After a lot of negative experiences with medical offices, Spooner was a huge breath of fresh air! Literally every person on the team from the front desk to the therapists themselves are friendly and helpful. I worked with PT Julia and tech Chris, and they were both phenomenal - true experts in what they do. I also met with PT Alix a few times, and she's equally amazing. I went in afraid I was going to spend a lot of time and money only to be told I needed surgery. Instead I walked out three months later with a shoulder that is almost entirely healed, and an easy-to-follow program to do at home. I still can't get over what a pleasant experience this was from start to finish. They have truly set the bar for all other providers I see in the future. A few things that set Spooner apart from other medical offices I've been to: 1. They offer a free consultation. If you're not sure physical therapy can help you, go in for a consultation! You'll get an honest answer. 2. They did not pressure me to schedule excessive or unnecessary appointments. I went in thinking I'd need to go 2-3 times a week and was pleasantly surprised that they recommended once a week, and then eventually every two weeks. 3. The billing is transparent and honest. My insurance wouldn't give them a price ahead of time, so Spooner had me pay an estimate based on what other clients with my insurance paid. When my claims were processed and their estimate was slightly higher than my contracted rate, they immediately applied all of the credit from my overpayments. I didn't even have to ask for it - I just walked into my appointment, greeted by the pleasant news that I didn't need to pay that day because I had credit on my account! 4. There were never any surprise charges or codes added on to my appointment. When Julia suggested we try dry needling (highly recommend btw), she made it clear there was no additional fee, and that was accurate information. 5. I feel very set up for success doing exercises at home. They have a really helpful app with my personalized program in it that includes videos of how to do the exercises, and they also gave me printed versions as well. (If you want physical therapy to be successful, you MUST do the exercises at home!) I could go on and on about how great Julia and the Spooner team are. I really can't recommend this practice highly enough.

Scheduling is insane. It took me over 12 weeks to get in even though I told them I only had access…read moreto my insurance for 15 weeks and I'd initially been referred for six sessions. The scheduling person promised me they always had tons of openings if I got on their wait list, but the openings never came. (Then they told me it was because they kept those for established patients, but those also never opened up for me, so I think it's just extremely hard to schedule--and they can't or won't accomodate people who may need to get in sooner.) The physical therapist is pretty good and gives a lot of feedback. Some of the techs are good, others seem to be on a bit of a power trip or not paying attention and kind of just going through the motions. I think I had a different tech every time I went in. Working with the techs is often about the same as doing the exercises at home (with added bike/treadmill time); they don't really give good pointers or anything. Spooner is very slow about updating exercises in the app. You basically have to remind them. I'm glad the AC works again; it gets pretty hot in there. Also didn't realize there were more convenient locations when I booked, but that was my fault.

I had injured my left foot while exercising on my treadmill at home, and Spooner got me in right away once I realized that I would need a physical therapist. I was assigned to Emily, who is as fantastic, professional, and helpful as every other Spooner therapist has been with me. She knew what she was doing, and I progressed so well that I was discharged earlier than expected. My wife has also had fantastic therapists at this location, so I highly recommend coming here if you have need of their services. A tip: The dedicated entrance to the Spooner facility is on the south side of the office building, so you'll want to park in the parking lot between the building and the freeway. Spooner has a few marked spaces in front of the sidewalk that leads to their entrance. It may not look at first like an entrance you can use, but it is. While I believe you can also access their suite through the hallway leading from the main entrance for the building, that's usually a long unnecessary walk--and depending on your injury, you might appreciate less walking. :)

No two family group therapy sessions are the same because she plans different activities that engage everyone in a positive and educational way. Having other family members participate in the group session makes us all feel like our issues are not unique and we have found comfort hearing others share their challenges and their story. This is NOT the place to go if you are struggling with your mental health. I was self-admitted due…read moreto a need for mental health support for anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation. It didn't take long to realize that this is very much an addiction rehab and almost none of their sessions directly related to mental health education, DBT, or support. They also heavily push meds here. I was on 6 different anxiety/antidepressant/antipsychotic meds, most of which (or perhaps the combination) made me physically sick, nauseous, and I would go days without eating. For the solution to this from nursing, I was given protein shakes and then was given MORE meds to deal with the side effects of these. When I asked to be taken off one, I was told I was "refusing meds" which at NO point did I refuse something that was needed for me to take. This went on for weeks. After three weeks of treatment, I was abruptly "administratively discharged" by my therapist, just one week before my expected end date. I was told that their facility was "not equipped" to handle my needs, despite having been completely transparent from the time of my intake about my mental health issues. They even claimed my depression was getting worse while there, which unfortunately was accurate. While I understand that there are varying standards for treatment progress, I am deeply concerned that my discharge was handled inappropriately. Specifically: * I was discharged without any follow-up care or referral to ongoing mental health services, despite having suicidal thoughts and self-harm behaviors that my therapist and the treatment team were fully aware of. Again, all of this was mentioned in my intake before I even started. * Upon immediate discharge (literally, immediate. I was not allowed back inside, even to say goodbye to friends) I was given a month's worth of medication, including sleeping pills, without a clear aftercare plan, despite the potential risks for misuse or overdose. This risk was known to my therapist and the medical team, as we had to report suicidal ideation daily on our medical notes. * I was not provided with any support or guidance to manage my transition out of inpatient care safely. The team was aware that I live alone, yet I was sent home with a bag full of a month's worth of medication and no follow-up or additional support from anyone at Pinnacle Peak Recovery. This discharge left me feeling abandoned and unsupported, which is especially troubling given the severity of my mental health needs at the time. Additionally, I felt I was completely rejected by my therapist, with whom I had built a trusting relationship. She essentially gave up on me. Looking back, I believe this situation endangered my well-being and was not consistent with the standards of care expected from a licensed mental health facility that claims to treat mental health disorders. They need to take "mental health" off their website. This place is strictly a 12-step program for those with substance abuse disorders and should NOT be claiming otherwise. I do want to add that the BHPPs and the other instructors/staff were very kind, wonderful people. I genuinely enjoyed getting to know most of them and have made connections with people from this program that I will have friendships with long term . The way my discharge was handled, and the lack of actual support for those with mental health issues during my time there had nothing to do with them. Overall, please DON'T come here for mental health! My situation could have been deadly if I wasn't lucky enough to have a support system back home. Find a different place. This isn't it.

In early June of 2026 I began to feel similar symptoms so of course I would never consider going anywhere else. On the 9th I marched into the Abrazo Cave Creek lobby and proudly announced my self-diagnosis of pneumonia. Within seconds I was whisked into a private room and ministered to by a very skilled and busy staff of medical professionals. My initial thought was that they dislike smarty-pants patients who present with self-diagnoses, especially accurate ones, but after a series of tests, my conclusion was confirmed without any hint of resentment. Within a short time I was escorted to the exit and lustily cheered as I took the initial steps on the road to complete recovery. Once again, I feel as though the quality of care I received at this facility was as great as it is possible to have. My heartfelt thanks go out to the wonderful staff for speeding my return to excellent health! As a token of my eternal appreciation, I will dedicate the remainder of my life to hastening the repeal of HIPPA!
