And his staff are just as skilled, friendly, and honest as he is. If you're looking for a free Keurig bar and nice carpets, move along. This is not a chain or a dealership. It's a good old fashioned oily workshop with broken-in chairs and faded signage. The kind of place you can relax and trust you're in good hands. The following week I dropped my truck off on schedule and 2 weeks later the job not was still not done, he handed me the rear cam he did not install saying "maybe I could find someone to install it in CA when I arrived"; the backup camera he installed is calibrated about 8 inches off to the left (which i mentally account for now every time I back up) and the wiring from under the dash continues to fall out when I drive bc it was not re-installed properly after he swapped out the $new sound system$ with the apple-car screen that was "necessary" to use backup camera. Such a shame, I handed him nearly $2K and am left with nothing but problems (oh, and the dash cam drains my battery and I have ended up with a dead battery on more than one occasion 3,000 miles from home, but he can't remember if there was a low-voltage cut off to the cam he hardwired to the fuse box)... Bummer for me. He told me my brakes were 75% fine a little wire on the rotors on the front and a little less in the back, but nothing I had to address right away. Whereas Portland automotive told me I needed a complete thermostat sensor yada yada when they check the codes, this Mechanic and West Hartford said he would do less and then see what happens (instead of trying to gauge me.) what convinced me to get another opinion was reading the reviews on Portland automotive, which seems sketchy, especially by men who probably it appears to me no more about cars versus the women to think they're very nice. Unfortunately, we were in a fender bender and needed our vehicle repaired. I can't comment on pricing because we went through our insurance. From the day we dropped off the car to the day it was finished, it was 13 days total. They mentioned it could take up to a month because they had to wait for parts from the manufacturer, so this was pretty good. Also, they would send us daily texts with updates on our vehicle. Dropping off and picking up the vehicle was easy. Most of the people working there were cordial. The parking lot was spacious; it was easy to get in and out of; it is in a convenient location. The repairs that were done on our vehicle was good. Overall, a good body shop to get auto body repairs, especially if your insurance covers it.
