    Chicken on linguine
    Jean M.

Our friend told us about this place and was worried because I'm Italian, I cook and we just returned from a month in Italy. Well Andreas did not disappoint at all. Each dish we had was excellent. Made fresh and homemade. Great friendly service. We had some tortellini in a cream sauce with ham that was out of this world good. A chicken penne pesto cream sauce that was made perfectly. Chicken on linguine, also eggplant parmigiana with vegetables. Each dish was hot fresh and delicious. I will go again and enjoy more dishes. Go!! That's all I'll say, GO!

The filet mignon, about $12.50, a tasty and filling bargain!

Conveniently located on the cobblestoned artery between our hotel and Zona Centro's social hub, Jardin Allende, this three-floor cafe was compact but surprisingly relaxing given the constrained layout of the seating. The cafe's name translates appropriately to "good aromas" since the roasted beans wafted throughout the space. On our first visit, we arrived in the middle of the afternoon and treated ourselves to the MX$85 Affogato, a nice combo of vanilla gelato and an espresso shot (Photo 10). We came back the following morning when the place was literally percolating with customers. This time we shared a table on the rooftop. What I appreciated was how the owner had no compunction about telling laptoppers not to monopolize tables clearly set up for multiple people. This time we had true beverages with their own twists. I had the MX$60 Cococcino, a cappuccino with a touch of coconut oil, and Jamie went for the MX$70 Iced Buzz Latte with honey and a double espresso shot (Photo 9). Both perfectly satisfied because beyond the quality of the beans, we saw the exacting process they followed in their execution. It was a smooth brew in a chill space that was obviously attracting a lot of expats. I wish we had more time for a third visit. I have gotten my coffee and pastries and hung-out hassle free for at least an hour the last few days. I have been staying at my friend's hacienda literally across the street so this place was incredibly convenient. Today at around 935, I came in to get my coffee and banana bread, and was also hoping to sit down and read the news. I only had a few more hours left before heading to the airport to fly back home to Chicago and was determined to enjoy every last minute I can squeeze in before flying back to reality. So imagine my disbelief when I placed my order and I was told I can only get it to go and that I was not allowed to stay because they are closed for maintenance. I told the server/cashier well how come everyone is still here enjoying their drink/food/gossip, and I was being told to leave? I even pointed out that he had just set two beautiful lattes down at the table of these two ladies who were just settling in to their table (the same one I had actually wanted to sit at.) The server insisted everyone was done. And that I have to leave. I checked their hours on help and it said they're open until 6pm. I didn't want to make a scene so I left but I told my host about it. He's friends with the owner and he was shocked at the way I was treated. For the record, I was the only non-white person inside the cafe. So, never again. And to future customers, go at your own risk. Unless you're white. Then you can move in.

I've been a coffee nerd for a few decades and a home roaster for about 2 years. TL/DR: I love this place. More detailed write-up: Staff: Super friendly and did their best to accommodate my poor Spanish skills. Coffee: All of their beans come from 3 regions in Mexico and you can get your drinks made from single-origin medium roasts or a blend. There's also a darker "robusto" roast if you're into that. Over the course of my week in town, I had drinks made with everything except the decaf. All of the roasting is done in-house on a beautiful, locally-made roaster. From a flavor standpoint, I found something to appreciate in each drink I had, and the quality level was up there with some of my favorite spots in my hometown of Portland, Oregon. The one area where I saw room for improvement was in the realm of latte art. Some of the guys had better skills than others, but in the grand scheme of things, I'm there to drink my coffee, not look at it. Processes: This part's pretty cool, and you don't see it very often. Once you select your bean, you can choose from a range of processes, including aeropress, pour over, espresso machine, and a few others. It's a nice way to explore the different aspects of a particular bean or roast. Crowd pleasers: If you've got someone in the group that's not a coffee purist, their mocha made my wife happier than I'd care to admit ; ) Get over there. Drink coffee.

We were the only patrons when we arrived but there was an amazing guitarist/singer performing so we got our own little private show! She was really so amazing. For food, he got the chilaquiles divorciados (half red sauce, half green sauce) and I got the huevos albanil (eggs on a tortilla with a tomato salsa on top). Both dishes, while simple, were so delicious! I loved the beans, too! They offer a combo, which we both took advantage of, so I got fresh fruit on the side and he got a house-made juice. The combo also comes with 2 cups of coffee and trust me, you want the coffee! It was some of the best I've had in a long time! Our service was great and the courtyard seating area was nice. We also enjoyed checking out the attached art gallery after we finished eating.
