Updating my review for June 2026: Calvin and Tracy -- after 2019, my visits became less frequent and eventually nonexistent after I moved to National City. When I returned to San Diego this June, I was honestly a little shy about coming back after so many years. It brought me so much joy that, after talking for a bit, you guys recognized me. I truly missed this nail salon and its atmosphere. There is such a genuinely happy energy when you walk through the door. Today, I live abroad in Taiwan, and I still have not found anyone who matches Calvin's level of expertise. He deserves recognition for TRUE MASTERY of his craft. I never fully appreciated the technical skill behind a nail tech's work until I started paying closer attention to Calvin. Calvin is incredibly quick with an e-file, but nothing about his technique feels rushed. His movements are short, controlled, and precise, with an economy of motion that comes from years of experience. He can work around the cuticle quickly and meticulously without cutting or nicking the skin, and every movement feels deliberate. What impresses me most is that his speed comes from mastery, not from sacrificing care. A full set for me takes around an hour and a half, which is ridiculously efficient considering the precision and quality of his work. Years later, after having my nails done by different technicians in different places, I have an entirely new appreciation for just how skilled Calvin is. Some people are simply good at what they do; Calvin has mastered his craft. I didn't realize how spoiled I was until I moved away. Calvin and Tracy, thank you for still making the salon feel just as warm and welcoming as I remembered it. It was genuinely wonderful to come back. read more

I should've known better to return here but it had been a few years. Be prepared to say ouch multiple times during a mani pedi; I didn't expect to end up with a bandaid and a finger that won't stop bleeding. Do yourself a favor and go to a different nail salon. read more

Called ahead and the owner said a chrome pedi would cost $50 I get there and show her inspo pick which was cats eye powder and chrome tips, she tells me the price was now $80 and said base pay was $60 (could of sworn I heard $50) and each "effect" was an extra $10. I was okay with the price since I was already there but felt like I either heard incorrect or she was being misleading. Sky did most of the hard work of cuticle care, trimming and shaping as well as a really good but subtle massage. She was very professional and took a lot of care in her work. She shared she doesn't do the cats eye powder so I ended up waiting about 20 minutes for a different nail tech to become available after she was servicing someone who came after me. I didn't make a big deal about it but thought that was odd. Jade did the nail art. I asked if she wanted to see the reference picture but she said no - the owner told her what to do. She ended up doing the wrong color of chrome but corrected it after I let her know. Her nail art was clean and precise. I would choose her again. Overall, they did a great job on the pedi and though there was some miscommunication, I thought they handled it professionally. Only downside is it took like almost two hours to get this pedi and most of it was just waiting. Jade really liked her work and we all thought it was a great combo (catseye with chrome tips). I've been here @ 3x, before today. Since my schedule is usually very tight, I ALWAYS use their website & make an appointment. Thought this was going to be my go to spot-since, the nail tech Sky, is very detailed. I made an appointment on their website for today at 10 AM, for a simple manicure. When I arrived Sky was doing a pedicure & asked if I could come back in an hour. Ummmm no-that's specifically why I made an appointment!!! . She told me the system made a mistake, WHAT????? -and I can wait & talk to the manager. Another nail tech, asked me to take a seat & wait, meanwhile, of course Sky is still working on her clients pedicure. I said no thanks, left & went to Mirano Nail Lounge, up the street, where I was a walk-in-received excellent customer service, a glass of wine and went ahead & got a mani & pedicure & was out the door by 12 noon! I've come here before and it was fine. This time was worse. I got a European mani pedi here and my manicurist was nice but rushed and distracted. At some points while she was scraping my nail with metal tool, she pushed too hard while watching the World Cup on tv that I yelped. She apologized. Then later, she apologized again. I looked down seeing that she nicked the side of my thumb causing a small wound. It wasn't until after I left that I realized she actually tore the side of the thumbnail as well. I am providing this review based on my experience with one specific nail tech. I believe her name was Tracy because she used a light blue nail drill labeled Tracy. I went to this nail spot because my cousins regularly frequent this location for their pedicures and like it. We were able to get same day appointment for two manicure and a kid's mani/pedi, which was great. My experience got bad as soon as we were seated. Tracy started talking in Vietnamese and telling the nail tech who was working on my cousin, that she (the other nail tech) pulled the better client. She said she knew I would be picky and that the other nail tech was so fortunate and lucky. She proceeded to say, I don't know what I want and it would be just her luck to be stuck with me. At this point, the only thing I asked her was for the cost of GelX and Builder Gel because she kept trying to upsell me on these services. I agreed to do GelX for $10 more before she started talking about me. Once I heard everything that she was saying, I let her know in Vietnamese that I understood everything that she was saying and I was fluent in Vietnamese. She was in complete and utter shock and apologized and said I thought I was another ethnicity. I asked her if it was Ok to say those things because she thought I was okay to speak poorly because she thought I didn't understand? She again apologized. She then kept trying to make small talk in Vietnamese. This made my whole experience terrible. Not only was this already awful, my nail did not turn out well, she made my pinky nail crooked 3 times and had to redo it 3 times. She really had no business upselling GelX for the quality of work she provided. There's a bunch of glue under my nails. The French tip was bubbly, they weren't straight and were squiggly at the edges, and there were missing gaps. I told her and she barely fixed it. I paid for my services and tipped because I understand that it's her livelihood, but I am sharing my experience to hope that no one would experience this in the future. It's not right to treat customers like this because the techs assume that the customers don't speak the same language. It also gives other techs who are monolingual speakers a bad reputation. I will add that I didn't give this place 1 star because it's not fair for the other techs that did do a good job. The nail tech who did my kiddo's nail was extremely patient and did an amazing job, was meticulous, and treated my daughter like a human and with kindness. My cousin's nail also turned out fine, as well. Maybe it was just my luck, that I got stuck with someone who thought it was okay to speak poorly of others and didn't do the best job. I have a feeling these nails will lift quickly from the quality. I will report back with lifting. read more

This time I only waited 10-15 minutes to be seen to for a fill & 1 nail repair. There are plenty of gel nail colors to choose from. I decided to go with this sheer color over a natural acrylic (color 288, unsure of the brand). I'm really satisfied with the job done. When I walked in, they asked me to sign in and I said I had an appointment and they didn't even honor it. Some random guy did my nails instead and I was very disappointed with his work. When filing my nails he was on the rougher side and wasn't very consistent with the shaping of my nails and the painting. I originally wanted french nails and designs but I simplified it to accommodate his skill level. Which he still couldn't execute. I asked him to fix one of my fingers multiple times cause it was bothering me so much. It was so uneven. By the third time of him fixing it, I just let it go cause he wasn't fixing it at all. Dont waste your time, save your money!! I went in on Thursday to get a builder gel set with French tip added. Friday one nail broke, Saturday another nail broke...mind you the builder gel is over my real nails not fake nails. I went back Monday morning as soon as they opened she couldn't get me in so I came back. The repaired nails were messy (builder gel wasn't filed down and were lumpy...) but I didn't complain it's Tuesday and another nail broke again! My friend and I just randomly search for a nail salon to book an appointment since some of my previous salon which I visited was full. Everyone in the shop are really nice and friendly. The moment when we first entered the store, we feel very welcome and friendly vibe from the staffs. The shop is clean and spacious. My friend and I always got headaches when we started to pick color because there're so many. I am SO Glad I finally found a great nail salon to come to. Staff wear masks. You will be asked to wash your hands with soap and water before being seating to get your nails done. This is the first salon I have been to that adheres to infection control so well. What a PLUS! They also have a window barrier at the nail station separated you and the manicurist. The entire salon was pleasantly clean. Calvin was the BEST! His attention to detail was impecable and he was a great conversationalist! My nails came out great! They also offer other services such as eyelash extensions. I can't wait to return to get a pedicure. Definitely recommend! My sister and I tried this spot because of its close location to my home and now, I wouldn't look anywhere else! First, the ambiance is so comfortable, absolutely loved the cloud ceiling and soft piano music, it was very relaxing. The pedicure chair and spa was super comfortable and the massager was legit. Even more importantly, this nail salon is impeccably clean. I received a spa gel pedicure and foot scrub with Kevin, who was excellent, and gave a great calf and foot massage! Tracy was awesome.
