I have been shopping at this location since it opened in 2007, and I have seen many employees come and go. However, Ivanna at the deli counter is by far the best I have encountered since the store opened. I believe that employees should be recognized for exceptional service when it is deserved. Ivanna always greets customers with a smile and is eager to assist them. I hope management acknowledges her efforts and recognizes her outstanding service. Great employees are hard to find and retain. Rosa in the bakery department is unfortunately at the other end of the spectrum. Rosa is so rude and unhelpful that my wife avoids the bakery department completely! I, on the other hand, will not let one rude and unprofessional employee keep me from any department in that store. I have asked Rosa time and time again for assistance in getting fresh bread, only to be told that there is none available to bake (even though I can see there is in the background) or that they first have to sell what is in the baskets. Both are incorrect answers to a customer. I run my own business, and my employees know that the customer is always right. I only hope that management corrects this problem promptly, because one toxic employee can ruin the rest of the team. read more

This is one of the better Caputo's that I have been to. Very organized and well stocked. Many homemade items as well as a great deli and bakery even tho they want to give you more than you tell them! This is the cleanest, most well stocked and organized Caputo's market that I have visited. I was impressed with how many gluten free products they have available. Almost an entire aisle as well as a frozen section had gluten free products. The bakery carries some items made by Ideal Bakery including pączki for Fat Tuesday .The deli service was slow but everything was sliced as ordered. I asked the cashier why they had a live band playing near the entrance by the bar area. She said they come play once a year but didn't add anything further. Stopped in to pick up some sweet treats for work , and while I was there I thought I would get an iced coffee. I was the only one in line and the worker was chatting with customers sitting at the counter, resulting in a longer wait than needed. I love this store, even tho it's kind of a long drive for me, thru all that Randall Road traffic. But I do it because the store has so many great imports one can hardly find at all, or at best, have to hit multiple stores to gather them all up. The produce, deli, and bakery are outstanding. I love the hot bar, I always grab some meatballs and sauce to take home. They have an in-house coffee bar if you get tuckered out, and excellent meat selections. Worst service ever in the deli department. I stood there for 5 minutes (and only one other customer ordering) without an acknowledgment or anything. After 5 minutes more customers accumulated (4-5 people now) and one customer was being helped. There were about 7-8 employees behind the deli counter and I understand there are other tasks to be done... but only one customer being helped with 8 employees behind the counter is unacceptable. They're best at: niche foreign items, cheese, dried sausage, and lunch meat, and bread. Sometimes depending on what you get produce wise it can be worse than other grocery stores. But if you need a specific type of pear, this is the best place. Service is usually courteous, sometimes when buying alcohol I could be holding my ID to speed things up. Knowing I will be carded. One lady acts really rude and condescending & basically yells "I'm going to need to see some ID right now" like chill, use your eyes. Last time I held the ID at almost eye level before she could speak and she still acted rude. I think she just gets something out of acting rude to people younger than her. Since it's happened at least 4 times, I imagine its a common experience. I once got carded for Ginger Beer. So I stopped buying alcohol here, and only go to Binny's due to the professionalism difference. It's a shame since they have a solid selection of international beverages. Went there to get some pork cutlets on sale 1,99 lb for dinner and picked up few other items. Didnt have peanut butter on sale and best choice waffles as advertised The worst part was after checking out, Putting bags in car and the bag with the pork cutllets only one in bag and i bought 2. Look at receipt last item scanned 3,90 cutlets, Go back in with the one I received cashier says he doesnt know, Go to customer service she keeps looking at receipt and bag with one finally asks cashier he says doesnt know, after minutes of diliberation she says have to talk to manager. Gone long time finally comes back says go get replacement close to same price. I go back nothing close picked up one 2.75 bring up and she gives me a look and just keeps looking at package. Now another girl comes out of side office and thy stand off to side and keep talking between them. I am so mad by now i finally say is there a problem should be an easy exchange. Other girl goes trying to figure out how to refund since not ssme price. I go not rocket science refund amount on meat and ring up new one. She claims can not do that get in trouble with management then says I dont have to get so testy after i have been there now long time. I have never been treated so bad for something they did like I stole 3.90 Told them come look in my car. Now everyone is looking at us. Finally get refund difference of 1.18. Get to car look at receipt the refund on receipt spells out pork cutlets 3.90 and new rung up same so they were lying when said didnt know how to refund cause it wasnt just on meat key. I have never been treated so bad and it was very humiliating. Had only 3 bags total and the other 2 bags were already in cart when he scanned the meat and it was last package of meat not received. My wife and I go to this Caputo's weekly. Their produce selection is vast. The fish counter is above par for a small grocer and their fresh meats are very very good. Yes, there are some dated selections there but I just steer clear of those. Their crowning jewels are their deli section and their international/ethnic aisles. In regards to the deli, I have never seen so many cheese selections in my life. There is always something good, new, and different for us to try. The staff at the counter are great too. They always seemed to have enough people back there to keep things moving even when it was crowded. The international sections have so many different selections, and for us being foodies and adventurous cooks, the huge selection of products gives us the ability to try as many cuisines as we can. The only tough part from time to time is the checkout lines can be long and sometimes don't move as fast as in other stores. read more

Pros include nice selection of ethnic foods and decent produce section though some spoilage. Cons include: scary bad fish counter with dried out and clearly spoiled fish on display. Meats also quite suspect with odd colors in chicken packages and very sketchy packaged meats labelled with "packaged" dates that were clearly the day it got a price tag, not the day it was processed out of state. Finally thought I found a good price on avocados only to find the price only applies with their app. Nowhere on sign does it say that. I thought Jewel was the only one still pulling that crap. I was visiting this store 11/5/2024 to purchase several items on sale which started 12/4/24. I looked for Cracovia pickled mushrooms on sale for $3.99 for 800g jar. The shelf was empty. I checked out with my other groceries and proceeded to the service desk for a rain check. I was informed there are no raincheck for items. I asked to speak to a manager. After talking to 2 clerks in the groceries department, I finally had the privilege to talk to the grocery department. I was told conflicting stories of the truck was late that day, to we expect delivery on Monday to we don't know when we will get the shipment. I should come back in and keep checking. I informed them I shop once a week and it will cost more in gas to keep coming back. I tried to tell him this was deceptive advertising, not bait and switch..which is still against the law reportable to the state's attorney General's office. I've shopped here for years, but admit that I hadn't been back during the pandemic (the terms for curbside pick-up weren't satisfactory). I went back the other day to pick-up some deli meats and vegetables. I also bought a loaf of local (Chicagoland area) bread and a pack of hamburger buns. The bread was moldy within a day of purchase. This evening I bit into a hamburger only to discover the bottom of the bun was covered in green mold. Buyer beware. read more

I thought this was extremely lazy and rude knowing many rely on their SNAP benefits to buy food me included and should have addressed this on the spot or sent me to another register. I have been shaping at Caputo's for a long time. I like the store, their produce is good and it's close to home. I understand that prices are double what they were two years ago and there really isn't anything we can do about it right now; however, when it comes to customer service I expect the best. I am not a "Karen" and very rarely complain but I was livid when I walked out of the store today. I bring my own bags when I grocery shop and put them on the belt before I place my items. The checker took the bags and tossed them to the other end of the counter and started to ring my items up. When I asked if we could please use my bags first she picked them up and tossed them back to where my groceries were being rung up. She was very busy talking to, I assume was a manager, about her days off and what days she would be working that next weekend. She just kept piling my groceries to the other end and pushing them so I went and started to bag my own groceries. I had three of my own bags and needed one more bag for the eggs and a bag of chips. She continued to "chat" with the other woman and handed me my receipt and said thank you leaving the eggs and chips on the counter. I finally pulled a plastic bag and put the two items in it. She said mam, I'm sorry; at which the other woman said "don't be sorry". I spent almost $90 on three bags of groceries and no meat to be treated that way. I understand things are more expensive everywhere but that being said customer service has gone down the tubes. I don't think I'll be shopping at Caputo's any more. read more

I'm tired of purchasing poor quality meats past their prime. Smelly chicken a week before the sell by date. Today, I mistakenly purchased refrigerated beef sticks that had expired 6 weeks ago. Worst place to buy fresh meat. We had to throw out $20 worth of meat because it didn't last until its sell by date. The chicken was dated October 31 and pork was dated November 1. Threw them out October 30. Both packs of meat were in our house for only 2 days. Produce is a similar problem. We always bring fruit flies home from there and the produce is so dirty. It's usually too ripe to last longer than a day or 2. We now only go there for the deli, fresh bread, and ethnic foods. read more

They have a great selection of ethnic products especially their Italian items. DOP tomatoes, great olive oil, vinegars, pasta, etc. They also have a great selection of Italian/European bakery breads. The deli is usually spot on too, but you have to watch some of the employees slicing practices. You ask for thin sliced, and say they wii but won't, or show you thin and turn the knob to make the meet or cheese thicker. Very common and pisses me off. I stopped buying fresh meat there a while ago because of the relabeling issues. It seems to not last for a couple days before starting to turn. Also you really need to inspect your produce over there. As someone said in another review "it's where produce goes to die". The employees overall are very helpful and friendly. I love shopping at Caputos and other than the beef they sell, I've been satisfied with everything I've bought there. I bought strip steaks once and they were flavorless even when we'll seasoned. I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I tried a chuck roast and it had a really funky flavor. It even smelled differently while it was roasting. I've been cooking for years and have never had this issue. I'll continue to shop at Caputos for other things, but I'm done buying their beef. I'd rather pay the Costco price and know that I'm getting quality beef with great flavor. read more

Lady that run deli department (Maria I think) is horrible. I asked if they were going to be making more subs, she said yes. After I finished my shopping (about 25 mins later) there were still no subs. I asked her again and she then grabs someone to make them and tells me 10mins. The same thing happened at the caputos in carol stream and they had one out to me in 3 mins right when I asked. Also the manager came over and had her reprint stickers for items to say they were packed today, when they were previously packed. Absolutely disgusting!!! This caputos is just horrible in general. Caputo's has a delicious hot food section. Their Italian Meatball sandwich is delicious! For 4.99 you get a pretty hefty sandwich that will definitely fill you up. They've got a nice little bakery section. Their brownies are scrumptious! Even the sushi section is decent for supermarket sushi! My go-to place for fruit and deli meats/cheeses. They have Boar's Head, even pickles and condiments. Nice assortment in their ethnic aisle and their gluten-free/organics section. There's also a Chase branch inside. You can score dirt-cheap prices on ripening produce that is sold in cases/containers (Hanover Park's location does this too). Like a box of xlarge cucumbers for only $1.49, ataulfo mangoes $2, tomatoes $2. Considering that a fruit smoothie cost me $5, I was amazed at those prices lol. They also sell air-chilled chicken. I first heard about this type of chicken on America's Test Kitchen where it was the clear winner. I wasn't able to find a store that sold it until I went to Caputo's earlier this month. It was priced at $6.29/lb, a bit pricey. When I returned 2 weeks later to stock up, the price had been jacked up to over $9/lb so that was a no-go for me. Their rotisserie chicken is $6, so we got that instead, and it was delicious, not dry at all. read more
