Like most people have already said, their hot chocolate is amazing here! My coworker recommended this place to me and I knew I had to try it. Angelina is a cute dessert place with a bakery store front when you first walk in. When my sister and I came, there was no line, so we just walked right into the restaurant part and sat at our table. It's definitely very cramped in the restaurant with tables and chairs backed right next to each and in back. Service was really quick after you decide from the amazing menu what you want to eat. We chose the white hot chocolate and one dessert to share. The white hot chocolate was so delicious along with the cream! I have a pretty sweet tooth, so I even finished my sister's cup since it was too sweet for her. We ordered the Sisi because my sister loves macarons and it was a dessert with half a macaron with some creme and white chocolate leaves. It was so scrumptious and just melted in my mouth. Angelina's signature pastry (since 1903) is the Mont Blanc gâteau with Meringue, Whipped Cream, & Chestnut Cream Vermicelli. It's on many Yelper's Paris must-try list for a sweet reason ... it's pretty good. The other famous Angelina classic that everyone must try is the Chocolat l'Africain and it was by far my favorite thing we tried in the ornate Tea Room. The old-fashioned thick and, oh so, rich and dreamy Hot Chocolate is paired with pots of Whipped Cream and might of been the most intoxicating thing I drank in Paris. It's not just pretty good ... It's freaking GOOD! We also tried an a-ok Paris-New York Choux Pastry with Pecan Praline Light Cream, & Crunchy Pecan Praline that had textures and sweetness that don't blend just right. Our least favorite order was a Coupe Mont-Blanc with Meringue, Chestnut Ice Cream, Vanilla Ice Cream, Candied Chestnut Chards, and Whipped Cream. On one of the swankiest streets, in one of the swankiest arrondissements is the beautiful Angelina Tea Room. This Tea Room is perfectly Parisian. Beautiful ceilings, mirrored walls- I felt like I was whisked away to the times of Marie Antoinette. But let them eat Mont Blanc! I chose their popular Mont Blanc and hot chocolate. The Mont Blanc was beautiful. With a thick chestnut paste on top and a lighter than air meringue sandwiching the most delectable cream I have ever had. It is very rich so I recommend sharing. My husband insisted we go to Angelina, after his last trip to Paris with his mom. I was hesitant to go, as I thought it would be a tourist trap. While it is very expensive, I thought it was worth every penny for the experience, the food and the setting. We actually went twice during our short trip to Paris. It comes with your choice of coffee/tea, juice, fruit, croissants and bread rolls and your choice of eggs. My husband upgraded the eggs to an omelette, with cheese, ham and tomatoes, which was so worth it. The omelette was creamy and absolutely incredible. I shared some of the goodies from my husband's Angelina Breakfast, and I ordered the Benedict with smoked bacon (13.50 Euros). Holy. Heck. I've had my fair share of eggs benny, but this was hands down the best I've ever had. The hollandaise was smooth, thin but still creamy and the eggs were perfect. Where do I even begin.. We wait in line for 40 minutes before we sat down and an additional 20 minutes before anyone spoke to us. when we ordered we got a crepe and tried to get fruit on the side- this request was denied but we were able to get fruit with the French toast? (Rude!) I understand that service and being nice to your customers isn't as big of a deal in France as it is in the USA but they could've pretended to care. Continuing, we ordered iced coffee and they forgot THE ICE..... I'll let that one sink in for a second. As for how the food tasted it was disappointing everything was underwhelming. You know the food will be subpar when you're in France and everyone in the restaurant is speaking English. As for the hot chocolate (their specialty) it was like a melted chocolate bar (so thick) I wondered if it would solidify if I let it cool. Great service. We were seated quickly. The staff was nice and spoke English, for you English speaking tourists. We had the hot chocolate, their signature monte blanc and some tea. Can't mess up the tea so that gets no review. The hot chocolate was thick and very rich. It was a bit too sweet for my taste but still manageable. My boyfriend and I shared this and we were stuffed!: Angelina HOT CHOCOLATE... Oh my goodness this is THE best hot chocolate I have ever had! This is what brought me back 3 more times under a week! It's thick, rich, creamy, not too sweet, and comes with a tiny cup of whipped cream! Freshly squeezed ORANGE FRUIT JUICE... Thick and sweet and absolutely fresh! So good!!! Mini viennoiseries (PASTRIES) - Croissant, pain au chocolat, pain aux raisins... Such cute little pastries that looks and tastes perfect! I was excited about this!!! I ate this my omelet and smeared some on the toast! The bit of chutney it came with and the tiny pile of salt balanced out the flavors of the foie gras! It was creamy, not so potent, and it was rich! I was only able to finish half after all that food! Chausson aux pommes (APPLE TURNOVER) - 4.9 € This was really good. Flaky, buttery with a nice filling that wasn't skimp! Yum! LE MONT-BLANC - 8,4 € Meringue, chantilly whipped cream, chestnut cream vermicelli. Oh wow this is their specialty! Yuu have to try it, its unique (to me)! This brain-muffin looking pastry actually tastes lighter than it looks. You have the meringue base, which gives it this light crispy crunch along your rich, light and smooth whipped cream, all covered in this layer of Chestnut puree that had this texture like fondant. All sorts of textures going on and it was amazing! Although it may be light in texture, its still quite sweet! Wish I had milk... Parisian patisserie tea house and specialty shop. Absolutely darling. You can dine, or you can purchase and take home. You can have breakfast, a spot of lunch, maybe brunch, or how about just a luscious dessert?! That's the specialty here. The dessert, the pastries all look delicious and the 2 I tried lived up to that. Can't recall the name but do see the photo attached. It's the most popular pastry they have and the most well known. Delicious creaminess. Also not pictured was a strawberry pastry we ordered and devoured. We did also enjoy the eggs Benedict and a chicken Cesar's salad which was just fair. On our way out, we purchased a dessert for the room, 3 salted caramel chocolate boxes because they too were delicious and a few macarons. I might have to reconsider my friendship with Ina Garten. She highly recommended the hot chocolate at Angelina, likening its richness to "liquid truffles." Well, this beverage was entirely too sweet for my palette. I have a sweet tooth so I'm not sensitive to sugar levels, but it was difficult for me to finish this. Hoping I just got an imperfect batch. Making the trip to Angelina was like killing two birds with one stone because my other buddy Eric Ripert raved about their famous Mont Blanc. Meringue, light Chantilly, chestnut cream "vermicelli"... I liked the arrangement of textures but it honestly read better on paper. Between this dessert and the hot chocolate, I needed insulin. I surprisingly enjoyed my father's eclair much more. No matter who I asked for recommendations on where to go, Angelina always was on the list. We finally made it out to try their hot chocolate and also to have brunch. It was a misty Friday afternoon and arrived to what I had thought to be a fairly short line. I think we waited close to 30 minutes before being seated. Atmosphere was amazing inside which is what I had expected and though the tables were small and tightly placed together, the hot chocolate did not disappoint. It was rich and creamy and though sweet, it was probably the best I've ever had. We did opt for their non traditional croque madame sandwhich along with their chicken club, those were a bit disappointing. As others have mentioned, the croque madame almost looked like a normal ham sandwich with a sunny side egg placed on top. I guess the bechamel sauce was spread on the inside of the bread instead of being lathered on top. This was the better sandwich of the two we ordered. The chicken club was pretty hefty and did take a bit of work to actually take each bite as it stood pretty tall between 3 pieces of toast. Was nothing special and actually didn't think it was worth the 20 something euro price tag. We did end up trying the mont blanc and though the chestnut cream on top was good, the dessert didn't really wow me. The cookie center was light and crispy but didn't care for the sour taste. I would definitely head back for afternoon tea or just order their hot chocolate to go and skip the normal food all together. read more

Everyone told me about the amazing Angelina's hot chocolate when I was planning my trip to Paris. Yes, they have amazing chocolat chaud. No one told me that they have delicious lunch dishes and their service is impeccable. Angelina, you have managed to exceed my expectations. Hot chocolate, of course is a must. It is rich without being too sweet, has an amazing depth a of flavor (thanks to their three cocoa blend from African) and is great with or without their clotted cream. We planned on going to Angelina as a snack between museums but best laid plans of mice and men often go awry. So we had hot chocolate with Angelina's Croque Madame and Omelette. The Omelette was perfect and fluffy and arguably the best omelette we have had. It arrived with the fluffiest softest baguette I've had. The rumors are true! Baguettes taste better in France! And the Croque Madame tasted of fluffy fresh baked crust less bread perfectly dipped in egg. So good. And the dining rooms were crusted with gold tones and rich woods. I felt so luxurious and well taken care of. Bottled water is finished and someone appears to ask if you want another. The staff was always watching without making you feel intruded upon. It felt like I was at a 2 Michelin star, while spending a fraction of the price. I like that. Afterwards, I thanked our waiter for their baguettes and hot chocolate. I really do not agree with the average review ratings for this one. I had a sad experience all the way through and would not recommend coming here to anyone. We were seated pretty quickly. The tables were very small giving me the impression that this was more of a high tea spot than a brunch spot. Waiters took more than 20 minutes to come and take our order after multiple attempts to flag them down. I ordered the eggs benedict and it took a while for the order to come out. My dish easily had the smallest eggs benedict I had ever seen. The whole plate was about 5 bites and I was terribly disappointed to be paying near €20 for that tiny portion of food. The food itself also fell short as the bread was too chewy and difficult to bite and the hollandaise sauce was very very sour. Service was slow throughout as our water cups seemed to always be empty. When it came time for dessert, I was rather excited since the desserts looked like they couldn't go wrong. I ordered a caramel layered pastry and my mom sister and friend ordered their own pastries as well. The texture and taste of mine were terrible and each small pastry was overpriced at around €10-€12. When I finished my pastry i noticed a stain below the plate and lifted it up to find that the entire underside was dirty and food stained. It's as if they took a used plate, wiped up the upper surface so that it looked white and clean and served my pastry on there. The hot chocolate is the richest, thickest I've ever seen. It's sweet and delcious, but share it with at least 1-2 other people. I think it's way to much to drink it by yourself. I tried and I felt sick after. The raspberry eclair was not good and they ran out of the mille feuille, which looked good. A bit pricey, but you're in a classy hood. Be prepared for lines! read more

You're served the hot chocolate and whipped cream (get the side of whipped cream) that's so indulgent and so much more in quantity than if you were to take out. The hot chocolate is tongue-burning hot and the whipped cream is unusually thick and room temperature. It's a beautiful mix. For the other dessert at Angelina, they're good but not stand out. It was thick, rich and sugary sweet. The provided whipped cream was enough to help with the thickness but more milk was preferable to finish the entire serving. I have a feeling I'm going to get slammed for this overdue review but I didn't think the hot chocolate was all that good. Now I'm no hot chocolate expert and I can certainly tell the hot chocolate at Angelina's was real...it just came off as too thick for me. That probably wouldn't have been as much as a problem as I probably should have put in more whip cream, but the dessert I had (Le Mont Blanc) was bland as well and tasted like it had been in the fridge too long. However, because of its elegant decor (you can definitely see why Audrey Hepburn liked to visit) and its great location next to the Jardin des Tuileries, it's hard for me to tell you NOT to go to this place - in fact, I think it's very much worth it for the ambiance.
