This is the best little hole in the wall diner I have found in a while. I travel frequently for work, so I eat out a lot. Whenever I'm in Countryside, I do what I can to stop here. Food is amazing, servers are awesome, everything is top notch. The Louie is my favorite, but everything I've ever had is good.

Attached to a bowling alley, Country Cup is like some sort of throw back. Old school small diner feel, with a cook who's likely some descendant of the original owner. You could taste it in the food. One of those kind of cooks that is capable of holding down the grill and other devices in the kitchen, and engage with the customers, or whatever regular he hasn't caught up with in a few days. I've witnessed a decline of these kind of places over the years, and that's pretty sad. Anyway, back to the food. The flow of the meal was very old school. The wife ordered her go to breakfast plate with all the basics, and all looked made with care, and was enjoyed.. I got Grecian style chicken, which included a potato (browns w/cheese please!) and a dinner salad. Bonus super extra stars had their blue cheese dressing been house made, but these type of places really don't do that kind of thing in house, especially one this small. That's cool. Ken's Steak House dressing made up for it! Chicken was executed like a Greek sage in the kitchen. They nailed the flavors and textures like the best I've ever had. I have to have this again.

Fiddle Faddle Sandwich & Baked Mostaccioli. Both solid.

Small diner with lots of character and a long menu. Fiddle Faddle Sandwich was great.

Walking in the door, we felt at home and welcomed. We were seated by the owner who was a kind looking man who could probably have a sharp tongue. Our waitress who has been here for 32 years made me feel like I was sitting at her breakfast table in her kitchen. She was the sweetest lady I've met in the greater Chicago area. The food was the epitome of comfort food. We enjoyed the skillet bowl. The steak was AMAZING!!!!!!!! The restaurants as located in a bowling alley but don't let that fool you, the food, staff and comfort level was Michelin Four Star! Would definitely travel from Sacramento back here.

I drove to this restaurant after seeing it was open 24 hours on Yelp. Got there 15 minutes late, but they were still finishing orders. So, they were awesome enough to take my order. I had the pork chops dinner, and it was wonderfully juicy. It was exactly what I needed. The owner has been there almost 52 years. The food is great. The service goes above and beyond. I hope everyone tries this place (during their open hours). ;-)

But for a premium price, I expect premium product, and this place is rough around the edges in ways that feel easy to fix. I'm pointing them out in hopes they'll be corrected. First the positive - the food was pretty good. Not great for the price, but pretty good. Drip coffee was better than most diners/cafes in the area. The ambience was pleasant. Here's the issues. 1. The furniture needs a refresh and I don't think the place has even been open that long. The side tables by the window are losing their finish - a fragment of wood got caught under my finger nail as I was sitting down and just lightly grazed the table with my hand. I also brushed away a few additional flakes coming up. The chiffon curtains are charming until you look closer and see they're speckled with food from past diners. A moss ball decoration in the bathroom is missing half its moss. It's little stuff, obviously, but when I spot things like this at a place otherwise charging a premium partially for cute aesthetics, I always get concerned that the lack of attention to detail might also be getting reflected in the food. 2. Value for money and food quality are also an issue. $20 for one slice of sourdough cut in half, a rather overdone French omelette with sour cream on top (not mentioned on the menu and a weird choice) a bowl of fruit I wasn't interested in rather than a choice of free side, and sausages I paid extra for, is not good value to me. The bread was good! The omelette was mediocre. The sausage was very solid, had a slight funk to it that I liked and suggested to me it was made in house - but 7 dollars for two sausage patties is absolutely wild. I would suggest Milkstop rethink the combos on its menu to include more and be priced a touch more transparently. 3. Finally, service. Everyone was VERY KIND, again, want to stress that, but service was slow and rather inattentive for most of the meal. The place was only half full, but water and an initial drink order were slow, and I waited for a while for the check while the staff chatted amongst themselves in the corner of the room. Not trying to be a dick, the life of a service worker is tough, but the place was mostly empty and I noticed they already charge a 3% service gratuity on your orders, so I'd expect a little better. Basically this place has a very charming surface with some wonkiness around the edges. I will definitely come back again but guys, come on - ditch the gross chiffon curtains, for both our sakes.

I had the red pepper and cheddar quiche -- delicious! It was light and fluffy and came out in great timing. The salad was crisp and fresh, and the dressing was light -- just enough. After 10 minutes, I got a text saying it could not make my reservation. That's because Patti's doesn't take reservations for parties of four. Something I only found out about by calling the restaurant. So unless you are a large group, walking in is best. Breakfast will cost you between $15-$20 to start, but that's because the portions are huge. My brother-in-law ordered the double blueberry pancakes, and they were the size of the plate! I had the Outstanding Oatmeal which came with pecans, craisins and low-fat yogurt. It was also supposed to come with brown sugar and multigrain toast, but they forgot mine. Which was ok, because the oatmeal was extremely tasty and filling enough without them. Most seating is inside, but there are 3 small tables on the outside patio as well. Gluten free pancakes, waffles and french toast are available. Classic coffee and juices are standard, but they also offer mimosas. Patti's is perfect for those with big appetites. You will definitely leave full, or at least with plenty of leftovers for later!
