We had a fantastic stay at the Andrew Pinckney Inn! The rooms were great, the location was perfect, and the entire staff made us feel incredibly welcome. One of the highlights was the complimentary afternoon happy hour -- such a nice touch and something we looked forward to each day. And the "Solarium" (their enclosed rooftop room) had fantastic view of the city!) But what really made it special was Henriette, who hosted the happy hour. She was absolutely the best! Warm, friendly, attentive, and genuinely fun to talk with. She made an already great experience even more memorable. Disappointed in my stay here. For such a high price, I expect top service and that isn't what I received. You're paying for the location, which is great, very easy to get everywhere. But I've paid far less for far better service and experience. That said, there are definitely positives. It's a fun, charming spot, and the breakfast and wine hour were excellent!! Easily the highlight of my stay. However, the room was just.. fine. The bed was comfortable and the shower was clean and nice, but the windows were dirty and the towels were very scratchy, which took away from the overall feel. The text service was not utilized, I wasn't informed about amenities like cookies at the front desk (actually was not even offered one when I went down to pick up my car) or other small touches that could have enhanced the stay. The one time I did use the text service to request a bathrobe (which I would expect to be available at this price point), I was simply told they don't have any, with no follow-up or alternative offered. With this expensive of a room I also expect a turn-down service of some kind. Especially since there's also no bar, or a restaurant, or gym, I would want other aspects to make up for that. Lastly, the staff were hit or miss in terms of hospitality. The valet and breakfast staff were all very very nice, but the front desk staff were often uninterested and unhelpful. For example, when I was checking out I asked for a late checkout and was interrupted before I could finish my sentence with "noon is the latest we can do". Which is what I was going to request anyway, lol. They also knocked on my door 15 minutes before my checkout time and told me I was taking too long to pack up. Overall, it felt very close to being an outstanding stay, but it missed the mark in several small ways that added up. We stayed here during a family trip and had a mixed experience. The location is fantastic, very close to everything, the French Market, in the heart of downtown. Decent rates. The hotel is spread out between two buildings (cute yellow painted ones), a tad strange. I didn't think front desk was super nice, they did their jobs, got us in and out, but where is the Southern Hospitality, no details about Happy Hour, breakfast, etc. I wish they would have a jug of water in reception area (there's coffee, but water would be great!). The rooms are in the building across the street. Our rooms were right next to elevator, we styed here for 1 night, if we would have booked for more time, I would have changed the rooms. It was noisy, it never disappoints, some late night party people got out of the elevator after midnight, tooo loud and woke us up. The rooms are small, no decent views, could be cleaner. But didn't hang out a lot in there. The Happy Hour is a great bonus (starts at 4 or 5 pm?- double check), the lady working here was nice, we got some red wine, water, she had nice platters of cheese, cold cuts, nuts, fruit, crackers and pickles, mostly pickled okra which I love to have since I get this treat only when I visit Charleston. Nice tables, great space and views around the city. Con? We had a lady who showed up to tell us stories about the city. I think it was a bit much. Nice lady, but we just wanted to chill, talk to each other, catch up. When you visit Charleston you get tired of tours, so we didn't need an extra one while trying to relax. Frankly, it made us leave! Breakfast is another plus! Same space upstairs where they have the cocktail hour. It's not your regular American hotel fare which is usually next to nothing at breakfast. You get a huuuge spread, I do recommend the biscuits (nice, hot, local), the quiche-s, the fresh pastries from local bakery, great selection. There's coffee, fresh orange juice, fresh fruit. And lots more- toast, jelly, cereal (but why get that when you have local goodies), etc. Cynthia, the lady who sets it up is helpful, great to refill everything, nice and caring. Very friendly! Great location, great rooms, wonderful valet service. It really is close to a lot of walking locations. We didn't find the breakfast to be any better than a regular hotel's continental breakfast. Maybe even less options. Walking across the street to get breakfast was not an issue for us, and the views were nice. We didn't find the front desk as helpful as most who are doing reviews. Yes, they are warm and friendly! But we found asking about anything beyond the historic part of the city was a stretch for most of them, which was a little disappointing. We were there for a week, so we were exploring the whole Charleston area. We were also glad we didn't take their advice when they told us we really should walk the mile to the Fort Sumter Visitor Center because there's simply no parking there. We drove and found tons of parking. The parking garage there is super cheap and it's on the doorstep of the VC. As we said, the valet service was amazing. We like to tip, but not constantly. We prefer to give larger amounts after an accumulation of days. The Inn offers what appears to be a wonderful solution. Scan a QR code and tip individuals any amount you like, whenever you like. Great idea! We tipped one of the valets $5 through this system, only to find out our tip turned into $5.46. Yea, processing fees or something like that. I couldn't believe the Inn passed that charge on to us. Totally turned me off. I didn't use it again and started feeling the Inn was being a little cheap about things for the amount they are charging to stay there. (All of a sudden, I'm a little pissed we don't have a smart TV. Once inside we were greeted by Brittany and Rebecca with warm smiles and fresh baked cookies and reminded that the hotel offers a complimentary wine and cheese hour in the solarium and beautiful full breakfast each morning. When we stopping in for the wine and cheese reception Barbara was our host and she was awesome! By the way she also had homemade pimento cheese spread as well as many other treats. Another perk that I personally loved with the text concierge, they promptly respond to any questions or needs you might have during your stay. This is the place to stay when visiting Charleston! It is right in the middle of it all! The rooms were immaculate and the service was perfection! These people performed like they were working at the Four Seasons or the Waldorf. The breakfast buffet (included) was wonderful with a spectacular view. It is within walking distance of every place we wanted to go. And by the way, you can't hear any room around you in either direction. We felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. I will forever pick the Andrew Pinckney Inn to stay in whenever I am in Charleston. The location, staff, and amenities are above and beyond and I cannot rave about them more. So first off, their location is prime time. You are walking distance from everything, and the nice thing is they have a valet parking so you do not have to stress about finding a parking deck, street parking, etc when you arrive. The parking is also right next to the hotel, so getting your car to depart is also hassle free. When you check in, they have two buildings, that both have rooms. We got had a room across from where you check in, in the other building, which honestly was perfect because they do the breakfast and the wine hour in that building. The room itself was a good size, we had two queen beds, a nice bathroom and mirror outside the bathroom/shower which, for two girls sharing a room is fantastic. There is not much of a view, but that is really not a selling point for me regardless. The breakfast was fantastic and came from a local bakery. Everything was so good and fresh. Not to mention, they even had fresh quiches, and omelets on site, along with the normal fruit, yogurt, cereals. But once of the best parts was the wine "hour". I say hour because really it went for an hour and a half and started at 4:00pm. They had various wines, that they kept on pouring, and had little cheese and meat plates they handed out. It was so much fun, we absolutely loved the lady working the wine nights and had such a wonderful girls trip. read more

Valet took my car but did not offer to help with luggage. TV had no menu and no connection to streaming services. I was told to "just push the channel button and stop at each channel to see if there's something you want to watch". Windows are filthy and shades broken. Noisiest hotel I've ever been in! Every sound from the next rooms, hallway, upstairs can be heard. At his price point, extremely disappointing. I'll look elsewhere on my next visit. Where's the hospitality? Called to confirm my reservation slight after 7am and spoke with a gentleman that seemed bothered by my call. Thinking nothing of it until I arrived and attempted to check in. The young lady seemed very robotic, never requested to see my id or credit card for incidentals. The area for checking in was filled with little goodies, however I was offered anything. If you have a food allergy, verify before eating. My fiancé. And I was hoping to sit in the courtyard after dinning out, however the area was filled with guests smoking. Our room was small but the window was covered with some kind of yellow wax paper. This is Charleston, but not being able to see out the window was puzzling. The one shining star was the ladies on the 4th floor who socialized and offered several great tips for our visit while we were working with our realtor. Sad but for use it was just a place to stay overnight. We shall be checking into another property tomorrow read more

I stayed here for one week and it was a great experience. The downtown location can't be beat: close to many historic sites, good restaurants, and boutique shopping. It is also a little off the main streets, so is generally quiet. There is free breakfast and wine & cheese daily in the solarium, which provides a beautiful view of Cooper River and the streets below. There is usually a daily valet parking fee, but at the present time, there is free self-parking. The lot is kind of small and some guests have very large cars/trucks, so it's important to be careful while entering and exiting, especially when the entrance/exit is only one lane wide. I stayed in a room without windows. The only thing I wished I had was a window that opened. During the summer, it can get quite stuffy. Even with air conditioning, the room can be cool but still stuffy. Because I stayed in the room for one week, I had to occasionally air out the room with the door open. By the way, I never found out who was Andrew Pinckney. If anyone knows, let me know! read more

We had a wonderful stay at the Andrew Pinckney Hotel! The rooms were spacious, newly renovated and decorated with a classy upscale look. The wine & cheese happy hour was delightful in the solarium over looking Charleston, with Harritte serving, and generously pouring the wine. We mingled with quite a nice assortment of guests from all over the world! Complementary breakfast was FANTASTIC, with (the very much appreciated) Gluten Free homemade muffins and assorted pastries. Even French toast, potato casserole and an egg soufflé! The assistant manager Gabrielle was very attentive and friendly, as well as Rebecca at the front desk, who helped us navigate the city of Charleston. For two senior married ladies, out on the town for the night, the streets felt very safe for strolling after dinner. We were comfortable walking the short distance to all the most popular attractions around our hotel, located in the heart of historic Charleston. The Andrew Pinckney Hotel is definitely on the agenda for my next stay in Charleston! read more

A beautiful hotel in a great location in downtown Charleston. We stayed in a Junior Suite which was beautiful and very spacious for a hotel room in a city. The room included a couch, a King bed, a desk area, and was very open. The room does not include a refrigerator or microwave, but does include a Keurig coffee maker. The bathroom was a little tight. There was separation between the sink and shower/toilet room which made it easier for two people to get ready at the same time. The location can't be beat. The Charleston City Market is just steps away from the hotel. A very short walk away is Bay Street where many good restaurants are located like Magnolia's and Poogan's Smokehouse. It was less than a 10 minute walk to King Street for a large selection of shopping. Waterfront Park is less than a five minute walk and it is a short walk to White Point Garden and Rainbow Row. We were easily able to walk to everything. Each stay includes a continental breakfast and a wine and cheese hour. The lobby always had lemonade, tea, coffee, and cookies as well. The continental breakfast was good for a light breakfast each morning. They also had some frozen quiche for those that want something a bit heavier for breakfast. The wine hour was great our first night and had a nice variety of cheeses, two types of wine, boiled peanuts, and some fruit. The second night the wine hour was more sparse, but was still fine for being offered as part of the stay. The best part of breakfast and wine hour was the rooftop patio to enjoy it all on. The only real miss with Andrew Pinckney Inn for us was some of the hotel staff. The good was that the three valets we encountered were all were very helpful and welcoming. They hit the mark for the service you'd expect at a small hotel/inn. The woman that was running breakfast each morning was also very friendly.The office employees weren't rude, but they definitely didn't go out of their way to make us feel welcome. The couple of times we stopped into the office they seemed put out to answer simple questions and we had to greet them instead of the other way around. The two woman that were running the wine hour both evenings of our stay were very unfriendly and couldn't be bothered to greet guests as they arrived or smile at anyone. One of the perks of other small hotels we've stayed at in the past was extra attention to good service and this just missed the mark. I had a great recommendation to stay here and was soooooo excited to be in a boutique hotel in Charleston. We got here and it's adorable, very clean, nice, friendly... concierge gave great recommendation for lunch while our room was getting ready. Came back and got a very small king room with no bath tub... all pics on website show a bathtub. Went to take a nap and there was blood on my sheets and I had to ask them to come and switch the sheets out while we were at dinner. Very, very gross. They are very friendly and kind and did change the sheets promptly. Happy hour and breakfast is included, so excited to try that today but overall feeling a tad bummed about the small things this far. Do very much appreciate the pack n play for our baby. read more

We stayed in a room on the 3rd floor, which was well appointed and very comfortable. The staff was courteous, kind and went to a lot of trouble to make us happy. The breakfast on the 4th floor was very tasty and there were plenty of options. The Inn is within walking distance of the market, restaurants, shops and carriage rides. We had a spooky weird experience in the room, which has been a source of discussion. Both my wife and I caught something moving out of the corner of our eyes next to the mirror. I was really looking forward to our stay at the Andrew Pickney Inn. I wanted to stay in a quaint place vs a chain and the online description was very enticing. I booked using a third party travel site and was given the choice to pick a double queen room or room selected upon check-in. I thought I would leave it up to chance and go with the room upon arrival and in hindsight, I should have picked the two queen room. The Inn has two buildings- one where you check-in and do valet with a few rooms upstairs and then another bright yellow building across the street. We pulled up in our car and it took a few minutes for valet to greet us. We unloaded our bags and checked in. The desk agent was nice and did a good job reciting all the information about breakfast, reception, etc. We were given room 211 and I would never pick this room or any other room facing the interior courtyard of the other building. We crossed the street and took the elevator to the 2nd floor. You have to maneuver big chairs and tables to get to room 211 and the surrounding rooms and there is hardly any space. Add suitcases and people sitting and reading and you have a real traffic jam. Our room had a an antique queen bed and no windows. We were also put in an accessible room with a stand up shower and no bathtub. If I had picked the two queen room, I would have gotten a window and tub. The room was loud and you could hear everything next door , outside the room and elevator shaft noises all day and night. We had to turn on the loud buzzing ac unit in the room to drown out the noise. The room was very very small and if you want a windowless , prison-like room, ask for 211. There was a turn-down service on the first night and little chocolates were left on the bed. Reception: there is a daily wine reception on the 4th floor patio from 4-5 with wines and cheeses. The view is great. Breakfast: the morning complimentary breakfast is 7-10am on the rooftop patio and is more than continental. The selection of pastries, biscuits and gravy, fruit, yoghurts, and coffee and teas is very nice. The view also makes it very unique. The reception and breakfast changed my mind a bit and the location is very hard to beat. You are in the heart of Charleston and can walk to Meeting Street or the City Market in no time. The finale that just demoted the star review to a 2 is how our car was returned. The valet price is $25 a Day and the cars get parked in the small courtyard right next door. Our car was COVERED in bird poop. For $50, I am not asking for much but at this point after two uncomfortable nights in a dark, small and loud room, I am not happy. I would suggest you re-evaluate the parking or hand out $8 car wash vouchers. I will not be returning. read more

Location is amazing, literally within 1-1.5 miles from almost EVERYTHING and a cheap Uber ride from anything else. Highly suggest for couples, but I can say (and nothing against kids) - if you are there with couples with kids, the walls are paper thin. So if people aren't respectful of time/noise, you may have a less than desirable time. Also, we were underneath the breakfast room which was VERY loud (3rd floor). I recently stayed here for 3 nights, 4 days for my husbands 50th. Room was great, loved the breakfast/wine that's included. Barbara was so sweet & wonderful. I have to say though, the front desk staff is so unfriendly and not inviting whatsoever. Upon arrival, Rebecca was not welcoming and had a sour puss on her face like we were bothering her. Upon departure, the guy (I forget his name) also very unfriendly. Didn't ask how our stay was, no smile, no thank you for staying with us, nothing. Price wasn't bad but I got what I paid for. The room was small -- like NYC room size (which is small and not what I'd expect outside a huge metropolitan city). The wood floor definitely showed wear and tear. I had an internal view of the building which I found pretty awkward since people can walk right by my window and a lot of the light can pour in from the hallway/atrium. The only other negative was I had 1 or 2 bugs flying around. It didn't look like it was because the place was unclean but somehow bugs managed to get in. That said, the staff was nice. They have a nice setup of free beverages in the lobby and a complimentary breakfast on a beautiful terrace overlooking the city. read more

Seems like a very poor business model that does not have enough foresight to have some type of insurance policy in place for income loss if you are doing business in a place that does get hurricanes. Super nice! We stayed at the Phillip's suite! Very private and in a central location. Very clean room! Enjoyed the bed was cozy, the bathroom was amazing! Super big shower, nice bathtub and love the door! Only down was a humidifier that kept asking to be clean every 8 hours. I wish the person in the counter would have told us to check it before going to sleep. During our first night it went off and woke us up! Location is amazing and great cleaning of common areas! I loved that this tiny inn was romantic and helpful! Loved the gifts in our room and the social distance map and treats! The breakfast was free. We tried it night 1 but we wanted to check out local shops so we only tried it once. I loved the views from our room. TV satellite was bad, but WiFi was good! Friendly staff! Stayed here as a treat for one of my first post-vaccination vacations, and enjoyed many parts of my stay. The staff was friendly and happy to hold onto my things before check-in and after I checked out. The rooms are spacious and pretty, and the building itself is visually similar to the architecture Charleston is known for. And it's not too far of a walk from King St, the Battery, and other areas of interest. They offer complimentary breakfast service, either delivered to your door or in the solarium across the street, and due to COVID did not provide housekeeping services unless requested. Overall the stay was fine, but with a few cons. 1. They have a text service so you can text the front desk with any needs. I liked this, especially during COVID so you don't have to be in person every time you need something. But they also text you multiple times a day to ask you to rate your stay so far--gets a little annoying when you're trying to enjoy your time in the city. This was mirrored in the staff--on our last day, they came knocking on our door at 8am to check if we were still there (and checkout isn't until 11). 2. We opted for room service breakfast throughout our stay, and they got our order wrong half the time. Didn't make a huge impact since there's plenty of breakfast places in the area we wanted to try, but felt bad wasting food we didn't order and couldn't eat because of dietary restrictions. read more
