Full disclosure: I've never actually spoken to Andy or actually used his locksmith services. That said, I was blown away by how incredibly helpful he was to a total stranger and non-customer. Long story short(er), I got locked out of my new condo the night I moved in, and it seemed like the only locksmiths who would answer their phones were somehow out of state. An equally kind gentleman from Ballard Lock & Key called Andy to ask for a favor, and Andy couldn't make it over. Rather than just declining his friend and going on with his Friday night, Andy took it upon himself to call other locksmiths he trusted in the area until he found someone available and passed along my information. If Andy is this forthcoming and helpful with someone he's literally never interacted with, I can imagine what a positive experience actually working with him would be. read more

Andy (who also works for Ballard Lock and Key and Davern) came to my rescue, picked the lock to my apt. in less than 5 minutes and double-checked his work to make sure the archaic lock still worked properly post-picking. He showed up quickly on a busy Sunday after I was almost swindled by a company who advertised online and quoted 30$, then showed up and told me they needed to drill the lock (it wasn't a deadbolt and he didn't even try to pick the lock, let alone appear to have any picking tools) and said it would be 150 bucks, plus the door lock would be destroyed and need to be replaced. When I said no way (!!!!), they still tried to charge me for a "service call". No way again. Thanks to Andy! Don't believe these guys and their "cheap deal" for a second! Instead, pay a fair price to have a local professional come over quickly and save you from your blundered, locked-out, and if you are like me-hungry situation. read more

We were about to leave on a 4 day weekend in the San Juans when my husband's key snapped off in the lock on our front door. Of course, the one time I forgot to bring my house key... We googled locksmiths, found Andy, and we are so glad we did! He was incredibly fast for a Friday evening, managed to get us in without destroying the lock, made us 2 new keys (to replace the broken one and a spare), and was very friendly and helpful. All this, and he was extremely affordable, charging about half of what we were expecting to pay. Andy, you're a life saver. To my dismay, I had stupidly misplaced my car keys after a night on the town. After a week of waiting for my keys with no signs of recovering them, I decided I should call a locksmith. I stumbled upon Andy through Yelp, and while I may not agree with the politics behind it, it got him my business. Andy was quick on the scene and quick to get me a new set of keys (multiple copies, completely unexpected and awesome). He did all of this at an incredibly reasonable price. He didn't try to up-sell or cheat me out of my money, he's an honest, down to Earth person that made this initially bad experience a pleasant one. Doh! Locked myself out of my house. I called another reputable locksmith first but was referred to Andy because they didn't have anyone available. Andy was about to embark on a different job when he got my call, and he was so kind to postpone the job to come unlock my door for me right away. Turns out my door locks are really hard to pick, which is good to know. He still managed to unlock my door tout de suite. We started talking about door locks and how easy/difficult they are to pick and he evaluated the security of other door locks. He charged $80 for an emergency door unlock service and also advised me on some scam locksmiths that are around. He is so incredibly nice and I will definitely call him again when I need locks changed or rekeyed, or god forbid, lock myself out again. read more

Andy (of Advantage) is the MAN! Like a fool I dropped my keys in my trunk and slammed it shut. After a call to Advantage Andy indicated he could meet me within 30 minutes of our conversation and he made it in 20! When the old Slim Jim couldn't get my door open he used an old school approach and got a bendy metal tool into the interior of my car and pushed the lock up manually, and made it look easy. When I revealed that the reason I couldn't get into my trunk was that I was using my spare key on my key chain after breaking my primary key, he made me a new one on the spot, saving me a trip to my dealership. Totally good guy. He was flexible to my schedule and was able to get in and make keys for the ignition and door locks for my older rare car. Andy is a lifesaver! He came to my Queen Anne apartment at 3 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon with a smile on his face even though I had interrupted him in the middle of a personal errand. He quickly let me into the apartment I had locked myself out of and even cleaned my lock so it no longer stuck when I tried to unlock it myself. Bottom line: I was back in my apartment in about 20 minutes and my lock now works better than it ever has and all for far less than I ever expected to pay. We have had problems with our front door lock for years ! So I finally call someone to come fix it .. Enter Andy ! Let me tell this was not an easy Job the locks on our front door were in very poor shape given that they are close to 100 years old (no joke) He had to take everything apart to get to the problem and in the end we had a new key and a new dead bolt keyed alike, four copies of the key for all the family members . My purse stolen one night at the bars which left me with no keys, no phone etc. Andy came out early on Sunday morning (only took him 15 minutes from the time i called for him to get there) got me back into my apartment and it only cost me $85 to come out plus $25 for a new lock and keys. Like all the other reviews here on yelp, Andy is excellent and super friendly!!! I chose Andy to help me change the lock for my restaurant in Seattle. I was suppose to meet him at the restaurant but due to an unexpected personal emergency, I was not able to be there while Andy changed the locks. My employees all said he was super fast, this was important for us because our lunch rush was soon to begin. Not only was his service fast, his charges were more than REASONABLE!!! I know this because two years ago, my restaurant was broken into and the locksmith then, charged me well over $145 with two set of keys. Discovering that you are locked out is a drag, but Andy comes to your rescue with a totally fair price and a speedy response. After a hit and run (ugh), my car was at an autobody shop. I gave the shop permission to lock my keys in the car so I could pick it up afterhours. When I went home to grab my spare key, I realized I had been given the wrong spare key by the previous owner and was locked out of my car. Andy was on-site in less than 30 minutes and took no time getting into my car. He even made me a spare key free of charge. It won't start the car since it doesn't have the computer chip required for my security system, but it will get me in the door in a pinch! My 10-year-old son locked his 80-year-old bedroom door with an old skeleton key he found. Luckily, he was not in his room at the time. After fiddling with it for a half-hour, we were unable to get the door unlocked and eventually the key broke off. I called another locksmith who referred me to Andy. Andy answered his phone right away and came by as soon as his previous job was done. He was able to find a compatible skeleton key and open the lock within a minute or so. Because it didn't take long, he discounted his normal fee (which my son paid from his saved allowance money) and we had a nice chat about old locks and curious little boys. Andy is great! I gave him a call this morning due to the lock on our mailbox being jammed, and he was over in less than 20 minutes to fix it. He replaced the lock on our mailbox with a lock that will better withstand the elements, and was even able to make an extra copy of the key for our landlord. FANTASTIC. I can't write enough great things about Andy and his quick service late on a Sunday night. I called around 9pm after trying to pick my lock myself for an hour, very frustrated and tired and Andy came over very quickly and let me into my place and did not charge me an arm and a leg. Andy was extremely quick and careful and the nicest guy ever. PLEASE use Advantage any time you are locked out!!! I had locked myself out about four months ago and called a different service that said $19 online and figured it couldn't be that much overage from that quote, maybe $50-60. I had the best experience with a locksmith I've ever had after calling Advantage Mobile Locksmiths. There are a lot of scam locksmiths on Yelp and in directories, Advantage Mobile Locksmiths is the real deal. The price Andy quotes will not be the cheapest, but it will be fair, and it will be what you are actually charged. Those scam locksmiths will quote a much lower price, but that will turn out to be just to look at the lock, and the actual work will be much more. When I called Andy, he said he'd be there in half an hour, and arrived 20 minutes. Andy also recommended someone else to help with a different issue, and that gentleman gave as good of service, so you can probably trust other tradespeople he recommends. I don't give out a lot of 5 star reviews, but with all the junk "locksmiths" on Yelp, Andy deserves to be at the top of the list. read more

The handle on our home safe (3.0 cu ft) came off. Been locked out a week trying to work with the manufacturer on getting it opened. No-go. Looking over the other reviews, you are probably tired of seeing the phrase "Andy was great!" But he was, and is. I am a new homeowner and needed to change out my home locks - ALL of them. Andy was efficient, flexible, friendly, and patient. Not only did I get great service, but now I understand why some locks are better than others and why its so important to use your deadbolt!! He even helped me trim out some of the 'strikes' on my interior doors so that they latched properly. If I ever need lock-related work again, I won't hesitate to call him. Andy is fantastic. I hired Andy to complete a rekey of my house based on his competitive pricing and great customer service when I was shopping for quotes. When he arrived at my home, he arrived in a marked van wearing a uniform (this does not happen enough and it really impresses me when people put thought in to the legitimateness of their appearance when visiting people's houses). Andy truly is a great locksmith. I've used him for when I lived in a condo and used him again for my new house. He's professional and it's clear he knows what he's doing. My wife used a different locksmith on the day we moved in to our new house strictly based on yelp reviews. Andy is a gem. I called him Saturday evening after we inadvertently locked ourselves out of our bathroom and another locksmith referred him. He came promptly and was super friendly. I was very stressed out about the locked door but he was calm and totally dedicated to solving the problem. The lock presented a unique challenge because it was original 1941 hardware, but even though Andy had never seen a lock like it he took the time to figure out how it worked and got the door open in half an hour or so. I'm really pleased with the service I received from Andy yesterday. If there's one thing that drives me crazy about the service business in general, it's when people don't do what they say they are going to do. If service is your business, you should make and meet commitments, right? Andy answered the phone when I called (on a Sunday morning) and provided me with a basic quote for the services I needed. We agreed to a window later in the day when he would come by, and he told me he would call when he was on his way. Within the 2-hour window specified, he called to let me know he'd be arriving soon. He was friendly, helpful, and detail-oriented. The job was completed promptly and according to the prices he'd quoted me earlier in the day. It's clear to me after talking with Andy that another locksmith had ripped me off in the past. Wow. Andy is great. Came over on a Saturday with a day's warning, diagnosed my lock issue quickly, had parts on hand to fix. Which he did. Also suggested some relief of some sticky components of the lock seat, which he thought might be contributing to the wear and tear. Took care of that quickly, and the lock works GREAT.
