Came in on a Sunday for a quick polish change/manicure. Gal that did my nails was friendly and efficient. I was happy it was so quick. Pricing was about the same as other similar salons however, this place is very outdated and a mismatch of rundown beat up furniture for both techs and customers. I had that awkward feeling when I walked in that I really should've walked out, but I gave it a try. read more

LOVE Kim!! She was recommended to me from a friend and now I'm hooked! Worked with Kim to do my nail trials for my wedding and now I come back for just some self care. I'll be honest, I didn't realize that I had been going to Angel Nails for over two years now. These are some of them nails that they have done and I'll say I like intricate nails quite a bit. The girls there are super nice, they're always welcoming and even though I'm only go a few times a year they always remember my name. They also always have nail charms, diamonds and other accessories available. Even though in the past few years I've given them some intricate designs they have never said they can't do it, plus they always do a great job! Now I know sometime nails can fall off or something but I have never had a set of acrylic nails break or fall off. Before going on a 2 week Europe trip I had my nails done by them and they lasted the entire trip and longer, without any chips or breaking, mind you I was carrying a lot of luggage around. Now let's talk pedicures. They have a few different options for what you want, I personally struggle with callouses due to being on my feet and walking a lot, so I typically go for the higher end option. It is honestly worth every penny! They go above and beyond to somehow restore your feet to newborn feet. Not only does it look great but also feels great! They also make sure to give you the most amazing massage not just on your feet but also your calf's. Again worth every penny! Finally, I have gone during holiday season and they are so sweet, they have given me and my sister full size hand lotion. On top of that if you mention it's your birthday they will give you a $10 voucher/ coupon for your next visit and it does not expire. Like I said all the girls there are really nice and welcoming, you never feel judged even if you want crazy designs. Shout out to Nova and Mae they are really nice and talented. +They also do Gelx which is pretty cool! read more

Time for an updated review. I've been coming here since the beginning of time. Tim and Kim have always been my go to for nails. Their attention to detail and design work is unmatched. Peter is also great if Kim and Tim are unavailable as they get booked up pretty fast. It's always best to call and make an appointment, they are great about answering the phone! My go to pedicure lady used to be Kathy, but unfortunately she is no longer here. Great news, Cindy is absolutely the best of the best when it comes to pedicures. I'm always a little apprehensive about getting my cuticles and ingrown cut - but Cindy makes it so painless. Hands down the best pedicures of my life. She takes her time and is so sweet. Salon is super clean and spacious. They have tile not carpet which is a must for me when it comes to nail shops. They have new equipment and the best spa chairs. They offer complimentary water and mimosas with any service. Their selection of nail polishes and designs are always up to date and growing. The best brands too so my mani pedis always last even if I don't get gel! Tip: If you check in on yelp you can get a free sea salt scrub or 5 min massage with your pedicure. read more

I made an appointment for gel x and a pedi and let the front desk and the woman doing my nails that I wanted gel x. Mai ended up putting acrylic and saying it was better for my nails and so I was just like.. ok not what I asked for but sure whatever. I gave her a reference photo and she kept trying to get me to do a different color because the color I requested wasn't the right shade for my skin tone. I told her I didn't care and to please do it anyways. a couple of my nails were very crooked and just like that comedy sketch from 20 years ago "it's your finger"‍. Didn't fix it.. I ended up just giving up on trying to ask for what I wanted because I knew I wasn't going to get it. Here's my reference photo vs what I got. The "French tip" covered half the nail and the nails were WAY too thick and bumpy. They ended up breaking in half FIVE DAYS after I got them done. I visited this spot after looking at the yelp reviews and figured i couldn't go wrong with any of the technicians but boy was I wrong.... My experience was horrible and I literally cried the whole drive home. I paid $82 (service and tip). read more

So nice to walk in without a wait. Moved 2 doors down from the last time I was here; much more spacious. Vivian and Lena took really good care of me. Both were sweet and inviting. I loved all my shades of green. Definitely happy to return. I especially appreciate they let me keep my scrub since they toss it anyway. I've been coming here off and on since 2016, and I've never felt more scammed in my life by a salon. I came right before thanksgiving, stall number 7. The women had not worked with me before. It was visibly slow. I told the tech I only wanted dip and extremely thin. I have been growing my natural nails out for over a year and they were almost ready to be bare again. I told her to shave them down only and change the shape a little. She said ok we start over. Me thinking she's soaking the nail powder off. I feel her cutting my nails but don't see until 4 nails in, SHE CUT ALL OF MY NATURAL NAILS OFF DOWN TO THE NAIL BEDS. CONFUSED I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO REACT. SHE then puts new tips on which I didn't ask for. At this point it's a new set which I didn't want!!! She then says " let me do a design for you I want you to come back." Now I think she feels bad and offers it for free. I go to pay upfront... $70+ .... I was so mad. You not only cut ALL OF MY REAL NAILS, but charged me full set when I didn't want that. Needless to say, her " I want you to come back m" comment didn't go well at all. Never again. read more

Hands down the best full set & spa pedicure I've ever experienced. Mai was my nail tech and she not only educated me as she sculpted my nails, she was incredible gentle. I had no idea what I wanted, but her expertise helped me decide. My pedicure was top notch! I got the #2 & it was the best decision to add in a comfortable massage. 100% felt like royalty. The nail shape, color, & feeling is exactly what I wanted. Pricing reminded me of pre-covid times, they're so reasonable! Appointment was at 12pm & I was out by 1:20, which is unheard of in the nail world especially with such an amazing job done! If I could give 100 stars, I would. 5/5 all the way around! read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I came here to get a classic set of lashes. I heard from a friend that they were the best and lasted a month! I show up and they were very sweet. When she was done they definitely weren't the lashes that I asked for and she even had a reference picture. During the lash appointment I felt uncomfortable and burning but I thought that was normal due to it being so close to my eyes. When I left I had to return within 30 minutes because my eyes were burning so bad. I asked them to take them off and I wanted the $120 back that I paid. During the take off of the lashes. My eyes were swollen shut and so raw from the burning of the chemicals she was putting on my eyes. I had to leave in a rush to the emergency room and I was diagnosed with a first degree chemical burn on my eyelids. Unfortunately for me they can't take the lashes off yet because there's so much glue burnt to my eyelid that it would cause more damage. So I have to wait 3 weeks to go back and see if they can be removed. They gave me medication to put in my eye but this will affect my vision for a couple of weeks. There's more to the story along with the way me and my friend were treated but short story I'll never be returning there nor ever getting eyelash extensions again. read more

Probs my go-to in Convoy area. The gals here really know how to make sure your pedicures are amazing! We opted for pedicures + callous remover. They clean, cut, remove callous (extra), foot massage, hot stone massage and paint your toes. The massage chairs were a nice touch and the gals here make sure you're comfy. The foot massage was delightful! Good to say, my toes got the TLC they deserved. Thanks a bunch! read more

Can't believe I had the nerve to return to this place! Well, it's 2022 and I was here in 2018. With the pandemic in all, I think the quality should've improved by now and since I'm doing a basic manicure on my natural nails I should give this place another chance...besides it's called Angel Nails. I was desperate to find a nail salon by the restaurant I was having dinner at so this was more for convenience. Everyone knows I'm really big on customer service. I noticed off the bat that the nail technician was super friendly which is a big plus for me. This time around, I give this place 4 stars...minus a star for getting cut. I guess the nail tech got carried away with the customer service. Lol read more

Came here to get my nails done for the second time Was treated nicely , but came back to get my nail fixed that I just got done a day ago.. I'm not sure if the man is the owner but he tells me who did my nails obviously i don't know the name and the person isn't there. So he has the AUDACITY!! to tell me I either have to pay to get it fix or wait for the person who did my nails to fix it the next day ? WTF kind of service is that ? I paid $120 plus tip and I have to pay or wait to get my nail fixed that was done super thin and is why the acrylic came right off my nail. This is my go to spot in San Diego!!! Love Kay for my nails and kim for my lashes. They've always done a great job and I've never waited too long. Kay paid a lot of attention to my nail shape and my dip nails never lift!! I can keep them for 3-4 weeks sometimes. I wanted a specific color and Kay mixed a lot of colors till it was to my liking! My lashes are great and look natural, I get so many compliments. Come here!! read more

I started getting my nails done again and though this place is roughly a 15-20 minute drive from me, they get the job done and Tiffany is my go-to when I get my nails done. I literally would show her a photo and she would make it look better than the photo which is usually not the case at nail salons for me. I also like that she listens to me. I had a bad experience elsewhere because my nails would lift after a few days. That was not the case here. My previous set with Tiffany lasted for 3 weeks almost going on 4! I recommend making an appointment with her she's really good and accommodating. She is super adorable she gets super happy when I make an appointment with her. Nail techs really appreciate you even more when you appreciate and respect their time is what I learned from getting my nails done frequently. read more

If i could give 0 stars i would!!! I've gotten my lashes done here before and it was fine . This time 0/10!! My eyes were burning for hours to the point where i couldn't open them!! Lashes were also placed on my skin instead of my lash line..so my lashes were poking my skin and itching terrible...there was way too many lashes put on my eye, to the point where my eyelid is balled up... asked for removal and instead of a proper removal..scissors were used and was causing way more pain...i eventually left and booked someone else for the removal which will be today. My eyes have been itching since the appointment ..also the burning feeling after the appointment was not normal! My eyes would not stop burning and running...i could barely blink. Lashes are also SUPER hard and stale. I can't even brush them or it hurts my eye lids ! Not even sure if they are licensed to do lashes at this point!! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND !!! read more

So I've been coming to Angel Nails for some years now. I've always requested Tim or Kim to do my nails. The work has always been great & either of them can practically take anything you see off social media and replicate it. I get my nails done pretty long and occasionally will include a design and the prices are always fair & they've NEVER switched up on me. I will say make sure to set an appointment if you can but they always accommodate walk-ins to the best of their ability. Im a new set kind of girl every three weeks and I've never had any lifting and when I break a nail both are very accommodating to get me in same day to fix it. They are very clean and sufficient as I also have gotten my lashes and eyebrows waxed here as well. read more

My rating is low due to because the website states it closes at 7:30, but the man I spoke to over the phone said they close whenever they feel like it. Sometimes they close at 5:30, sometimes it's 6-6:30, sometimes it's 7. It's never a consistent schedule. Their prices online vs what told over the phone are completely different. Also, got my eyebrows done, the room was not clean. Not sure if they reuse the same stick they dip the wax in but had a negative skin reaction. I've been using either hard wax, soft wax, & sugar wax for years and never had a reaction at any other place. Can sense that Nova had a negative energy and seemed like she was annoyed to stop her clients nails to do my brows. I was not in a rush at the time so I wouldn't have mind waiting. First time meeting her, I enjoyed getting my nails done by her but after that altercation I would not want to go back. I don't typically get my brows done at a nail salon but it was convenient at the time. Would give a higher rating if they were more professional. However, Anna is great overall- very sweet, patient, & kind. She also does my nails exactly how I want every time. Absolutely love Anna as a nail tech. read more

This review is LONG overdue…read more I had an amazing first time with Miss Kelly mid 2024. Before Miss Kelly's Brazil Appeal Waxing, I had been to several other salons. I had been going to one of these salons for at least 3 years. Her suite is currently located in the plaza across H-Mart and 24 Hour Fitness off of Balboa Ave in a secured building on the second floor. Her suite is cozy for Miss Kelly, her client, and the equipment she needs. I highly recommend Ms. Kelly and her services - both to those who are sensitive to pain, and even the "veterans" who have learned to "tough it out." Before booking, please take the time to read her website. You will notice that her pricing is higher than the regular waxing/sugaring establishments. This is because she takes her time prepping you and doing the wax itself, which is also why your appointment will be longer (this varies, of course). This is why the pain level is much more tolerable, and makes the price worth it. It has been a while since my first appointment with Ms. Kelly, but I have returned several times since. I unfortunately had to pause my appointments with her, but await the day that I can resume my appointments. Ms. Kelly is a gem and I CANNOT recommend her enough!

When Shardonnay received me, she had an extremely negative attitude with me, since from the moment she greeted me, she did not allow me to go to the bathroom (which I needed) and started giving me a lecture about punctuality, without even asking me or asking herself or asking receptionist girl, if I had arrived late or if something had happened at the reception. It was to the point that she was not even able to greet me, but very frustrated about her tight schedule, she basically started scolding me and telling me that the service was not going to be the best because she only had 8 minutes to attend me since she had another client after me and that I "had arrived late"... Now, it is important to clarify that if that had been the case, the place policies give a 8-minute window to the client to arrive and still receive a good service. However, she kept saying that the service wouldn't be the best. At first I stayed quiet, but after she kept literally blaming and scolding me, I told her to do her job, but that I did not agree with her attitude, cause of course she had a very bad attitude cause of her frustration. She kept arguing and arguing until I literally had to tell her "just do your job". Very shamelessly she tried not to attend me because she now felt that I was angry, thing that I did not allow her to do because I did not drive from Chula Vista to Miramar, 30 minutes, for her to cancel my appointment just because she was in a bad mood. I sat down and took my service. She did a Brazilian service in 5 minutes. It hurt a lot, of course, because she was already upset and also in a rush, so she was very rough when pulling the wax. Afterwards she realized her mistake and started apologized, to which I literally responded that she didn't have to, what she did was already done. I only made her aware that I arrived on time, the receptionist took time attending another client, and I paid the price for it. So she can keep the apologies and that for next time she learn the lesson and at least she can greet and say what she have to say in a proper way. Would I go back? ABSOLUTELY NO, and especially not with her. She may have been working there for many years, but her service and customer attention is THE WORST. She could have gained a loyal client, but because of her rudeness she did not.

I had not used it, but I also didn't have the original receipt when it was purchased. After some back and forth, they swiped it again and somehow found that card and were able to charge it. I didn't use the entire balance so I saved the GC. I went back to use the remaining balance and surprise surprise they couldn't find it in their system. Again it said it was not a valid gift card. The woman at the front desk insisted this meant that I used all the funds and there was no balance remaining even after explaining what happened prior and asking her to try again. She kept insisting so I asked her to show me the starting balance and charges on it. She couldn't see any transaction only that the card is not valid. She said either the card never had money put onto it (impossible since I used it prior) or I had used the remaining balance (I know for a fact there was money left, I would have thrown the card away if it was empty). The woman at the front desk was very rude and would not try swiping the card again or doing any troubleshooting. This seems like a recurring issue with their system and I'm just out $40 because it's stuck on a gift card that isn't recognized by their system. Very disappointing. I will not be coming back here and recommend others avoid it too.

This place is a joke. First of all, even if you have an appt they will most likely you have you wait well passed your appt time. Had 2 nails break after 3 days, called Monday to schedule a repair, they told me I couldn't come until Thursday (today), I called to see I if I could move my appt up a half an hour, she let me know she never wrote it down even though she asked for my name and number. Told me I couldn't come today, that everyone was too busy and no one could take 10 minutes to fix 2 nails. Need it done today as scheduled because I'm going out of town tomorrow. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE .. and the restroom is filthy dirty, always. Won't be going back, will have to pay for a brand new full set somewhere else. read more

I went here to get my nails done for my birthday. I showed the lady a picture of exactly what I wanted and it was a picture from there Instagram so that they could do it the same. They were all very nice but she tried to just do the nails one color which i didn't want and then put a little sparkle on the tips which looked horrible. I told her that this is not what I asked for and she kept telling me that it's too expensive. Not to mention each nail is a different length and one nail is literally going sideways!! Whatever your desires she got you covered and if she cannot do it she will find the best alternative. Anna will give you the best pedicure you can imagine. This place is AMAZING. They are super friendly and welcoming. My nail tech did an amazing job on the shape and painting the actual nail. The shape was perfect and exactly what I wanted. My toes also came out super good and the lady doing my feet made sure I was comfortable. This place is a little more pricey than I'm used to paying, I paid $65 for gel acrylics and a gel pedicure, but the quality is worth it. When I returned to San Diego this June, I was honestly a little shy about coming back after so many years. It brought me so much joy that, after talking for a bit, you guys recognized me. I truly missed this nail salon and its atmosphere. There is such a genuinely happy energy when you walk through the door. Today, I live abroad in Taiwan, and I still have not found anyone who matches Calvin's level of expertise. He deserves recognition for TRUE MASTERY of his craft. I never fully appreciated the technical skill behind a nail tech's work until I started paying closer attention to Calvin. Calvin is incredibly quick with an e-file, but nothing about his technique feels rushed. His movements are short, controlled, and precise, with an economy of motion that comes from years of experience. He can work around the cuticle quickly and meticulously without cutting or nicking the skin, and every movement feels deliberate. What impresses me most is that his speed comes from mastery, not from sacrificing care. A full set for me takes around an hour and a half, which is ridiculously efficient considering the precision and quality of his work. Years later, after having my nails done by different technicians in different places, I have an entirely new appreciation for just how skilled Calvin is. Some people are simply good at what they do; Calvin has mastered his craft. I didn't realize how spoiled I was until I moved away. Calvin and Tracy, thank you for still making the salon feel just as warm and welcoming as I remembered it. It was genuinely wonderful to come back.

At first when I called to make an appointment on the phone, language was a barrier as Yuni (the owner) only came to the US from Korea 8 months ago. But then I tried texting and it was much easier! She was able to accommodate my schedule and quickly get me in the next day. I wanted to get rid of my acrylics and go with my natural length and Yuni was extremely detail-oriented and professional with this process. She used a huge variety of tools and steps to restore my nails. She also told me my nails were soft and weak from the acrylic and suggested a "hard gel" to help with that. She has a lot of designs on Instagram @hashtag_nails_sd and around the shop, and is extremely patient to customize the design to what you want! She definitely has the attention to detail and pride in her craft, making every design a piece of art. If you're looking to get a cheap manicure, this place isn't for you. But for the amount of time, dedication, and quality, I thought it was a definitely worth it! The acrylic removal was $15, gel manicure $35, and special nail art $10/hand. I'll be back!
