I attended a conference at this hotel. The location is in walking distance to many unique restaurants, shopping, open air (sort of) type market, and even a Target. We valeted the car and didn't use it again until we left. Check in was easy and the front desk staff were very friendly. The room was spacious and clean with a desk and couch. I did not require housekeeping during my stay since it was just me in the room but I received a text each night letting me know even though I chose no service to let them know if I needed anything. Breakfast was included in the morning and I must say they had the best scrambled eggs I have ever had on a buffet - sounds crazy, I know, but true! They were soft and had flavor! Kudos to the morning chef. That is super hard to do when feeding the masses. Check out was just as easy. Our wait for Valet and having to pay for it separately were our only complaints.

    Stained sheets.

I knew this building was older, however that does not mean that the rooms should be dirty. The first room I stayed in had hairs in the bathroom so I went to the front desk and they switched my room. The new room was better, until I got in bed. I could tell that the sheets have been washed, but I feel like if it has a stain, then they shouldn't be used? I also woke up to the lovely sound of construction above my room at 9am sharp. The people are nice, but it is not worth the price.

This hotel is known for consistency in customer service, offerings (morning breakfast), open lobby area, clean rooms and quality staff. If you are not seeking the boutique, historic or high end Charleston hotel experience this is a great choice. The location on upper King makes you close to most dining and shopping. The parking garage provides ample parking.

Not what I was expecting for $500 almost the night... Bathroom paint is peeling from multiple spots off the ceiling and on the base of the walls... At $250 not a big deal at $500 a night not acceptable... Breakfast was very nice and included ... service at front desk was very nice but for a hotel charge me this kind of money The bathroom was totally unacceptable ... close to giving hotel 1 star but it was nice location and staff was super friendly

A solid hotel in what ended up being a fantastic location. Having never been to Charleston before the "map location" looked a little far north of what we might have wanted to aim for, but we saw right away there was so much right outside the hotel on and right around King Street. The rooms are njce, the beds are comfortable, and there's plenty of room to hang around without needing to sit on the bed. Couch, small kitchen, rotating TV, counter seating/office chair...all very well thought out. My only meh about the room is that the shower water pressure could have been improved a bit. The breakfast was free, and was just enough to keep us from needing to venture out. It was basic, but far from continental--hot food included bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, eggs (powdered, not fresh cracked, for sure) and oatmeal (well, in packets). They also had coffee, juice, toast, and cereal. It was fine...but I won't complain, because...free. The gym is well equipped and overlooks the indoor pool, which was much warmer than I thought it would be, in a very good way. I took a few dips while we were here. I would say that the oddest thing is that this hotel is actually TWO hotels -- Hyatt House and Hyatt Place. Same address. Same building. Same amenities. Same breakfast. Different stairs. If you happen to use one set of stairs to, say, go to the gym, and then, say, accidentally take a different set of stairs up...you may very well end up in a different hotel. That looks the same. Except you will not be able to find your room number. And the elevator is in a different place. And they are in no way connected other than through the lobby. And only some stairs. And that's...confusing. (I did eventually find my way back to the different (but same) hotel, where I can only assume the differences lie within the rooms themselves.) In any case, this is a very nice and relatively inexpensive hotel more than suited for a weekend away that you may (or may not) get slightly turned around in, depending on your choice of stairwell. Plus, free breakfast.

I was able to check in very early and had a nice clean spacious room. The hotel is in a great location, surrounded by bars, restaurants, shopping, and historic sites. The hotel has a little market well stocked with snacks, water, soda, and alcohol. Breakfast was a very pleasant surprise. It wasn't the usual grab and go post covid breakfast. It was a full breakfast spread and the dining area is so large that you can sit and eat away from people if you want to. I only stayed for one night. I would gladly go back again for a longer stay.

The nice amenities, decent gym and friendly staff are what creates the environment for a pleasant experience. Two of these were met and the friendly staff, was mostly there. . .but one sour apple truly changed the course of our stay. Even my wife, who worked once upon a time in hospitality at Kiawah Resort, was started by the interactions from The Loutrel Hotel staff member. Long story short. The daily complimentary breakfast was served. I accidentally went to place the granola lid on the yogurt, my wife told me that was the wrong lid and I went to correct. From across the room the breakfast attendant yelled, "sir that doesn't go there." Startled, I immediately removed it and placed it accordingly. I laughed it off. Moments later I went to sit my breakfast down where my drink was located. Same attendant, "you're not even sitting at the right table with your wife." Again, my error, but don't call me out twice in one morning. It's a small lobby, so many staff members overheard the interaction. Nothing was done by other management. The next morning, I walked down to look at breakfast. I saw the same attendant and said, good morning. She looked at me but wasn't pleasant in her response. Unlike the rest of her colleagues at the restaurant who are polite and kind, the same customer service I expect and provide to my customers. Breakfast offered salmon with some type of eggs or shellfish. I can't eat shellfish, allergic. So, I went to grab a biscuit at a local coffee shop and a coffee. We came back to the hotel and sat our food down. The same rude attendant came over, nudged my wife in her back and said, "you can't have this here, cross contamination." So, I left. Allowed my wife to eat her yogurt in the area. Funny enough, my wife asked where the utensils were, because every table had them. Same attendant rudely, pointed to another table for her to get them. I should have just sat down and ate my food as I didn't see any signs for "no outside food." Either way, stay somewhere else. It's unfortunate that a hotel like this allows such rudeness from a staff member. I did report this to the manager, and online but was met with more passivity. Comped two nights of valet. Honestly, it wasn't enough. I would never stay here again and it ended the trip on such a sour note.
