I hadn't been to this salon in a few years (I think), and to my surprise, the entire place has been beautifully remodeled. It has such a relaxing, welcoming, spa-like atmosphere now. I originally came in for a full set, but ended up treating myself to an elite package pedicure as well, with a gorgeous cat eye color on both my fingers and toes. I kept going back and forth between what I wanted and she was patient while helping me ultimately deciding and then made sure my nails came perfect! The color selection and style options for nails is amazing! Jimmy did my pedicure & Holly did my fill, both were great and I so much fun to speaking with. Service was horrible the lady didn't wanna tell us her name according to the manger Mabel, lady was complaining about filing and called us stupid! Kept yelling at us as we told her to clam down. I understand it can be frustrating someone being picky but no way for her to yell at us and say name and throw her tools at the water while our feet were there. Our first time here and never again. She kept yelling at us from a far after we told her to relax because really there was no reason for her to be rude. Mabel would let her yell at us after I told her can you tell her to stop yelling all she said was so sorry. It blows my mind that Fancy Nails has such bad reviews, the place is always packed, it is clear to me that the people who have a good experience here (like me), do not Yelp about it. I love this salon, I went to high school in Hollister, moved away for a decade, and just moved back and this is my go-to-spot. I recently moved to Hollister and was nervous about finding a good nail place. My nails are pretty high maintenance and basically I've found that only the dip powder will last! It's incredibly important to me that they last long because I have an infant and can't always find the time to get a manicure. This last time around they lasted 4 weeks!! I would've loved to get in sooner since they had grown out but life kept me super busy. Sandy is the only one who can do the dip manicure and she does an amazing job!! After waiting a whole year to get our nails done ( due to CoVid), we decided to go to " Fancy Nails" in Hollister. This was our second visit to Fancy Nails in the past 2 weeks. I should have learned my lesson the first visit. My daughter has left/side paralysis and it was obvious Mabel and the previous nail tech were not happy to work on my daughter's hand. But I returned because the building was big and clean, spacious for the wheelchair. Holly worked on me and Mabel on my daughter. Mabel's facial expressions showed she was frustrated and did not appear enthusiastic, we stuck around because service had already started. I guess Mabel is the owner and picks and chooses how " She" will treat each customer. When my daughter asked if Mabel would clean underneath her nail, Mabel responded with" No, you can clean them yourself when you get home". I wanted to get out at that moment but was half way through my fills. I thought manicures included cleaning the finger nails and grooming them? Overall, the work was sloppy! Holly did not say a peep and tried her best but I'm not satisfied with my nails, the ombré is fading to a yellowish beige after just 2 days. Our nail experience after waiting a whole year was just ruined by the poor service received. Our services that day were a manicure with gel and 1design, fills with Ombré/Gel and 2 pedicures with gel, my total was written on a piece of paper and it was $208. We did not get an opportunity to choose our design, Mabel just painted a flower of her choice on my big toe. I tried so hard to make it an enjoyable visit for my daughter but it was hard not to feel how horrible the service was. Lastly, Mabel made sure she asked me to tip all 4 people who did some work on us. I had already tipped 2 of the people. Mind you, they did not do the same pedicure for my daughter and I but we were charged the same. The staff here are very rude. The male sitting closest to the door didn't even greet me when I entered. The female staff barked orders at me and told me to "sit here" like a dog. She didn't say one word to me and it was the fastest pedicure I have ever had. She had me in and out in 25 minutes as she wanted me out of her station. She also kept checking her text messages. I love this place. It's small and quiet and after 14 years of coming here I decided it was time I leave a review. I have always received great service, perfectly manicured nails. One popular place in town led me to Fancy Nails when for the first time in my life I had a fungus not once but twice due to poor maintenance in that salon. That popular place is still in business and every once in a while, I see on our local Facebook page people complaining that the implements we're not properly cleaned and they have the same problem that led me to Fancy Nails. I was very happy with my results here! The first time I ever got my nails done I had a really bad experience. But they were awesome here. Little pricier than I was expecting but it was worth it. Huaong did my nails, and they look amazing. The fact that she took her time to make sure they looked good was the thing I look at the most. Last time I had my nails done, they had them done in 30 minutes. Here at fancy nails though, it took about a 20 minute wait and then it took about an hour and a half for my nails being done. That being said, I had an hour and a half to myself and really good looking nails afterwards. Very happy with the experience! Everyone was very nice there. read more

Got an appointment for a set of nails for 11 am. I got walked in and told the man in the front that I have an appointment for my name and he said ok take a seat. 20 min later the lady named lee calls me over and asked if I picked out a color. I said no I wasn't sure where they were because I had never been there. And then she was annoyed because I didn't pick. She tells me it's another 2$ extra to shape the nail in an almond shape and I said ok. I wanted her to clean up my dead skin around my nails and she said sorry I don't think I'll have time. My client is coming in and I won't have time. I'm kind of thinking to myself well that's rude because you have a customer right in front of you. I'm new to Hollister, so decided to give this nail salon a try after reading the reviews. I read a lot of good things about Sandy and thought I was lucky to get her to do my nails; however, this was not a pleasant experience for me (1) I had an appointment for two pedis and a fill and customer service was mediocre, since there were delays, (2) during my manicure, Sandy was so rough with filing my nails that she ended up cutting into my skin making it bleed (OUCH!) and kept going like it was nothing! While I'm in pain and had to stop her several times to recollect myself, and (3) it was just a rough job all throughout (I.e. nails are various sizes and somewhat similar but not really, limited color options, prices are okay but I think they increased it). I ended up changing what I was originally going to get done (French tips) and just went with a solid color because I knew it wasn't going to turn out the way I would like it. Poor customer service.
