If you haven't tried an Andy's yet, make your way over for old-fashioned done really well. I've done the drive through at the Naperville one and walk-in at this Countryside location. Loved it both times. Andy's takes nostalgia soda-shop desserts and makes them perfectly appealing to today's consumer. Root beer floats and banana splits on the same menu with concrete mixers filled with candies. With an open kitchen format, my kids loved watching the custard coming out of the large machines. The employees here were great. And my shake with marshmallow cream syrup was old-school sweet! I like the Italian ice option as I have a lactose intolerant kid and sometimes we don't always have a Lactaid on us. For a quick treat, go at an off-peak time because after dinner it gets STUFFED. I walked in and placed my order and then waited for over 20 minutes. there was only one party other than me (a mom with her kids) who were there before me and were sitting and already had their order. I waited while seeing multiple drive through orders being taken and filled. Then one of the girls came to ask me what i was waiting for and it turned out they had forgotten about me. They then wanted to start working on my order 20 minutes later so I just asked for a refund and walked away. Again I was the only person there the whole time. The guy took my order and then went to clean some machines and then clean the floor. He showed no remorse and did not even apologize. Super unprofessional and disrespectful. I got the BootDaddy Concrete which has Andy's vanilla frozen custard blended with Oreo, crème caramel and hot fudge. It was excellent! I know there are a lot of frozen custard dessert places out there but this one is definitely one of them on top of the list! Last night was a heck of rush through the drive-thru at Andy's, meaning that the line was in the street and when I got my order to leave, more cars were entering the Andy's lot. They're smart by having a worker out there taking orders with an iPad that way when you do get to the window you just need to pay. Otherwise the line would take forever because they couldn't prepare your ice cream beforehand and then there would be more waiting. Friendly staff, lots of great ice cream choices too. I ordered a brownie concrete and enjoyed it. The only issue I had is that they actually use a brownie square than brownie chunks. It didn't blend into the custard well at all, so my dessert was all vanilla then all brownie. Pre-cutting into chunks for a dessert like this would take 5 seconds and have made a world of difference.My guy got a chocolate malt and enjoyed it. And I thought the vanilla custard tasted fresh and had a clean vanilla flavor to it that was nice. We both ordered small ice creams and for the two of us it was $10. I lived in Wisconsin for 4 years so I am probably a more critical on my custard. First off, I have never seen such expensive custard in my life, especially since they only really carry one distinct flavor of custard. When I first walked in and saw the exuberant prices, I thought either this was not custard or there was something extremely special about it. Nope nope. I ordered some sort of sundae. I never had a custard sundae before and I will probably never have one again from Andy's. I didn't hate it, but I felt it was overpriced and had a terrible ratio of custard to brownie/cake. It started off tasting really good with a sweet cold mix of chocolate and custard. It became more and more difficult to eat as you realize that there was hardly any custard to begin with and the sundae turned into a soggy brownie/cake. Andy's is probably just as good as Culver's custard. Yeah, Andy's has a pretty sweet atmosphere, and I would probably bring a date to Andy's instead of Culver's, but it just hurts paying such a premium for some average custard. read more

I really liked the custard here. I had the Bootdigger which was a concrete with oreos, caramel creme and hot fudge. I think the custard is better here than at Culver's, but I like having the other food options at Culver's. However, overall I still prefer DQ blizzards over a concrete :) The restaurant itself has a drive-thru and plenty of parking. I was a little put-off that the cashier took all of our orders without entering them into the computer, then tried to recite them back to us, got a few things wrong, and then entered them into the computer... we still ended up getting large concretes instead of mediums, which is a small thing, but was more calories and cash than we intended on spending. I'll probably be back if I am in the area as an impulse, but I don't think Andy's will ever be an intended destination. read more

I want to preface this by saying I am a timid seventeen year old who literally works in an ice cream shop myself and I fully understand and sympathize with what these workers go through on the daily, especially late shifts on school nights. That being said, it takes quite a lot to fill someone like me with Karenesque rage. The store was busy, as my organization was holding a fundraiser and we definitely showed out. I waited in a long line and finally got up to the front and was ready to place my order when the young woman working the register turned away and began to hand out orders to people. This struck me as unprofessional considering there was another worker nearby who seemed not to be busy at all. After about 10 minutes, she came back, I placed my order and stood at the other side of the counter to wait. And wait. And wait. 25 minutes pass and the store is beginning to clear out. My friend who ordered just before me receives her order and I felt sure I would get mine shortly. I did not. I waited 10 more minutes before going up to a worker, and I reminded her the items I'd ordered. She was polite but didn't seem very bothered. 10 more minutes, no custard. I went up to the employee again, I had to remind her again the items I had just told her. The store is pretty much empty now and the workers are standing near the back chatting, with no sense of urgency. I am getting pissed off at this point but kept my composure as I'm sure they are tired and stressed, just like I would be if my workplace got a big rush on a school night. However, another ten minutes and nothing. I get a little snippy, reminding them of my items a third time, and the employees get to work on my order. I finally receive it approximately an hour after I ordered it, in an empty store. Extremely frustrating. Things happen, obviously, and whether they lost my ticket or handed my items out to someone else I don't blame them. What I take issue with is the disorganization, the lack of urgency that I witnessed. I was not the only customer in there who had to wait this long for my order, and especially since I had already communicated to the employees multiple times what I was waiting on and for how long, I do wish this was handled better. 2 stars because I am literally in these peoples' shoes three times a week and it is tiring, hard, thankless work. Also, the custard, when I eventually got it, was fantastic. Probably will not be returning to Andy's and neither will my organization. read more
