Good food and great service. Cafe Antigua is one of my favorites, and they have great coffee.

If you love Cafe Kacao but hate the lines, Cafe Antigua is your answer. The food quality and flavors are easily comparable. After hearing about the family ties to Cafe Kacao, we finally made it to Cafe Antigua--and it did not disappoint. We often crave Guatemalan breakfast as a vibrant alternative to standard American fare, and this spot delivered on every front. I'd read a few concerns regarding portion sizes versus cost, but I'm happy to dispel those narratives. The portions were perfect. While we might be accustomed to over-the-top serving sizes in America, the quality and quantity here were spot on for the price. We enjoyed the Machaca omelet and the Machaca scrambled eggs; both were packed with flavor. We also shared an order of churros that were exactly as they should be: crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and incredibly fresh. Great service, fair prices, and a much less busy dining room. But then again we went on a Wednesday morning. The weekends may get as busy as their family friendly rival down the street. read more

My favorite breakfast spot in OKC (even went here the day of my wedding in the morning). I love the spicy mutaleno, the refried beans are the best in the city, and we always get plantains with sweet dipping sauce. Their coffee is amazing with seasonal flavors and drinks. Every dessert I've had has been immaculate especially their churro cheesecake which was so good. The inside is quaint and always a bit crowded and loud. It is always busy in the mornings so make sure to have an online reservation. Parking can also be tricky but there is a lot above the restaurant where you can park. read more

I always get the Mazapan latte it is delicious and not too sweet even with the whipped cream. The migas is spectacular and the black beans have so much flavor on any plate you get. I love that it comes with the fresh fruit with mango sauce. The fresh guacamole is exactly what it says it is. It's a big loud inside once it gets busy, but the food makes it worth the stay. read more

Wonderful meal. CARNE ADOBADA pictured. We had the nachos as well, which were some of the best lloaded nachos I've had. I added steak, and the fried onions really brought the nachos together. The Carne Adoba was extremely flavorful. I loved the beans,, which were pureed and different than anything I've had before. This was my first Guatemalan experience, and it was wonderful. read more

Thought we'd check this place out and see if it was a good alternative to café kacao. Unfortunately it does not compare. The service is excellent so it's a great place to go to for good service and if you're super hungry and just need a quick bite to eat. However, their selection of specialty coffees is nothing special, and their regular black Guatemalan coffee is nothing ill get again. My husband hot the burrito and i got the machaca breakfast. Portions are much smaller than Cafe Kacao with about almost the same price tag. Im ok with less food as portions are much bigger than they should be at most restaurants anyway, but the price should be a lot less considering. The flavors were also just blah. Nothing special. Anyway, the service was excellent and we had a fine time. Establish was quaint and easy to have a co conversation . No wait when we arrived at 9am on a Wednesday. But wont be coming back in favor of other breakfast spots. read more

Great place for brunch. Started with the Santa's Cookies coffee drink. Pro tip, let the cookies on top melt in the coffee, it's like drinking liquid cookies. Also got the tres leches concha for table. I am not a tres leches fan, but this did not taste like tres leches at all. Just enough liquid to dip the concha in without the concha being soggy, and a nice Nutella flavor. Great option for Guatemalan breakfast without the long wait of other similar restaurants in the area. read more

Went here for a weekday breakfast and it was worth the hype! The food was all incredible, staff was so nice, and it's a great location!

Let me start with the bad: Nothing. What was good? Kitschy, homey atmosphere -- buzzing on a weekend mid-morning. The service was great! Friendly, helpful, attentive. Started with a spicy mocha, which was exactly what you would hope for and expect. The spicy motuleno was really great. Cafe Antigua is always an exciting stop for some brunch. Got to invite a fellow Yelp Elite to try it for the first time and was so happy to share some yummy food. Cafe Antigua gets busy, so definitely be prepared to use the wait system that they have at their sister location Cafe Kacao. We came on the earlier side about 10, and we were able to be seated without waiting. Huge area, a lot bigger than Kacao, so definitely more seating immediately. As far as food, I tried something different this go round and had a machaca omelette which was fine. The asada is typically my go to, and I probably should have gone with that but I wanted to try something new. The machaca just was okay. Nothing too crazy flavorful. The beef wasn't memorable, but it still was a good meal overall. Their beans are amazing! The rest was good. My friend enjoyed her spicy montleno. Both lattes were also yummy! Definitely would suggest the salted caramel. The miss was actually the tres leches concha. I realllllllly wanted to like it. But it was SOOOOO dry. I mean, REALLY dry. Which was surprising since it's supposed to be tres leches right? But no, both the top and bottom portion was extremely dry. So I definitely wouldn't order again. 4 stars since the machaca was okay and was a complete pass on the tres leches concha, but everything else was good. read more

Pretty good food, but the place is a jam-packed madhouse. I ordered the largest item (the smothered burrito) and was slightly disappointed by it. This is a common occurrence for me though. The largest thing usually can't compete bite for bite with smaller items. Some bites were super imbalanced. Again, common occurrence with giant burritos. I also ordered it with avocado and it didn't come, which I didn't realize until I already left, so was partially my fault, but still sucks lol. read more

The best meal I had in OKC. Not a long wait on a Sunday morning (less than 10 minutes) with quick friendly service. I opted for the Machaca breakfast and it did not disapoint. The portion didn't seem large but it was the perfect amount. The warm tortillas were amazing with the eggs/ beef mixture. Looked like the breakfast burrito was a popular item and it was huge. It is now a three because the prices have increased, but not the quantity. The food is still good, no issue there. Visited here on a trip to OKC and the restaurant didn't disappoint! I went to the sister restaurant, Cafe Kacao, on my previous visit so I was excited to check this place out. The interior of the restaurant wasn't anything fancy, but it doesn't need to be. The food speaks for itself! The server seemed to be in a hurry but he still was very helpful in helping us decide what to order. He recommended the Machaca omelette so I got it. It was so incredibly tasty! I don't eat lard so I had whole black beans. They were kind of sour due to the cheese that was added. Not too salted either. The potatoes that the omelette came with were a bit on the plain side too. However, the omelette was delicious! I really loved it as well as the sauce on the side. It wasn't spicy at all, just all flavor. My husband got steak and eggs which tasted amazing too! We additionally tried the churros and it was so good too. Additionally, I tried a Cinnamon Dulce Latte which was absolutely divine. It was so creamy and had hints of caramel. We have eaten at Cafe Antigua for years. Their food is good, but this post is about the coffee, which on this visit was the star of the show. Antigua serves a custom roast by KILR coffee and it is outstanding. On a side note - They seem to be having issues with their waitlist. A visit on Friday took over an hour to be seated when we were number 2 on the list AND we were still on the list after finally asking and subsequently being seated. They were not super busy. Adding to my prior review where I had breakfast, this is my first time having lunch here and it was amazing - their tilapia dish with rice was out of this world! Incredibly delicious, and very flavorful with their chili/hot sauce. Their corn (?) soup was also incredible. Also their beverages are on point, including the horchata, red fruit flavored Aqua Fresca (forgot the name), and limeade. Service was very prompt and attentive. I came here for the first time this past Sunday for brunch with my friend and I'm shocked how I haven't been here before! I have known about this spot for a while and am a huge fan of Cafe Kacao, so I knew I would love the food here. I appreciate how this place isn't as jam packed so early for brunch. Unlike Cafe Kacao, my friend and I didn't even have to put ourselves on the waitlist, but instead did a walk-in around 9 am. We were sat immediately and I would say that the crowd started to pick up around 10 am. The ambiance is standard - kind of similar to Cafe Kacao but less hyped up with the decorations. Food: *Mosh* this was a delicious sweet/cinnamony porridge bowl - the only complaint I had and I did address this with the server was the cheese cloth used to squeeze the oats through left strings in my food! I had to keep picking them out of my mouth....other than that the mosh was delicious! *Motuleno* This is one of my favorites from Cafe Kacao, and I got it again here at Cafe Antigua - same flavors, same quality of food - very tasty! I love the spicy green sauce poured over the top. I ordered my eggs over hard for this dish of tortillas smothered in beans, feta cheese, sauce, and tortillas on the side. *Concha Tres Leches* My friend ordered this dessert and I tried a bite. I was a bit disappointed about how dry the concha was. We expected it to be drenched in tres leches to give it the same feel as tres leches cake. Drink: Matcha Latte with Almond milk - Okay, I am a matcha snob, and this spot serves quality matcha! Great amount of caffeine and wonderful flavor as well with just the right amount of sweetness! Came here with some friends and we all enjoyed our meal. Seating is a little cramped but it's a popular place and they are trying to seat as many as possible, so be prepared for that. Went here for breakfast on an unusually warm November Saturday morning. A friend arrived at 8:15 to get a table for our party of 4. It was a wise move. The dining room was about a third full when we arrived but was completely full when we left at 10 am. I have been here for lunch before but not breakfast. I usually rate breakfast on pancakes and bacon. However they had no pancakes and a side of bacon cost more than I wanted to pay ($5). Thus, I ordered the Belgian waffle. It arrived as described and pictured in the menu. The staff accommodated my request for no powdered sugar but could not find any sugar free syrup. The waffle was light and airy. It's delicate texture was just right for the accompanying banana slices, strawberry slices, and berry flavored yogurt. However, that same texture soaked up syrup quickly, so I didn't use much syrup to avoid soggy waffle pieces. My dining companions ordered omelets and a specialty coffee drink. They both agreed it was delicious. The service was attentive but grew more sparse as more patrons entered the dining room. There is some on-street parking but I recommend parking in the office building lot across the street or in the neighborhood on 20th St. read more

Blown away by the atmosphere in Cafe Antigua! The food was delicious (I had the Carne Asada), and wow! The steak was so so so tasty and tender, and I especially loved the green onion bulb, jalapeño and the refried beans. The espresso coffees were such a delight, smooth and very tasty with no bitter coffee taste that you get in some other espresso coffees (Cafe Mocha & Salted Caramel). Their barista is top notch! I had the machaca omelette, beef was a tad dry, but the sauce on the side was so good, potatoes were great, and the beans were my favorite. Hubby had the burrito and I will be ordering that next time because it was so good, or maybe we will split one because it's MASSIVE. I was in desperate need of brunch, and was in the mood to try something new. My husband suggested Cafe Antigua, and I was willing to investigate. When we first walked in we were greeted by very friendly staff and seated immediately. There were almost no people in the restaurant, but it was only 0800. Don't you worry come 0845-0900 the place was PACKED! Go early if you don't want to wait. I got the chilaquiles and I knew immediately it was the correct decision. I can't describe it other than all the flavors and textures worked together flawlessly. Our waiter, Dani, was excellent and very attentive. Once I finished my water and in the next second a random waiter popped out of now where with a new fresh water! Amazing. A decent sized restaurant with plenty of space, but I do imagine if you go later on a Saturday you will have to wait a little. Great place to check out. Put it on your list. read more
