with wrong equipment and should not have confidently taken this job or my money. Stay away from this joke of a business/owner-operator His response time was more than spent actually focused on his work, he quoted an additional 12 hours required after 3 days of experimenting with materials and being on his phone, I had no implication he would suddenly leave or not show up for other calls. I have a lot of investment in this vehicle and pay everyone I work with as I did him even after it wasn't finished. I questioned the experimentation and he continued to say he had a solution. He left multiple areas damaged versus taking the areas one by one and completing. I have now spent more than what I was charged by Roy $600 just to remove the weak material, the wrong welding medium, all installed by him had no adhesion (see photos) and used weak material due to lack of equipment. I could not in sound mind let this continue with First Choice, he said he needed 12 more hours which would have translated into 5 more days if he showed up and a total of how much multiple actual autobody shops cost. I gave him 3 tries to get this right and requested a refund since it will cost twice as much now versus his "value" rate. I was fair, did not ask for a discount, i just wanted a capable person to do the work when they said they would. I had his work checked by multiple welders and they told me to request my money back. Excellent mobile mechanic! Highly recommend. It can be rare to find a combination of skill, honesty, integrity, quality, and value in any service industry, but especially in auto mechanics. Lee is all of the above! His father was a mechanic, and he's been "tinkering" since childhood. He's also bonded and licensed and invested in a high end scanner ($10k new with a monthly $500 premium) but it does what fee scanners do, and Lee knows how to use it. So while his price may be higher than other mobile mechanics (I know), he's definitely worth it. Moreover, he generally charges less than other mechanics that supposedly charge less, and he does more! Lee will often pass along his mechanic discount, and replace things he sees need replacing without being asked or charging for it. He cuts corners where it makes sense and cents, but not when it is important not to! He is knowledgeable, thorough, and fair. I wish I found him years ago! He's worth every penny you give him. Took half the labor money and then vanished--Lee was hired to do an engine swap on the vehicle. However, he disappeared after paying half of the labor money for the job which he required be paid upfront ($660), and also taking the only key fob for the vehicle ($200 replacement cost). After a whole ordeal of paying to tow the vehicle and then having to have it towed back (because he was involved in a landlord-tenant civil issue where he was working on the car), Lee proceeded to disappear and not reply to texts or phone calls in early July 2024. Mid July he was contacted via social media and made an appearance, but then vanished again and dropped all communication by late July. It has been over 6 months and he has yet to return the money, or compensate for the key fob ($860 total value). There have been numerous attempts to contact him to do the right thing and return the money so that we can go our separate ways, but so far nothing. read more

Response, service & execution was incredible. Had an issue with an RV manifold exhaust pipe broke and called them on a Sunday evening. I was pulling a 32 foot trailer with my 2500 Diesel Ram and it started to shake . I have my family with me. My son is very medically involved so you can imagine my stress. I called Lee and he met us behind a restaurant in Redding to look at the issue. It was just about dark and he found that my tires were splitting. He took the worst tire and replaced it with my spare. All by hand in the dark. He not only did that but he wanted us safe. He said I'll follow you to make sure it's not shaking. We went to the next exit because it was still shaking. He told us a safe hotel to go to. He helped me park my truck and trailer because at this point I was shaking. He looked further at the tires and said they were all splitting. I'm now sitting at Les Schwabs having to get new tires because the dealer I purchased my truck from a year ago put the wrong size tires on them. Lee was spot on. He was very thoughtful, caring and didn't price gauge us when we were vulnerable. I highly recommend Lee. I am from out of town and experienced a major issue with my car's transmission. My insurance company recommended First Choice Mobile Mechanic. The next day, an employee from First Choice looked at my car. Based on the sounds my vehicle made, he thought only the drive gear of the transmission needed to be replaced. He estimated he would have the parts and be available at 10:00am the next day to start the repair. He never showed up. There were a series of phone calls and texts. At one point he said he was going to come over, but he never did. That evening and the next morning I tried to get ahold of him, but he never called back and I could not leave a message because his voicemail was full. When the First Choice employee looked at my car, he explained to me why we could trust him. He talked about their high Better Business Bureau rating and how they don't mark up parts. In the end, all I was left with was a lack of communication, unfulfilled promises, and a car that had not been repaired. I was hundreds of miles from home and overdue for work. In addition, my partner was out of her medication. We were in a very vulnerable position and needed to get home. I am very disappointed with First Choice Mobile Mechanic's unprofessional service. read more

I'm not familiar with the area and my Tundra threw some electrical codes and the check engine light on, as well as the traction control turning off as I was pulling into where I was staying. It was a Saturday and every mechanic shop in the area was closed on weekends. I started off with a dealership that quoted ridiculously high prices, higher than the value of the car, and recommending that it basically was not worth fixing. They recommend trying a collision shop they worked with, which was also similarly ridiculously priced, and telling me their business model required replacing and repainting parts of the car that clearly did not need working on. I then called Lee, and he was honest, trustworthy, and worked really hard to get my car fixed for a small fraction of both the dealership and the collision center's quotes! We were recommended to call this mobile mechanic and told that he would arrive at 8 o'clock p.m. At 8:30 p.m. we called to see what his ETA was and said he would be here at 9:15 p.m. Well, 10 o'clock rolls around and we called AGAIN and asked to reschedule. The man said he would be here the nezt morning at 10 AM, he called at 12:30 p.m. saying that he was busy until 2 AM and if we still wanted him to come. We chose another route. It was very unprofessional, rude and a waste of our time waiting for a total of 4 hours without a phone call saying he would be late. Will never recommend or call this man again. read more
