I've worked with Andy's several times -- Kevin, who may be the only guy? -- and he's great. He clearly loves solving problems and I really get the impression he's honest. The first time our furnace was leaking water. He fixed it for not much money (I don't remember how much), warned us if it happened again we'd probably have to replace it, and that was like a year or more ago. All has been fine. The second time was the first really hot day of the year. Our AC stopped working. He came out right away, did a great, fast, and very competent job, and fixed our problem for $200. Our AC died just as the weather was starting to warm up. Great. Our usual folks sent out a tech and he gave a $600-$800 estimate to fix it. Upon calling back, the office said that the fix was over $900 and that's not even an option - we should replace the whole system for around $3000. Gah! I wasn't happy with how they handled it and when I told them I was going to shop around, they seemed happy to let me go. I yelped around and found Andy's with great reviews. Kevin was prompt in replying to my message for an estimate. He came out on Saturday to look at things and called back with an estimate later in the evening. $2555 out the door. Kevin fit us into his busy schedule and got us back into cool air. He is honest, friendly, and does good work - just what you want for a job like this. I've used Kevin at Andy's Heating and Cooling multiple times and have always meant to leave a review... he replaced our air conditioner and came out for a couple other things in the past. He is friendly, efficient, and his prices are very reasonable! Today, Sunday afternoon (the day after Christmas!), we got home from our travels to a freezing house!!! I called Kevin hoping to have him come out within 24 hours, thinking I would probably have to go purchase some space heaters to hold us over. His prices are fair and reasonable. When I first called him, I was looking for particular furnace filters (which aren't sold in stores) Kevin ordered them for me, charged me exactly what he had paid and dropped them off at my home. Kevin - the owner and main (or only) technician - was very helpful. We recently bought a place and couldn't figure out how the A/C worked (the thermostat had no switch on it and the A/C didn't come on when it was turned way down). He came over and figured out how it was set up (it was wacko) and told us how to get the system functioning properly. We were having wiring work done the following day and Kevin offered to come back the following day at no charge, after the wiring work was done, to attach the new wires to the furnace & A/C unit and test the thing out. We tried a few different HVAC contractors who said they could install NESTs in our zoned house and ended up tearing our house apart trying to do it. He quickly diagnosed our cooling issue and got our AC running again before he left. The HVAC at my business started blowing cold air and I needed it fixed promptly. I looked up some reviews and found that Andy's Heating & Cooling had an overwhelmingly positive response. I don't want to give anyone unrealistic expectations, but here's what happened: I called up and told Kevin (the owner/operator) the problem. He told me up front how much a service call would cost, and it sounded very reasonable. I agreed and he said that he was actually running ahead of schedule and could show up in 15 minutes! Five minutes later he arrived, got a ladder out, and was up on the roof working on the situation within 2-3 minutes. He got it fixed after doing a number of diagnostic checks and inspecting the entire unit. He gave a run-down of the current state of repair of the unit and offered some reassurance that it actually did not need to be replaced. In brief, "very professional" and "above & beyond" are the two best phrases to describe Kevin's service, although personable and courteous also apply! read more
