Not so good: the cake itself was ok...but the strawberry/whipped filling was very seriously lacking in the strawberry department which resulted in a very bland cake. There were lazy efforts in the finishing of the fondant and icing- the bow on top was adhered to the cake in a messy way and the icing around the name plate was messed up and could have been fixed but they didnt bother. A month ago I called EIC on behalf of dear friends that needed specialty cupcakes created for the memorial of their 2 children. I had called other local bakeries, but without a doubt, EIC were the most professional, affordable, and sensitive to the nature of the situation. Not only did they create the most beautiful, and tasty cupcakes, the understood the weight of grief that came along with it. Went out to get dinner and had to go next door to my favorite bakery. It was a hard decision to make as to what to get. The staff are very friendly, and there was a gentleman customer also deciding on what to get, as we chose our desserts he decided he had to come over and order the same. The conversation between staff and the three of us customers was very humorous. We decided also on cherry and Nutella cookies and an eclair. These desserts are the bomb. I'm bummed I was really hoping to have found a good bakery. Staff was friendly. However, the cake ordered was misspelled. I also did not know that a 1 inch thick layer of frosting would be put as the filling. I requested raspberry filling and received a small amount compared to the generous amount of really sweet buttercream. The cake itself was dry. We did not end up eating it. My coworker had bought pies from this place a year ago and they were good had a berry pie and an apple pie I thought I would like the apple pie more I really don't like berry pies but this one was great. So when the holiday season came around I choose to get a pie from them rather then my go to Marie Callender or Coco's I know I'm basic but it is what it is. So I asked my coworker what pies they had and she named them off and the one that's sparked my interest was the chocolate pecan pie. I found Eccentric International Chefs at the bridal bazaar expo and it was love at first bite! I was looking for a wedding cake that my mother would be able to eat (she's diabetic) and this was perfect. The frosting was not too sweet and the filling was delicious. I gave them an inspiration photo and they nailed it. I only wish my husband and I got served a slice instead of just the first bite photo op, but that was the servers fault at our reception. I would definitely recommend them for your wedding if you're looking for a cake that's not overly sweet. You can see in the picture to the left they display beautiful designs for cakes and their website shows the same... gorgeous cakes. The picture on the right is what was delivered on my wedding day. Granted I ordered a 1 level cake vs a tired cake. Regardless, the care in the design and care for customers is clearly lacking and very embarrassing. They first did my parents wedding cake back in March, it was SOO beautiful and tasted amazing so my mom and I chose for them to do my baby shower cake and I seriously cannot say this enough, IT WAS THE BEST &MOST BEAUTIFUL CAKE OF MY LIFE! I agreed with another reviewer about their wedding cake, I had a very similar thing happen to me. The tasting and initial consultation was perfect, we didn't even consider any other bakery after meeting with Melina. The flavors were wonderful, we were very impressed. She was helpful and accomodating. Melina came up with some fantastic ideas on the design of the cake, even drew out a plan on how she would create it (piped flowers to match our wedding invitation, which I gave her a copy of). She said that her husband does the baking and she does the decorating. She even requested that I get larger sized color swatches from the paint store so she could match the colors we wanted for the iced flowers. I was so excited about the cake, it was actually the one splurge we had in the wedding budget, everything else I was making or creating myself. But to see the cake in person on my wedding day, I could not have been more disappointed. Instead of piped on flowers, it appeared that my wedding invitation had been photocopied onto a sheet of sugar and stuck on the sides of my cake. The colors were washed out and dull. The frosting job was sloppy and there was a fingerprint in it. There were no piped on flowers, nothing of what we'd discussed. The entire look was boring and so disappointing. Fortunately my husband's aunt is a florist and was able to decorate the cake with flowers to liven the look up. My friend wanted a "baby lunch" not shower with NO pink or pastels! So the only colors that would do, were red, black and white. I walked in 3 weeks before the event and ordered a chevron print cake serving 10 people. I told her that I didn't want to spend more than $50 and the price was so affordable I was shocked! A week before the shower, more people had RSVP'd. So I called Eccentric and asked if they can add more to the cake since more people will be attending. She said, "sure, no problem. So for an additional $20 she added a lady bug to the top of the cake and another layer, feeding 30 people! When I arrived to pick up the cake, I was nervous to see it. But when she showed me the cake looked great!! It was huge!
