DeFeo built a driveway drainage system for us this year, which includes a catch basin and dry well. This cleared up a longstanding driveway drainage problem: No more huge puddles in front of our garage! Finally, DeFeo built a dry well with a pop-up drain for our sump pump drainage. As they knew, we have a tenant who has a day off today and needed to go out and my husband needed to leave for work 12:30. She reached out to the tech 3x. At 12:15 I heard from him insisting he is on time. He arrived by 12:25. He was far from on time. My husband took him quickly into the tenant's empty attic to show a concern. In the interim he left me 3 color charts, which were quite similar. He went up on one side of the duplex w a ladder. We offered water, soda..... . It is a cooler day. When he came down I showed him quickly two gray colors. All he said was when you get your estimate there will be a figure from Cambridge and a figure for the color you choose of IKO. I asked him to explain this and said we are on a tight budget with me being downsized 6 years ago and pushed into early retirement. He focused on one book with an adhesive under the shingle. I asked, is that how the shingle is held down? HE YELLED AT ME saying I said shingles are nailed down. Being polite and having worked 40 years with professional NYC attorneys I bit it. I asked him bear with me because I I am nervous with a Sloan Kettering Consult next week. He yelled at me I AM NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR PERSONAL PROBLEMS. He had some looks to give my son, who was leaving from lunch from our home that wasn't even addressing him. He entered short on patience walking across our lawn both ways. He never went to the back of the house nor did he measure anything. He was unprofessional, rude, obnoxious, waste of our time and I told him he was rude to me and he defied me arguing. I put his books on the table near him. He left them. Penyak, if you want your books come get them. I left 3 messages with the secretary that if the owner or manager wasn't going to call us today, that I was going to post the story. He should be fired.

Roof completed by E&W Precision Roofing yesterday...Back story: Subsequent to a storm event I…read morenoticed some shingles in my yard and some lifted shingles on my roof. Roof was in the neighborhood of 20 yrs old...I contacted our home owners insurance company to report it...The insurance company's field inspector took a look, and it was deemed that the roof qualified for a replacement through my insurance. I was walking the dog one night and discussing my roof situation with my neighbor and he mentioned to me that he had the number of a project manager named Benjamin and they had worked together on a few roofing replacement projects, as my neighbor has a few investment properties...I reached out to Benjamin and he come to my home, walked the roof, and assured me he would be able to work with my insurance company to handle the process. Benjamin reviewed the different roofing material options with us and once we selected a shingle color, he used the Hover app to provide a rendition of what the home would look like with the new roof. Materials for the roof were delivered the night ahead of the installation date. The day of installation the crew arrived around 8 am and started staging their tools and equipment. By around 10 am the old shingles were removed, the plywood inspection was complete, and the ice and water shield was being installed. The crew worked safely and efficiently. I had concerns over our shrubs and flower bed but they took the necessary precautions and tarps to ensure that none of the landscaping was impacted by the project. A crew member was assigned to clean up around the house the whole day to make sure that there were no wrappers, shingles, scraps, or nails left laying around (used magnet wand). The Owner of E&W (Wally) came by 3-4x during the day just to ask how things were going and if I was satisfied with the progress of the work. Benjamin, the project manager was there throughout. E&W was even accommodating when I made the request the day of the project to change the drip edge color from white to cream...Benjamin went to a local roofing supply house and got the color I wanted and came back quickly so as not to cause a hiccup in workflow for the crew. I can't say enough with how impressed I was with the installation crew, the foreman "Flacco", and project manager (Ben). Very happy with the final product (Owens Corning Black Sable) and how it makes the house stand out from the adjacent homes on the block. The roofing installation market is competitive. There are a bunch of contractors in the area, but I def recommend reaching out to E&W (Ask for Benjamin) if you are contemplating a roof replacement project or need a roofing repair. I found E&W to be competent as far as the installation, upfront when describing what to expect, and very tidy, leaving your home as it was prior to the work being completed.
