The entire place seems to be staffed by teenagers (not a bad thing!) who have not been trained to run the place well (a bad thing) and who don't know what's on offer (a very bad thing). We asked if we could substitute the cheddar cheese that comes on the burger for American cheese. She didn't know and went to ask her manager, then returned to inform us that they don't have American cheese. What kind of Americana-themed diner doesn't have American cheese?! The food was also just fine. The burger patties look like they came straight out of the freezer in a school cafeteria, but they tasted surprisingly good! Well-seasoned and not rubbery. The buns were fine. The fries were good, beer-battered and flaky but quite undercooked. The soda tasted like nothing - barely even carbonated water. To add to the (non-literal) sour taste left by the food, the ice cream was just so-so. The custard was bland and the ice cream is quite expensive, especially for not being made in-house. Boo! The ambience is cute but it seems like someone just googled "50s Americana" and added the first 15 Amazon listings to their cart to decorate the place. As another reviewer said, I am EXTREMELY disappointed to see what seems like a local institution advertising with hideous AI-generated posters. Is it really that hard to take a picture of a burger or an ice cream cone? I wouldn't recommend this place. Take a trip north to Danny's Burger Shack for a good meal instead!
