Belterra Casino Resort - Spacious room

My wife and I came up for a Sunday night. It was for a birthday. The room was barely ok. The safe…read morein the room did not work, there were empty water and coke bottles left in the room and there was place on the bathroom floor that looked like blood. The restaurant selection was limited to three options. An upscale steak restaurant, a sports bar and a cafe. The casino was fine, but if second had smoke bothers you it will Be an issue. The bar in the casino was always backed up with a long slow moving line and the prices were not discounted. Overall, it was fine, but it definitely did not blow me away. Edit: I took this down to two stars. I got this morning to no hot water. Last night my wife said she got lukewarm water for her shower. Hot water is an expectation for any hotel and especially a place that clams it's a "luxury resort". If you look over my review catalogue you will see I give out 4/5 star reviews fairly regularly and 1/2 stars is rare for me. This was a disappointment from Belterra.

Casino hotels are always tricky for me because I'm someone who really likes to gamble, so I am…read morealmost always given free rooms. Still, I don't think my experience is different than what anyone who comes and pays for the room would be - especially at Belterra. This is a place that has a lot of potential. I can remember when I still lived at home (I grew up in nearby Northern KY) coming with my parents for the giant buffet with crab legs. The place was bustling and it was a fun evening, even though my parents don't gamble. I think those glory days are over. The buffet is no more... open only on major holidays. Most of the other restaurants have limited hours and the place is, especially during the week, practically empty. Still, I was able to connect with an extremely helpful casino host who hooked me up with a player's card and free rooms on two occasions. Note that they do NOT tier match, which is a bummer. I go to Las Vegas 2 or 3 times a month and NO - this isn't like Vegas. At all. I didn't expect that and you shouldn't either. None of the fawning, fancy VIP stuff... it's both refreshing and jarring. Some things to know: * They take early check-in seriously. It's 3 pm and do not come any earlier or they will charge you. They don't care who you are. * Valet parking is only on weekends - so expect to have to handle your own parking and bags. But the parking lot is free! * There just isn't much in the way of dining and you are pretty much in the middle of nowhere. Lower your expectations when it comes to meals. Our room was a basic mid-level hotel room... think Holiday Inn. I think the beds are miserably hard but mattress firmness is a really personal issue so YMMV. One thing that I really hated... during our second stay, the bedside alarm clock went off at 5 AM. I couldn't figure out how to turn it off, so the damn thing continued to go off every 10 minutes until I unplugged it. That's something that just shouldn't happen. Sloppy. The solicitous (and tip-expecting) staff you experience in Vegas has nothing in common with the staff at Belterra. They are not impolite but they don't really care that much and it shows. On our second stay, my mother needed a motorized scooter, which we were able to rent from the hotel. It was her first time using one so we asked for a tutorial. We got basically 1 minute of instruction and were sent on our way. We didn't know how to charge the thing, how to turn it on or off... nothing. The staff at Nosh was consistently deeply uninterested in customers. Casino staff are a little better (save for the security that stare at you as you go through the metal detector), but there is a distinct weariness and lack of interest. Food has been either just OK or not good. There aren't many options at all, and what is there all feels like they're just phoning it in. There is a very small high-limit slots room (I heard there were two, but couldn't find the other). There are some real antiques in the casino - if you like older slots, you will love it here. If you like the latest machines, you're going to struggle to find any. The casino will scratch your itch but that's about it - know what I mean? I don't think we'll do Belterra again... but I do plan to try out some of the Boyd properties in Vegas. If you live nearby, this may be a fun overnight or night out, but definitely not a reason for a special trip.

Roadtrip to The Ark Encounter one overnight. Lawrenceburg, Ohio for May 3, 2026…read more Our experience was horrible in regards to bed cleanliness, bathroom cleanliness and customer care/service. When we were getting ready for bed, we turned down the King size bed in room 624, the fitted sheet was stained with a medium sized skidmark (fecal matter) showing the linen had not been washed or maybe changed. Further examination showed the stain passed through the fitted sheet down through to the mattress cover. The mattress cover itself had additional stains that resembled bed wetting with severe yellow staining on the rt side edge, with splattered brown stains on the side of the mattress cover. We did not discover the condition of the bed linen until we turned the bed down at 11:30 pm. We immediately called the front desk to report the issue. It took 2 contacts with the front desk to get sheets which did not fit the king size bed because they were queen flat sheets and no fitted sheet. She alleged there were no King fitted sheets available. The long haired redheaded young lady who brought the flat sheets was not kind or helpful when she informed us she was 5 min past her shift and she was unable to do anything more for us. We told her to please find a fitted sheet for us. She returned with a fitted sheet but when we tried to make the bed, it was a Queen size sheet!! She reluctantly went to speak with someone who might help us obtain a fitted King sheet. The next young lady who brought a fitted King sheet was even more curt and unkind. She brought the correct size fitted King sheet but had a harsh rude tone and way of handing it over. I tried to show her the condition of the bed but refused to come in and see it stating she was not allowed to come into the room, even though the other young lady had come in when I wanted to show her the foul condition of the shower and bathroom floor; red mold throughout the lower tile and edge of the shower pan. The bathroom floor had not been vaccumed or swept before we occupied the room The two young ladies we dealt with, did not treat us with kindness nor in a professional manner... it was as if we were a bother. We took pictures of the soiled bedding and will email a letter to corporate when I find the address. I do want to give kudos to the check in clerk, Venus, who was friendly and professional. Manager Ashlyn seemed genuinely concerned about our horrid experience. Ashlyn was kind and professional. The welcome complimentary Chocolate Chip cookies were super delicious and a surprise to us at check in. I cannot recommend this hotel and I hope this experience is an anomaly. Because of the overnight employees' lack of interest to resolve the issue at the time it was discovered... I will not return... Oh... and the sheets appeared to be so old that the weave was shred in several areas. There was no microwave or refrigerator. We found out later we could have separately rented them had we asked for them. But they should have given us the option. We were advised that only suites were equipped with a microwave and refrigerator.

When my wife suddenly became ill, the General Manager personally got in her car and drove us to the local Emergency Room. The longer we stayed in the room, the more bugs we noticed crawling around. It was absolutely disgusting. We went straight to the front desk and were told this was "normal for the season" and that moving rooms would not help because every room supposedly had bugs too. We had tickets for the Ark the next morning and there was a huge storm coming in, so we did not feel safe trying to drive around an unfamiliar area late at night looking for another hotel. We basically felt trapped into staying there for the night. The next morning I called corporate and was told the hotel agreed to refund everything. I explained we still needed time to find another hotel since we originally planned to stay 2 nights. When I called back around 3 PM after visiting Noah's Ark, suddenly they changed their story and said they were NOT refunding us anymore. After endless back and forth, they finally claimed they would "only" charge us $40 for late checkout and refund the rest, which I agreed to. Then came even more lies and confusion. The employee told me they "didn't know how to process refunds" and that I would need to call back when the manager arrived -- even though the person I had been speaking to, SANDRA, supposedly WAS the manager and had already promised the refund herself. Once we left, they ended up charging us for BOTH nights anyway. When I called the next morning, they completely denied ever offering a refund at all. The customer service was beyond horrible. Every single person gave different stories, lied about who the manager was, and refused to take responsibility. Absolutely one of the nastiest and most dishonest hotel experiences I've ever had. I've filed complaints everywhere possible. Videos of the bugs are on my TikTok, and I'm posting screenshots for proof. Avoid this place at all costs.
