I wanted to take my boyfriend somewhere nice...like a tearoom for his birthday like I have the past 2 times (it became tradition otherwise its not like hes a fan of tea rooms, haha). I yelped this place and decided to try it out since it was only 2 blocks from our apartment!
We arrived just before 9am, beating the rush. Its SO nice in here! So fancy! We were greeted by a nice host, and was served by a friendly Parisian woman.
Here's what we had (not all in one sitting of course!):
ANGELINA OMELET - 16 €
Ham, cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes.
Nothing completely special about this...pretty straight forward. It was good though! :)
ANGELINA BRUNCH - 39 €
Here's what the brunch came with, which I highly recommend sharing. My boyfriend and I shared this and we were stuffed!:
Angelina HOT CHOCOLATE...
Oh my goodness this is THE best hot chocolate I have ever had! This is what brought me back 3 more times under a week! It's thick, rich, creamy, not too sweet, and comes with a tiny cup of whipped cream!
Freshly squeezed ORANGE FRUIT JUICE...
Thick and sweet and absolutely fresh! So good!!!
Mini viennoiseries (PASTRIES) - Croissant, pain au chocolat, pain aux raisins...
Such cute little pastries that looks and tastes perfect! I usually just pack these to-go for the road since I"m already full from everything else!
Choice of 2 MACARONS...
Since I've done this twice, and was given 2 for free on a visit, here are the flavors I've tried:
- Strawberry - very strawberry in flavor! Anyone would enjoy this...yum!
- Pistachio - I loved how the flavor wasnt strong...yum!
- Caramel - I appreciate that this didn't taste like a caramel candy...it had a nice creamy taste to it! Yum!
- Coffee - It had a very slight and short coffee taste kick to it. Yum!
- Vienna (raspberry, hazelnut and cinnamon) - I definitely tasted both raspberry and cinnamon in this...may be a bit weird but I swear no matter what the flavors, I think macarons is guaranteed delicious! Yum!
- Chocolate - this didn't stand so much out for me...its just chocolate. :) It wasnt bad; its good. Yum.
Moisan organic BREAD ROLL - Butter, Angelina honey & jam...
Its just bread...good bread with all the works you can add to it. Simple :) Loved that Angelina had their very own jar of jam and mountain honey...nice flavor!
EGGS "My Way" prepared as you wish...
I chose omelet that had cheese in it...simple yummy and creamy omelet that I ate with my fois gras! YUM YUM!!!
Seasonal fresh FRUIT SALAD...
I was a bit turned off when this came out because it looked like something that came out of a fruit can. I was expecting a cup of freshly cut fruit like you would get here at the states. But you know what...this was good. It was in a fruit juice that wasn't too sweet and the fruits were good enough for me! Yum!
Semi-cooked duck FOIE GRAS terrine, brioche toasts, mango chutney...
I was excited about this!!! I ate this my omelet and smeared some on the toast! The bit of chutney it came with and the tiny pile of salt balanced out the flavors of the foie gras! It was creamy, not so potent, and it was rich! I was only able to finish half after all that food!
Chausson aux pommes (APPLE TURNOVER) - 4.9 €
This was really good. Flaky, buttery with a nice filling that wasn't skimp! Yum!
LE MONT-BLANC - 8,4 €
Meringue, chantilly whipped cream, chestnut cream vermicelli.
Oh wow this is their specialty! Yuu have to try it, its unique (to me)! This brain-muffin looking pastry actually tastes lighter than it looks. You have the meringue base, which gives it this light crispy crunch along your rich, light and smooth whipped cream, all covered in this layer of Chestnut puree that had this texture like fondant. All sorts of textures going on and it was amazing! Although it may be light in texture, its still quite sweet! Wish I had milk...
We wanted to try their quiche but apparently its not served during breakfast :( I"m sure it would have been good. I love it here...I miss it so much! read more
