My family and I have been using these guys for 20+ years for anything related to tires or suspension; always good work, higher price than chain shops esp after they raised rates across the board... but you get what you pay for. Dont live in area anymore, but was going to be in town for a day and planned to get 4 new all seasons. Looking for a specific model of Continental tire - I perused the Connecticut Tire website and chose my tire, selected protection program, full alignment and balance. The manufacturers warranties on some of these tires are great btw. Next screen had me choose a day and time for install...i selected the date when i would be in town which was a week away. I get my quote online and in an email, no payment yet obviously. Figured i was good to go, boom done appt scheduled. Unfortunately no, i show up the day of my supposed appt and was told very little other than "this is a quote only" by the older gentleman who managed to match my already snippy tone. I then pointed out that the email says "Install date: 10am June 17". The man doesnt even look at me and says "well we didnt order them and they arent in stock". Wasnt interested in any other set of boots so i walked out. Hard to imagine a tire shop with a flawless online shopping system that doesnt schedule the appointment for you! Admittedly this is a minor gripe that most customers will never encounter. Annoying since now i have to give my money to some random shop in another state. TDLR: Learn from me and call to order tires or book appt. Dont trust everything you read on the internet. read more

Thanks to a "Welcome to Berlin" coupon, I got a free much-need oil change. Kevin, one of the managers, was very welcoming over the phone and in person. The waiting room was very spacious with free coffee and bottled water. There was even a TV with a remote. My only nit-pick was there were no womanly magazines to read, but luckily I had my Hartford Courant from home. I don't think that I would normally get my oil change there because it would have been $38.00 altogether; I'm not sure if they have any discount coupons circulating though. read more

CT Tire is incapable of following proper torque specs. If you are someone that cares about proper torquing of your lug nuts/lug bolts, do not bring your vehicle here. I specifically asked about this when having my tire patched, and was told "we torque every vehicle to factory specs" - that sounded great to me. Less than a week later I went to rotate my tires, and the only wheel I could not remove from my car was the one worked on by CT Tire. Jumping on a breaker bar did nothing, so I moved on to a standard air hammer. Pounding on the lugs for 10+ minutes did nothing, they wouldn't budge. Luckily, my buddy's father used to work on dump trucks and had a 3/4" air impact hammer available (extremely overkill to remove a passenger vehicle lug). At max setting, this was the only tool that loosened the lugs. I am honestly surprised the lug threads weren't stretched, or there was damage to the rim/wheel hub threads. If I was on the side of the road with a flat, I would have been stranded. As a follow up, I called Don to explain this as feedback, and I was told that is impossible, as if it was my fault. "Company policy is to torque to spec" - there is a difference between reality (torquing to over 160 ft/lbs when the spec is 81 ft/lbs) and "Company Policy". Policies are great, if they are followed. Making a customer feel like they are lying or challenging your work is not the way to go. My car's torque spec is 81 ft/lbs, my invoice from CT Tire says 90 ft/lbs, in reality my lugs were at 160+ ft/lbs. This is an honest review, and this has happened to me twice now. This place would be fine if you don't care, or don't' know anything about proper torquing techniques, however if you do care about this don't bring your car here. It is a shame because I like supporting local companies, however I can't continue to give my money to people that treat me this way. read more

Connecticut Tire has serviced several vehicles that I've owned throughout the years and has consistently done an excellent job installing new tires, balancing & rotating. I've also had a few tires that received punctures from nails or screws and they've saved me additional expense by providing long lasting plugs. Service is great and done in a timely manner. Pricing is fair. Whenever I need tires, or service to my tires, they are my first choice. read more

had a mower tire that needed to be mounted and inflated. tried a chain shop and they wasted about 40 minutes of my time before determining they couldn't do it. called another shop and they referred me to Connecticut Tire. Walked in and was walking out the door with a mounted and inflated tire in about 5 minutes. The person who helped me was very nice and clearly knew what he was doing. will definitely he k with them when it comes time to purchase new tires for my two cars. read more

First thing on a Monday morning -- ran over a HUGE nail and saw it embedded in my tire. Took it to another tire place that offers 'free' plugging for instances just like this....... of course they told me it was not pluggable and I needed a new tire. I told them to put my tire back on my truck -- my gutt told me they were not being truthful. I drove to CT TIre at the recommendation of my mechanic... Keith said he'd take a look and call me back. Within the hour I got a call saying the nail did NOT puncture through the tire wall and that there was no air leaking so they took it out and I was all set. ... All set. No charge, no hassle nothing but perfect customer service. Yup should've saved nearly 2 hours of my time this morning and just gone straight to them. They could've told me they plugged it -- they couldve tried to sell me a new tire ... they could've done a lot of things -- instead they chose to do the 'right' thing - be honest - and take really great care of me. In return - they get this review - I will tell EVERYONE I know - and they will also be my first stop for any of my tire issues from now on. Keith - you rock. One of my tires (Front right) has exposed metal, (pretty bad) and is unsafe to drive. I had gone there with a tire asking if he could simply swap it until i had the ability to get another tire for the lesser worn front left. Guy i spoke with would NOT replace a tire for me even though i had the tire in my trunk. 10 minute job he was going to charge $45 for. Which i was fine with as i needed it done. However, He kept trying to sell me new tires. when i told him i wasnt interested in buying tires as i didnt have the funds to do so and would appreciate it if he could swap out the front right for the time being so the car is at least safe to drive he said he wouldnt do it unless i bought two tires from him. Even though i had a tire in my trunk. Claimed due to the other tire being worn as well he wouldnt swap one as its unsafe. However what he did was even more unsafe. he let a customer leave his business knowing the situation of the car and knowing its unsafe to drive as is, when he had the ability to at least replace the worse worn tire. The front left isnt even that worn, he was just trying to get money out of me. I would never ever go back to this place. dont give them business. they only care about making money. he wanted to charge me nearly $700 for two tires. i can find the exact tires on my car now for $190 a piece online and have installed for $100 or less. If you want first class service, this is the place. Don kept me updated while my vehicle was being worked on and made sure it was stored inside at night. They went above and beyond to get me partial warranty replacement of my tires even though they didn't originally sell them. Price is comparable to in and out tire places but you get real service. I came here to switch out my tires. The service was great and they gave me brand new tires. I felt great to drive on brand new tires. The tires i got lasted pretty long. I would definitely recommend to get your tires at this location. read more
