Angelo's Italian Deli - Bethany, OK Every once in a while you walk into a restaurant and leave feeling like you discovered something special. That's exactly what happened on our first visit to Angelo's Italian Deli. I first stumbled across Angelo's on social media and added it to my growing list of places to visit. Since we were already in Bethany for one of my Route 66 adventures, it was the perfect opportunity to stop in. They've only been open about 7-8 months, but I have a feeling they're going to become a favorite in the Oklahoma City food scene. The deli is spotless, organized, and welcoming. We were greeted by Angelo himself. After introducing ourselves and telling him it was our first visit, he happily walked us through the menu and recommended two of their most popular sandwiches--the Reuben and the Hot Pastrami. I already had my mind set on the Reuben, so that decision was easy. My wife ordered the Bianca pizza, made with Alfredo, ricotta, house mozzarella, shaved Parmesan, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Now here's the funny part... Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a ricotta cheese fan. Texture has always been my issue. But I promised I'd at least give her pizza a try. My Reuben arrived first, and wow...it disappeared fast. Tender corned beef piled high, perfectly toasted bread, melted Swiss, tangy sauerkraut, and just the right amount of dressing. It was every bit as good as Angelo promised. When the Bianca pizza arrived, I cautiously grabbed a slice. I still pushed a little of the ricotta aside (old habits die hard), but the crust was fantastic, the mozzarella and Parmesan were excellent, and the balsamic drizzle tied everything together beautifully. While ricotta still isn't my favorite, I absolutely understood why people order this pizza. The highlight of the visit came after we finished eating. Angelo stopped by our table and spent several minutes talking with us. He shared stories about cooking in New York City, his years as a chef, and how he eventually found his way to Oklahoma. You could immediately tell this isn't just another restaurant--it's his passion. Before leaving we asked about dessert. He recommended the cannoli first, followed by the lemon cake and tiramisu. Now comes what my wife calls the "Terry Twist." Remember...I don't like ricotta. But cannoli filling is made with ricotta blended with mascarpone, so I decided to trust Angelo. I'm glad I did. That cannoli was outstanding--one of the best I've ever eaten. Angelo mentioned he has the shells brought in from New Jersey, and they were perfectly crisp with an incredible filling. Sometimes the best part of dining out isn't just the meal--it's meeting someone who genuinely loves what they do. Angelo made us feel like guests instead of customers. The dining room is small with several two-top tables, but they do a huge takeout business, and after this experience I can definitely see why. We'll absolutely be back. What a quaint little spot in Bethany! Greeted promptly by the owner, he gave me a run down of the food offerings from hot to cold sandwiches, to their handmade cannolis. I ended up with the Abruzzi. On my last visit I met a friend for lunch on a Tuesday. All tables but one were full when I arrived. I snagged a table for us. My friend hadn't been there before. I recommended anything on the rosemary loaf and he accepted that suggestion. I ordered the Nonna's meatball sandwich on rosemary loaf. This was every bit as comforting and warm as I hoped it would be. I sampled a few bites of meatball by themselves. They were not as herby or beefy as I like meatballs to be but they were nevertheless delicious. The main problem with this sandwich was my choice of the rosemary loaf. It was too dense for my taste and made the bites too tall for my mouth. I adapted by removing the top piece of bread and eating like a crostini. I took the rest of the bread home. It was too delicious to throw away. Next time I will try the smaller sub roll that they call a "roll." Another downside of this restaurant is the chairs. They are high and not stable. The minute you try to adjust yourself in the seat, the whole chair wobbles. I nearly fell down twice. To avoid knocking over the fake flowers on our table and to give us more space to eat, I moved the vase of fake flowers to the floor. read more

We had the Gigi and Juliette, both were very good the flavors are unique and the size is good for the price. the Juliette has balsamic and green apples and the Gigi has red peppers and is slightly spicy. 2 sandwiches is 30 dollars. I really wanted it to be everything I had seen on video. Ordered a sandwich on the toasted side of the menu and it never got anywhere near a toaster. A sandwich on cold focaccia isn't something I look forward to. Just a bit shell shocked when 2 sandwiches, 2 cans of soda, and a side of potato salad was $50 when it's not even prepared properly. My wife wanted me to go to the counter to get my sandwich fixed, but the place is too busy and too small to wait in line to get it fixed. Went home to toast it.... Not ideal. Terr his is a newer restaurant (where mentalitea used to be). They have all kinds of amazing food and deserts. I like that I can drop in and grab items in the cabinet or have them make me a pizza or sandwich. The service is really top notch and the staff and owner are so helpful. Got their new Hot Italian beef sandwich to go. It was practically flavorless, covered in pepper seeds and very dry (no au jus as they said it would have). I literally took one bite and threw it away. The other reviews were right -- the sandwiches are huge (in the best way!). When we asked about sizes, the owner explained we could choose a roll instead of a loaf. We tried one of each, and I'm glad I went with the roll while my friend tackled the loaf. Prices were very reasonable, and the food was absolutely worth it. The owner mentioned that items have been flying off the shelves. Even with the challenges of running a new restaurant and dealing with unpredictable shipping, he still had a big smile on his face and reassured us that he'd have all the supplies he needed by the end of the week. The ambiance was nice, everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming. A great addition to the area! We will definitely be back to try out some of the other sandwiches and hot foods!! read more

The person who rated this place 2 stars is a LIAR. This place feels like home. The people are sooooo KIND and they will take care of you from beginning to end. Tell them what you want and they will make it happen. & so quickly! We called about a charcuterie board and not only did they have it made in less than 30 mins but it was CHEFS KISS GORGEOUS. We came here last week for sandwiches and they almost had me in tears at how FLAVORFUL they were. You just can't get food like that around here. So glad to have this place. The ambiance is beautiful and we will be repeat customers for as long as he is here. The desserts are also amazing. I've never had such a tasty cannoli or chocolate cake. I kept hearing about this place and finally made it - so glad I did! If you haven't experienced Angelo's Deli yet, you need to put your shoes on, get in the car and head to Bethany! Angelo Cipollone is an Italian from Yonkers NY and his authentic Italian fare is legit! It was difficult to make a choice, but today I had the Paisano Pizzette (pesto, crispy chicken, sundried tomatoes, house mozzarella) and it was outstanding! That bread, y'all. I also had the Ravioli Balsamic Pasta Salad, which was excellent. My friend ordered the Cugino toasted sandwich (chicken cutlet, house mozzarella, roasted red peppers, pesto herbs w/house vodka sauce on rosemary loaf) and it was also delicious! The menu is mostly hot or cold sandwiches and pizzettes, but there is also a different hot item offered daily - today was some yummy-looking rustic Chicken Cacciatore and the zuppa del giorno was Italian Wedding Soup. Other entrees include Stuffed Peppers, Eggplant Parmgiana, Meatballs, etc. It's a deli so, of course, there are numerous sliced meats & cheeses available by the pound. Daily desserts include Tiramisu and traditional (chocolate chip) Cannoli, which is made fresh to order. I paired my delectable cannoli with a fabulous cappuccino made by Angelo himself! The decor is simple and tasteful but if you're wanting to eat-in, seating is limited so go early. In fact, Angelo's serves several tasty breakfast sandwiches, along with various caffe' beverages & biscotti from 8-10 am! (there's even a drive-thru!) They are open M-F 8-6 and Sat 8-2. Whenever you decide to go, be sure to meet the charming Angelo because he is the highlight of Angelo's Italian Deli - he will make your day better! I am already planning my next visit - I will probably choose the Italian Beef sandwich, or maybe the Hot Pastrami w/potato salad, or perhaps the Reuben? I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars. I just moved to Oklahoma and have seen this place pop up on a ton of videos raving about the sandwiches. My husband and I went in and each ordered a sandwich to-go plus two caprese sandwiches for our vegetarian friends. We looked at the menu online before coming in and the caprese were advertised as $6. It came as a bit of a shock when our total was $58 and some change for only four sandwiches. I'm assuming the price online is incorrect but with only one person taking orders and one person making them on a busy Saturday afternoon, it wasn't worth waiting even longer to dispute it. We waited well over half an hour for them to be made, and while tasty I'm not sure we'll be back. read more

The best Italian deli! So many choices from sandwiches, toasted or cold, a hot table with daily special and salads. I stay in Arkansas and just happened to see this Deli on Tik Tok and the food looked AMAZING (spoilers, it was). I have some family in Oklahoma so I thought, why not pay them a visit and take them out to lunch? We stopped by EVERY SINGLE DAY for lunch and enjoyed it out in the picnicarea.The food was SO good and the sandwiches were HUGE considering their affordable price.​ My favorite sandwich is the Gino-Gino and my favorite pizzette is definitely Nonna's Garden. Good was "okay" but it's just a sandwich and should not have taken an hour for 3 sandwiches. Small venue with outdoor space, nails poking out of the picnic table tops. My daughter in law asked after 20 min and the counter staff said we never ordered or she would've written it down.
