This is one of my favorite DSWs and the first location I have ever been to apart from the one in Union Square. This one has many levels with escalators and elevators for the handicapped. I love how they carry many different brands of sneakers, sandals, flats, and boots. I have been a DSW Elite member as long as I can remember. Shoes are at a discounted price compared to the original retailer, which is what is so good about coming to DSW! They also have many perks and offers almost every day! I know they always have good perks like a free canvas tote bag or book bag if you buy a certain amount of shoes. Many discounts when holidays are near and a 2X points accumulator offer on certain days. The shoes are self serve and have many sizes stocked up for you to grab and try. You don't need to ask for a stores associate to get you a pair and they have many stools with mirrors for you to check how the shoes go on your feet. They also have those used once socks if you don't have socks. I recently bought a pair of 408 new balance sneakers in white and blue and they look amazing. Thankfully I bought them in the store because they were sold out online! They also got some cool adidas styles that in fashion. Over the years I have picked up shoes at DSW but they are very hit or miss for men's options. Seems they feature a much more larger selection for women nowadays. Plus, they used to be much more discounted when it comes to pricing. Now it seems you don't get that much of a deal but once in a while you can find some gems. Staff is helpful if looking for a specific size you can't find among the inventory. A nice lady helped me find just what I needed so I bought two pairs. One of the better DSW locations. In all actuality, it's probably the best in NYC. In most locations, you have to go on a scavenger hunt to find an employee, but they actually have an employee on the ground level, who can assist you. They also have other pickup on the ground level, in other locations options, you just have to stand in the regular line and they locate someone who will then assist you in a separate area. This is one of my favorite DSW locations. They have four floors of every imaginable footwear and have many designer brands at discounted prices. Attendants are always ready to assist and don't forget to look at the sale racks. I recently purchased a very nice pair of Vince Camuto shoes for a crazy discounted price, within those racks. As much as I love Uggs I am disappointed in the purchase I made. Ugg gloves do not keep your hands warm, my thumbs are frozen each time, and NYC is not that cold. Ugg boots I purchased; I walked out the day after the rain. Streets were wet but it did not rain yet my boots got soaked at 100% and it took a week for them to dry. Not to mention I had to go and buy emergency boots on the spot given I couldn't have spent the day in winter in soaked Uggs. read more

This is one of the biggest DSWs in Manhattan and they have a HUGE selection with a few floors of sneakers, casual shoes and tons of accessories. Despite the fact that this spot is smack in the middle of a busy Penn Station area, it's pretty easy to shop in and they often have great sales. The employees are really welcoming and take time to give you a discount if you're a member and don't know if you have a coupon on your membership. I've been shopping at this DSW since at least 2019 and they're always fully stocked and no one bothers you asking if you need "help"! Thank goodness! came here to get a pair of running sneakers that i could wreck...by running in them. sadly, they don't make sneakers like they used to...5 years ago to be exact lol. all the footwear is above street level--separated by floors--dedicated to women's shoes and men's footwear. mens is on the third floor. the store is pretty clean, well, organized, and brightly lit. it's easy to find sneakers via size on shelf. checkout can be a bit trying bc there never seems to be enough cashiers. also DSW, the company, doesn't make things easy for their employees by making all of their sales and rewards promotions so complicated and full of fine print exceptions etc. wish they would just do away with the all the app and sales shenanigans and just guarantee "best price"--it would speed things up bc half the reason there is a line at checkout is bc a cashier and a customer are trying to figure out some weird sales snag or apply coupons or some nonsense. my advice--if you see a large line at checkout...leave and come back...the wait isn't worth it. again this is more about the way all DSW stores in NYC are run bc i am sure the employee wish they got more help and the sales promotions were simpler. read more

I ordered a pair of Doc Martens boots for online pickup. They did not properly process the order so when I arrived, DSW did not check their stock and canceled it while I was there. After being asked browse the store for another pair, I found another pair of boots that I liked...but then the employee on the floor didn't check the stock. So they gave me two left boots and never checked for a right boot. Now I have to go back to the store and return them. Very poor and unorganized service. Never going there again. read more

This store is a shit show. Shoes everywhere, frantic employees. Poorly managed. Escalator broken so they packed 12 people on an elevator during a pandemic. I ordered shoes online at 9am. I get to the store @4:30pm. My order still hasn't even been reviewed. I'm thinking ok... 7 hours... I just stop by and pick up the shoes I paid for while on my lunch break. When I arrive a frantic young employee with curly hair and sweat pants says he can't find my shoes and that despite DSW taking my money ( $170) that there is no guarantee they have my shoes. I WAIT AN HOUR for this dummy to tell me that my shoes probably were already probably bought by someone because this store is so disorganized that they didn't take my shoes off the shelf for 7 hours. Needless to say I will never buy anything from this place again. A major inconvenience to me as I needed these shoes for an event I was attending. I walked across the street to Macy's where literally I got shoes for $50 less and tried them on and was out of the store within 15 mins. read more

This afternoon I went to DSW on 14th St. to get a new pair of shoes. I found a pair, but they didn't have my size on the floor. The sign said, "ask an associate" so I did. He waved me off and said we only have what's out and walked away. I took the pair of shoes and walked over to a group of associates. One in particular Brooklyn said oh we might have size in the back let me look and off she went. She then came back to inform me no they did not. However, I could order it online, and also suggested another pair, which was very similar. I decided to order my original selection, and Brooklyn took care of the order. Kudos to Brooklyn she went above and beyond, or actually, she just really did her job well. So if you go to DSW on 14th St. and need help, look for Brooklyn. Love DSW for shoes, but this is not my favorite location. Since it is near Penn Station, there are a lot of tourists, and the lines can be long depending on when you go. You can only take the elevator (no escalator) to get from the main entrance to the 2nd floor where the actual shoes are - Check out the clearance section on the top floor first! You never know what gems you might discover there. The shoe boxes have color stickers on them that correspond to a specific percentage off the original price - Join their rewards program for free that allows you to accumulate points and get extra discounts (including $5 off for your birthday). They will ask for your phone number at the check-out, and they should let you know if there are any applicable discounts associated with your account that can be used towards your purchase - For each week you donate a pair of shoes (new or gently worn), then you get 50 points. Note that if you donate more than 1 pair in the same week, you can't get more than 50 points. If you want to maximize the number of points, then only donate 1 pair per week. You need 100 points for $5 off. It was early evening and I only had a few hours to find the perfect pair of cute but comfortable black shoes to a special dinner with friends. The tricky part was matching shoes with the dress I was dying to wear--a collared vegan leather sleeveless number with front and back zips. As a statement piece, tough to find comfortable shoes that didn't detract from or overwhelm the look. Toyia to the rescue--I showed her a picture of the dress and she tirelessly spent time showing me wedges, booties, mid-calfs, and even trying on a gorgeous pair of silver sparkle boots so I could see how they looked. Beware of in-store pick ups!!! It's A WHOLE ASS SCAM! I ordered shoes online earlier today off the dsw website. I selected this location as my pick up and ordered accordingly to what they showed was available. After I finished my last few classes I headed straight to the store. Upon my arrival I was told I was too early and to return when I received a confirmation email stating my shoes were ready. Which is fine, no complaints the website states after ordering it would be available within 3-4 hours. Having to catch a train I didnt have that time so I went to go search for the shoes to help speed up the process. (Since I had already paid in full for them). I found both shoes and felt hopeful for a speedy checkout. However, apparently that wasn't allowed and if I wanted to buy the shoes I found myself I would have to re-purchase them and cancel my order online and wait 5-7 business days for a re-fund. ....y'all are bugging. So I decided not to argue head home to wait for my confirmation email. 3 hours later I receive an email saying "Your Order Is Ready to Be Picked Up". However now, I checked my email to find a follow email stating that my "order has changed" and the shoes are "no longer available". HOW? Why are you advertising available items online if you don't even know they will be there when the time comes?! And why when I found them myself was I not able to complete this horrific transaction and move on?! I am so annoyed - please if you enjoy your sanity do not buy shoes online for pick up. There's literally no guarantee of anything actually being available. Youre better off shipping them to your house or just paying at the store. This was meant to speed up the process of purchasing but only caused tremendous delay and frustration. DSW, you have been in the game wayyyy too long to not have these things squared away by now. This review is based on the pickup order experience I had at this store on May 11th. I ordered a tote bag and went to the store when it was ready. The pickup kiosk is on the ground level by the door when you enter so I appreciate the fact that you don't have to go upstairs to get your items. The clerk at the kiosk, Wanda, gave me the bag and told me to make sure everything looked okay before I left the store. Unfortunately the bag had some marks on it and appeared cheap in quality. I can't blame DSW because the bag was shipped directly from the vendor. I showed Wanda the bag and she said I could return the bag upstairs. As I was headed up, she stopped me and told me to wait so she can check to see if she can process the return at the kiosk so I wouldn't have to wait on line upstairs. It was Mother's Day weekend and apparently the store was quite busy. Anyway, she was able to process the return and saved me the hassle of waiting in line which was awesome since I was already sad about the bag falling through. This is my go-to place for picking up shoes. They have great prices (their regular price is already discounted compared to other retailers) and also a good sale section sorted by size where there are further discounts. Each box has a color sticker on it, and based on the color, you can check what the extra percentage off is. This store has three large stories filled with various shoes, so the selection is pretty large. I encountered some issues using coupons that they had sent to my account, and the checkout person was not able to apply all my coupons. But I still scored a pair of Enzo Angiolini over the knee boots for about $30 that look just like Stuart Weitzmans, so I was pretty happy overall. read more

Perfect location for tourist. Is one block or less away pennsivalnia station. A 15 min walk to or from times square Staff is not friendly at all. Most of them very rude. Place is clean. Very spacious, easy access from floor to floor via elevator and/or escalator. They also have cashiers on each floor so you don't have to trek down with your hands full to find a place to check out. Ok, word of advice if you are a size 7.5 in a women shoe the clearance isle is always busy. The door to where the workers hide in always come out in a rush. There is more traffic in this isle then there is at the front door. REMEMBER CLEARANCE is on the top floor for both men and women. Aside from that annoying isle they really have some great deals. The staff really knows their stuff. I would recommend people go to this location if they are not a size 7.5. Some of the escalators didn't work on 2/2/16 so use the elevator if you are nursing an injury. read more

Tucked away only a couple blocks from Macy's is this branch of DSW. Head up the escalators or elevator and you'll find yourself in the midst of a wide selection of shoes. I'll be honest, stores like this scare me since they often seem chaotic and finding anything you need is near impossible. THEN you have long lines to deal with and that just culminates in a terrible shopping experience. NOT SO with this location. Indeed, I was very happy to see how calm and organized the entire place was. No errant shoes in the aisles, no crowds frantically tossing boxes aside. Instead, even with a tourist crowd mingling with locals there was plenty of room to move around and I never had any problems finding a seat to try shoes on. I sometimes have problems finding shoes because I need EEE shoes. No problem here. Virtually every pair of shoes I looked at had a wide pair for me to try, and within twenty minutes I managed to find the pair I needed. Even better? Checking out took no more than five minutes. I only had one person ahead of me. My cashier was completely professional and even checked to make sure both shoes were the same size! Great shopping experience. I'd come back any time. read more
