Great service and delicious food! The entire experience was fantastic and I look forward to going back!

We've been coming to Cafe 501 for many years and have never been disappointed. This visit mirrored our past experiences. The menu is new (love that) with some old favorites as well. The entrance has had a light refresh as well. Gone is the big glass dessert display case but the additional walking space is nice. Sadly we learned that the cakes are being discontinued, RIP the wonderful carrot cake. Fortunately we snagged one of the last pieces. It's my understanding that cookies and other sweet treats will still be available. The menu is loaded with new and exciting choices. Deciding what to choose was a great problem to have. We started with the Trio Dipper with house made chips and balloon bread, which is like pita bread on steroids and just as delicious. The dip selections were terrific and we were brought more chips when ours ran low. Two of us ordered the Tuscan Chicken. They were exceptional bites. They were parmesan breaded chicken fritters stuffed with the tomatoes and cheese. It's an inventive take on a traditional recipe and a tasty home run! My husband ordered the Chicken Piccata, looking for a lower calorie option. The lemon butter wine sauce was delicious and it's a terrific option. The last guest chose the fried chicken which is an old and familiar favorite. You absolutely cannot go wrong. We ended the night sharing a piece of carrot cake and a salted caramel cookie. read more

My wife and I have eaten here 4 or 5 times in the past year. We mostly hit the Sunday brunch (table service) but have also had lunch (counter service). We obviously enjoy the food, quality service and ambiance. It is owned by the same family that owns Boulevard Steak House and Sparrow Italian in the same building (those are also top notch, but pricey). 501 has some killer quiche, very good huevos rancheros and a good Cuban. But we both opted for the steak and eggs this time. The eggs were cooked a perfect over medium as requested and the medallions were also a medium and reminiscent of what we have had next door (coincidence?). We had another solid dining experience and will (and have) bring friends here without hesitation. read more

My husband and I went here last weekend. For lunch, you are able to order at the counter and seat yourself. Dinner is a seated service. My husband ordered the coyote chicken wrap. He paid an up charge for the side caesar which he felt was not worth it. I ordered the coyote chicken which comes with the 501 salad. Mine was worth it! This place has been around a while, but I still found it just as good as the last time I was there several years ago. You order your food at the counter, get your own drinks from the fountain, then take a seat and they'll bring your food to you. Menu isn't huge, but definitely adequate and they had several gluten-free and vegan options for those interested. Food is always good . Great lunch spot to meet up with girlfriends! First time trying Cafe 501 and it was very good. We had the short ribs with risotto and the chicken Parm. Both were excellent. Especially the short ribs. Sunday brunch with friends at Cafe 501 in Edmond. The restaurant is fun, upbeat, with a nice vibe. It' s in an old building with a modern decor inside. We started with Bloody Marrys. I believe the one we ordered is named Barcelona Bloody Marry. They had hot sauce added, which gave them just a little "kick." Thoroughly enjoyed them. I ordered the black bean quasadiaa. It's not your usual quasadiaa that you find in TexMex restaurants. The presentation is different, in a good way. It is hearty and flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I was unable to eat all of it. Jan ordered the Hueavous Ranchero. It too is very robust and hardy. She thoroughly it, but was unable to finish it. Tried it again. No one there is friendly. This time I got the $30 "braised short rib." I got it to go so that I could eat it the next day. After being refrigerated overnight, I went to prepare it for the oven by cutting it into pieces, and I noticed it was almost a solid block of white fat!! Almost inedible. I'm not opposed to a bit of marbling. But this was just gross. $30 wasted. Isn't Oklahoma a cattle state? Shouldn't these places know better. read more

This Cafe501 location is beautiful in downtown Edmond. My friends and I made a reservation on a Friday night at 8:00 p.m and had excellent service! Food: *Chicken Parmesan* I ordered this dish that came with Fettuccine Alfredo pasta and substituted the spinach for a side of mashed potatoes and cream gravy. If you are a mashed potatoes fan, you will LOVE these perfect Yukon gold mashed potatoes!! Portion was huge and I ended up taking most of my food home with me and ate it for a couple more times as leftovers. *Hummus* Cafe 501's hummus is so smooth and creamy, I need the recipe! I am very particular about hummus, and this one was just perfect...not too grainy, salty, or bland. This was served with tortilla chips, pita bread, and carrot slices. I was a fan of the pita and carrot, not so much the chips. *Spinach & Artichoke Dip* This artichoke dip was as good as you can get. It came with salsa (delicious!), sour cream (not sure why it was served with this? but I guess some people like sour cream with this dip!), and tortilla chips. Drinks: *Margarita* I ordered a regular margarita with Patron. My favorite alcohol is tequila and one of my favorite drinks is a margarita and it had been quite a while since I've sat down for dinner with some of my favorite girls and had a drink since being pregnant & having a baby! This drink was amazing, and hit JUST right with a good amount of tequila and not too sweet. This restaurant has a good reputation in Edmond and is a popular spot. We made reservations for dinner with friends on a Friday night. Our table was ready on time and our server was professional but friendly. We ordered drinks and an appetizer (Calamari) before looking over the menu. It was pretty busy but I was surprised by how long it took to get our drinks. The entrees took longer than usual as well but we were visiting so it wasn't an issue. Entrees were Santa Fe Chicken, (excellent!) Shrimp and Grits. The food was delicious and presentation was excellent. My Santa Fe Chicken had the perfect mix of flavors and texture. Went here for my birthday lunch and was not disappointed in the food! The old stained menus and the atmosphere left a bit to be desired (long line and loud chatter). However, one my Pop Rocks tacos hit the table all was right in the world. They are delicious and fresh as was the side salad. The three types of cake we got to celebrate me were also more than I needed to make me feel special and decadent. Overall a great experience, but wanted to give a genuine critique of the experience. We came in on a Saturday for a late lunch. It was so good and relaxing. This will be a place we will be returning to for many years to come.

I will start by saying we did not have a bad experience, but everything about it was only okay. We went around dinner time and the inside was not lively at all. The overall interior is traditional and did not seem as upscale as the menu seemed the restaurant would be. So if you're looking for a thriving ambiance or modern aesthetic, this isn't for you. We did not have any issues with service. Our waitress was nice and prompt to serve us. But, the food was okay at best. Our biggest complaint was that the food did not have much flavor. We may try checking out this place for brunch, but this was not a great dinner spot in my opinion. :/ read more

I was wildly disappointed with my visit here. I went knee to their old location and this was nowhere near the same level it was but still with the high price. I have no problem paying for a stellar meal but this missed the mark. The beef dish was flavorful but the portion was small. The chicken Parmesan cooked well and moist, but was flavorless even with the sauces. I genuinely have had better at Olive Garden. For two meals and two salads the pre tip price was nearly $70. I used to frequent the Classen Curve location and loved it -- never an issue. I visited the Edmond location and was shocked by the ridiculous pricing. My friend and I each ordered the cup of tomato soup/half grilled cheese combo and two waters. This lunch (no more than a kids portion) cost $32.00! What the heck? We had a wonderful meal here last night, my first visit to a Pete Holloway restaurant since his untimely passing. It was lovely to realize that when you've built something amazing, it keeps going after you're gone. We are buying a house in Edmond, so prepare yourself for all my new reviews! I've been to the Edmond 501 before (although I've never reviewed it) and I love the one in OKC. Yesterday, we went to meet our contractor at the new house, and when we left we realized we were starving, so we hightailed it over to 501. I had a Caesar salad that was wonderful. I am a Caesar addict and I know where all my favorite ones are, all over town. So now, I'll have to learn my Edmond Caesars! My only complaint was I didn't love the chicken that was added. My husband had the ranchero bowl, and I was jealous of his perfectly grilled-to-order chicken, up against my sad little cold boiled chicken. I think next time I just need to ask for fresh, hot, grilled chicken, even if it costs more. But that was a salad I will 100% be ordering again. I had a 6 ounce glass of Rombauer Chardonnay, and Kasey had the Arena Blackbird Cab. Neither one of us have been drinking lately, so a glass of wine was a nice treat. I managed to avoid the calorie catastrophe that is the baked goods case, but Kasey did not escape unscathed, and got a chocolate chip cookie and some of their legendary granola to take home.
