We went to Doucette's (Pizza Twice) for some fast food-esq take out to bring back to our cottage. We got the 'cheesey donair fingers' and a 12 inch 'double bacon cheeseburger sub' to share. The donair fingers were basically garlic fingers with pieces of donair meat on them - you can't really do garlic fingers wrong, so these were pretty decent. The sub on the other hand was anything but cheeseburger-y, and I don't recall any bacon at all. It consisted of a mushy hamburger spread with cheese, onions and marinara sauce. Who puts marinara on a cheeseburger? The best part about this entire sub was the baguette-bun, it was fresh, big, soft and delicious - I would just try a different version next time. This store is one of your only options for treats and snacks in Ingonish - it is kind of pricey though. The girl behind the Pizza Twice counter was... emotionless. But, the lady at the cash was super nice so it made up for it!

The setting is scenic and the dining room spacious. Why am I so down on the restaurant, then? It was the food and service. Their chowder was awful. I had a lobster and it was tough and chewy. I also tried the mussels. They were tasteless. The fish tacos I would best describe as meh. Others in our group of five provided the following feedback: Salmon ... so so; Steak .... not great; Turkey Club .... yucky As if that was not enough, the service was atrocious. Meals came very slowly and drinks, it seemed, even slower. One person in our group ordered a second glass of wine. It didn't come during the meal. Then finally after getting tired of waiting post-meal, the diner got up and got the glass of wine from the bartender. When the waitress was asked about the inordinate wait, she responded, "Hey, I'm not the bartender." We did ask to speak to the manager at the end of the meal, and I must say he was as apologetic and accommodating as anyone could be. I wish I could add a star to the restaurant's rating just based on the management's response, but that would not be just to readers relying on Yelp! reviews. To be fair, our visit was in mid-June 2016 and the restaurant could have been just starting to gear up for the upcoming high season in Nova Scotia. Maybe our server was new to the service industry. Besides, you could happen to get a bad server almost anywhere. Perhaps come July the place will show improvement. Of course, the food is another issue. I don't know who was in that kitchen, but their level of culinary expertise left much to be desired. That REALLY needs to be addressed for anyone to ever have an enjoyable meal here.

My daughter had their chicken bacon mac and cheese and really liked it. My wife loved the mussels but thought the pan seared haddock was a bit bland. I've had Napoli over the years but it's on the decline between both quality and service. The pizza tonight was very thin and very chewy and didn't leave me wanting for more. I had to get a spoon to scoop out the garlic sauce for the garlic fingers because it was so think and glue-like. I hate to say it, but after many years, I'll be trying somewhere new next time.
