Beware! This guy is awful! I had hired him for a small job,…read moreand he did well, so I thought he could do a slightly bigger job. Boy, was I wrong! He no showed, no response for hours, four times! When he did show up, he did such an awful job, I had to get the work professionally redone. His excuse was that he didn't charge much, so I should not expect it to be done well. He literally said that! He was suppose to do drywall repair, and then texture the walls. He textured first, and then tried to mud over it. It looks like a drunk kindergartner did it. To frame the drywall, he used lumber I had just torn out of the house. Recycling is not the problem. Using wood with nails and wires hanging out of it to frame new drywall is disgusting! He left 3 inch high piles of texture on the floors, sprayed texture in my showers and all over toilets, etc. He even said he was done, and asked me to pay him, when he had forgotten two rooms. He thought I would be dumb enough to pay him, and expect him to return later. Yeah, right! As for unprofessional, he asked me to send him more money on the first day of the job because he didn't have any gas to get home. Save yourself the headache, hire someone else.

Brian is 2nd generation (at least); I started doing business with them when his dad was still running the business. We had a leak in a valley after buying our home and he went up there with a hose, in and out of the attic, etc. He spent a good amount of time figuring out what was going on, and how to best fix it. After fixing it, he said on the way out, "Let me know if it leaks again and we'll come take care of it." You've got to love a company that stands by their work! Over the years we've had a lot of minor repairs done both here and at our home in St Joe, put on a rolled roof, had flashing, shingles, and chimney masonry repair work done, put on a full shingled roof on our primary home, and had gutters completely replaced. They've done it all for a lot less than others bid and I've never had to question the quality of their work. Brian and his team have always been VERY responsive, calling us back right away, getting someone out to make repairs when needed right away, and always standing by their work. They've always gone above and beyond (e.g. coming in to spray oil-based primer over the stains on a 20' ceiling because I couldn't reach it with my ladder after they fixed the leak above. It's those little things that go above and beyond. If anyone ever asks for a roofer recommendation, we don't hesitate to recommend Acord. They've been around a long time, with good reason.

In fact, the door was practically falling to pieces, barely opened, didn't have a deadbolt that latched, and was secured by the type of interior flip-over bar that you see in hotel rooms. It certainly wasn't usable! Clearly, this needed to be addressed. We first had a custom wood door made, sized a little bit big to allow for fitting. But of course, it needed to be installed, and the door frame, threshold, etc. were all in rough shape. Now, the husband is a handy guy, but it was pretty obvious that this project was way above his pay grade. I called ten different handyman services and half of them didn't even call me back, but Bill promptly returned my message and made an appointment to come actually look at the job (I didn't trust anyone giving an estimate from a texted photo!). It was clear from that visit that Bill really understood what was involved and was both able and willing to do a quality job, which was very reassuring. He emailed a nicely detailed estimate, and I was able to put a deposit on a credit card online. Bill was also very easy to reach via text message, which was great. It took a month or two to get worked into Bill's schedule (weather didn't help, as this couldn't be done in the rain), but once he got started, he made our job his top priority. All in all, it took something like five days and involved building a new (square) door frame, fitting and hanging the new door, putting in and keying the knob and deadbolt, installing a new threshold, painting the door, frame, and trim, and even filling in the concrete and caulking along the edge of the house to help prevent water from coming in. I can't even begin to describe all the skills it took to make this happen, and the end result is a GORGEOUS, FUNCTIONAL door that I can't wait to actually use. Needless to say, I can't recommend Bill highly enough. If you want something done right and you're willing to pay for quality, give him a call! I've already got another job in mind for Bill, and he will definitely be my go-to handyman in the future. I can't imagine letting anyone else work on my house!

He also hung several sets of curtain rods, two door viewers, and built a replacement step/landing for the door that leads into the house from the garage. The one we had was too small and he replaced it with one he built by hand and it is extremely well-built and looks great! Very high quality work, does what he says he will do, and does it when he says he will do it. Might be a slight bit more expensive than your average handyman, but you definitely get what you pay for.
