I bought 2 pairs of shoes at the store in NYC. A pair of kitten heel mules and Mary-janes. When I got home, I noticed the mules' heel was not secure. The little heel was bending sideways when I walked & about to snap! The shop was nice about it, but didn't have the same color so they sold me a different color. I found these still hard to walk in, and tried to return 3 months later unworn. They did not accept the return, which I guess I understand? Wish I'd just taken the refund last time. Shame on me. Today I'm wearing the Mary janes and the heel is *okay* but still kind of wobbly. At $250 each, I won't be shopping here again. read more

I buy items on line all the time and never have experienced this kind of situation. The worst customer service ever. I purchased a pair of pumps online and never received a confirmation. After a week passed, I never received shipping details. Checked my Amex and payment went to her NYC store. I called, spoke with Andrea Carrano, and she couldn't find the order. Told me to call the California store. I reminded her that she received the payment. I asked that she do the investigation. She texted me the number to California and put no effort into looking into it herself. AVOID!!!! This is my very first public review of anything in my life, so it is a good indicator of how annoyed I am. Stopped by the store a day before Thanksgiving, bought a pair of boots which I knew from the get go were extremely uncomfortable, but the owner was there, spoke to me in a charming Italian accent, and I am an impulsive buyer! Upon arrival home, I realized that they were in fact unbearable, so I returned the boots to the store in person a few days later. The owner was super angry with me, offered me a store credit, which I politely refused and asked for a full refund. Was promised a refund within a week; today, however, almost a full month later, I received nothing still. I stopped by the store once more, she reassured me the money was on the way - and nothing! I called the store multiple times, but starting to believe she has my number flagged, as I can clearly hear someone picking up and promptly hanging up lol!! Just filed a dispute with my bank which is not a big deal, but never have I ever encountered a business owner in New York City as shady and deceitful as the lady in this store. The first one I had a response in a couple of days that when the shoes came in they would ship, nothing specific. Let's just start with the obvious. The shoes are beautiful. And the customer service, either Marla or Betta (the NYC owner) are wonderful to work with. One warning: DO NOT BUY THE SHOES ONLINE no matter what the discount is because although the shoes are the same, the store is managed separately and you won't be happy. The phone is never answered and I do mean NEVER and that is in sharp contrast with the NYC store. So enjoy your beautiful AC shoes, just be sure you buy them from Marla or Betta in NYC. They didn't have my size, they got it for me. They didn't have my color, they got it for me. They didn't advertise the online discount, but they honored it. I purchased a pair of shoes in June. They arrived in August. They were horribly uncomfortable and they offered to replace them. On November 1 I reached out to see when they would arrive and they assured me they would ship out that day. On December 1 I asked them to cancel my order and refund my credit card. This is an amendment of my review below. After I posted that, AC contacted me to apologize, saying they would send me the red flats I ordered plus another pair. What color would I like? I really only wanted the red pair, but said...maybe navy? Absolutely! was the response. In a few weeks, two pairs of suede flats arrived: one in navy, and the other in light blue. Still no red?! Still no red! So now I have two blue pairs of suede flats, one a gift, but I still do not have the red flats that I ordered. I appreciate their giving me a pair of shoes, but I had wanted, and had paid for, a pair of red suede loafers, and still have none. Smh. read more

Ordered online 2 pairs of milk pumps, card was charged, no communication from the company. After 5 weeks I contacted the company and finally got my shoes 2 weeks later. Boxes were damaged. Shoes were not wrapped. No travel bags. The shoes are nice but I have gotten handmade leather shoes from Italy for half the price, just as well made, with better packaging and travel bags included. I ordered a pair of red ballerina shoes on March 25th. I was promptly billed for the shoes. As of April 26th 2022 , I have still not received the item I paid for. I contacted them on April 11th, and was given a bull line about covid affecting their shipping but that they expected to receive the item from item that week. But I could have 50 pct off on my next pair..... given that the 50 pct voucher is available online , it was not much of a consolation. That was over 2 weeks ago. I sent another email yesterday requesting a refund or shipping confirmation and have been met with silence. Their shoes are not cheap and to wait over a month to receive an item is absurd . Happened to stroll by this shoe store on morning of Thanksgiving. The store front reminds me of shoe stores in Paris; many cute ballet flats in unique designs in real leathers. Pushed the door to see if it is even open. The designer Ms. Betta Carrano greeted us. She takes great pride in her designs and shoes while being friendly, professional and personable in helping us making the right selections. We were not shoe shopping before we passed by the store. We walked out of the store with one great pair of boots for my daughter and two pairs of ballet flats for me. The pair of boot is made of good leather, with good workmanship and hardware. The sole has lugs for wet weather in NYC winters. We are excited about our new acquisitions. read more

Very, very disappointed. I purchased a pair of black leather boots and on the first wear, the whole heel of the shoe fell off. For a pair of shoes retailed at $500, I suggest saving your money and looking elsewhere. When I went to the store to return the shoes, the woman at the front desk blatantly ignored me for about a minute and acted as though she didn't notice I was there (which was quite literally impossible given the size of the store and my being the only one in there). They then shrugged it off and acted as though the heel falling off was normal. I suspect this wasn't their first time encountering this, as they offered a "quick fix". Never order from this business online! All of their shoes fit differently. I have 2 pairs that fit well. I ordered another 2, in different styles, and they were both uncomfortable and fit poorly. I immediately returned them, in original condition (not worn off the carpeting) and was charged a 15% restocking fee, plus shipping. I checked after and saw that, yes, it was stated on their "returns" section, but I never would have considered that you can't return shoes ordered online without a hefty fee. I have been a dedicated Carrano patron since the early 80s, when the store was on Madison Avenue. The shoes are light on one's feet, stylish, comfortable, and the most reasonably priced of their kind. I searched for alternatives in the years after the original store closed, but even at 2 and 3 times the price, I never found satisfactory equivalents. Overjoyed when my daughter read that Andrea Carrano had reopened on Third Avenue, I have found the styles and shop even more user friendly than before. As in the past, Carrano makes baby flats in a huge variety of colors, materials, and lasts. As someone with a difficult-to-please right foot, I find the sales people patient and accommodating as I try on multiple models. The old standards are made in suede, leather, patent, skin, mesh, prints, and depending on the season may be in bright or muted colors. Some are flats, but Carrano also makes heels of varying heights. Additionally, there are always new styles of shoes and boots. The prices are reasonable, maybe 1/2 to 1/3 of a similar pair of Chloe flats, and the seasonal sales offer terrific value. read more
