She is gentle, detailed and a true artist! I was lucky enough to sit next to her other client who had a beach themed set of nails that was so creative and fun! Desiree made me feel comfortable and right at home with her kindness and hospitality. She even made me a special tea with orange peels and honey. I love my pedi and my mani is totally unique and beautiful. She spent time doing nail art in cat eye paint and then put a chrome over it. The effect is very subtle and unusual in a good way. I'll definitely be back and will tell friends about this salon right next door to Sherman Oaks (fraction of the price) and Latina owned too! :)) This is exactly the type of small business I want to support. My OG nail tech Ella left and each time I had my nails done by someone new it seemed as if they'd never done nails before. Regardless, my final visit was because a nail tech filed off my pedicure gel so aggressively that I was almost in tears. NAILS SHOULDN'T HURT. Well, I guess it's on me that I went back. My son wanted a mani pedi and it's nearby so we went. I assumed when I sat down that there were multiple techs working, but no...it was one woman. Our nails (two mani/pedis) took 2.5 hours. She was very sweet but also seemed new. She applied a fake nail to one of my fingers and ended up ripping the builder gel off my finger. She then applied a gel x which worked fine. During my pedicure I pointed out that I had a blister on the pad of my big toe so no callus treatment, but she wouldn't listen. She did the callus on my heel then started on the area with the blister and WOULD NOT STOP. I had to pull my foot away and say "ENOUGH! No more!" Again, this is all as my child is there and dying to get nails so I'm just trying to get through it. The cuticles on my toes are red and sore today. I'm really disappointed. While we were there a woman came in with her gel x nails broken that she got done on Saturday, two days before. Finally, the manager or owner --idk...male-- was vaping inside the salon. Insane. To add insult to (literal) injury...the whole thing cost me $200. Girl. And that was with discounts like not charging me for the nail she ripped off my finger I guess. Then when I went to add a tip -- always tip 20%! -- I told the guy behind the counter to give her $40. That's what 20% of $200 is and outside of my foot, she worked very hard and my son LOVED her. The manager dude looked at me and had the nerve to whisper "No! That's too much!" Like...if I knew my manager tried to talk someone out of tipping me after 2.5 hours of work are you EVEN kidding me. I'm sure she works on commissions so tips help to make up for a slow day. Like I said, I have my license and I've worked in salons and had my own business for a while. So, yeah...last time ever. 2 stars because my nails do look good but I shouldn't have been in pain and it shouldn't have taken 2.5 hours.

To avoid further tension, I picked a different color under pressure. I contacted them afterward, and the response was incredibly unprofessional. Management argued with me via text, citing "camera footage" to claim I wasn't actually uncomfortable. It's a shame that being polite and "smiling" while leaving is being used against me to deny that the service was tense. They offered a small discount for a redo ($15 instead of $25), but at this point, I'd rather go to a salon where the staff is actually friendly and I don't have to argue with management just to be heard. Edit: The owner ignored my private text regarding a technician speaking poorly about me, yet chose to respond publicly instead. This lack of professionalism is exactly why I requested a female technician. Furthermore, at no point was I offered a redo or even a basic apology for the hostile environment. Beware: if the staff is comfortable speaking negatively about clients in the salon, your experience won't be any different. Check the attitude before this business fails. RIP and good luck

She gave me a time for 7:40. & she said Amy will be free. 7:10 came around, I called to see if Amy IS actually going to be available because I don't want to go & wait again for 40 minutes like the last time. But this time the owners sister answered the phone and she said wait let me confirm with Amy. She confirmed with Amy & she got back on the line with me saying 'no Amy can't take you at 7:40 because she's been busy all day today but you can come at 9pm'. I'm sorry, what? 9pm? Your boss sets up appointments for her employees at certain times yet last minute you want to change the time from 7:40 to 9pm? Never will I be stepping a foot in this salon again after the amount of disrespect I've received from the owner herself.
