This was the absolute best Patty melt on rye that i have ever gotten in my almost 50 years. it was the perfect bread to meat to cheese to onion ratio and with an added side of 1000 island dressing to dip it in...made it perfect! Metro Diner May 11, 2026 I absolutely love this place. During this visit, I ordered the fish and chips and was blown away by the portion size. The serving was huge and easily one of the best values I've found in a restaurant meal recently. The white cod was flaky, tender, and cooked perfectly. Paired with the tartar sauce and a little malt vinegar, it made for an outstanding meal. The fish had a great crispy exterior while remaining moist and flavorful on the inside. The fries were excellent, the service was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable. Metro Diner continues to impress with generous portions, quality food, and great service. First time here and we absolutely loved it!! We always search for local places to eat when we visit a city and this place was amazing. The team was very welcoming and all smiles. That's rare to see in a lot of places. Our server, Alexis (Lexi), was fantastic!! She took care of us, was very attentive, and always came to church on us at the perfect time. I had the spicy honey chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint!! Flavorful, juicy, right amount of spice. My husband had the chicken pot pie. He loved it! Everything was made fresh. There was nothing pre-made or warmed up in a microwave. They had Christmas music playing at a nice volume. This is my go to for a quick bite, but also they have the best fried chicken and waffles. Roscoe's, move over! Plus the delectable strawberry butter that comes with it standard - it's top notch. I usually swap out bone-in fried chicken for the tenders when I order it or just get the chicken tender plate. The green beans are so tasty! This is one of the few diners in the city that will cook your burger to the temperature you want. Not everyone wants a well done burger, if you know what I mean. My kid is obsessed with the chocolate cake they have for dessert. Rich and loaded with chocolate. The service is always friendly and helpful. We had an incident once where a teen could care less about doing anything right and he's not there anymore. ;) Ambiance is clean and simple, but cozy and inviting. The chicken was hot and the coating was good, but the breast meat was a bit dry. I'm sure that's due to cooking the meat to 165 degrees.
