Angelo's plays no games and is up there with NEPAs best pizza, in my book, they are number one. Their regular pizzas are good, but the sweet sauce is where the magic is at. My picture is a mini thick sweet, and that's exactly how you order it. Calling Angelo's is a journey, they are operating off of a single land line so you usually have to call 2, 3, or seriously on busy nights or a Friday during lent 20+ times. From there you tell them the size, crust type (regular or thick), sauce type (regular or sweet) and then any toppings. Be prepared to wait at least 30 mins, but in many cases over an hour. While this sounds like an awful experience, it's certainly worth it. This pizza incredible. Last time I stopped by it was cash only, but there's an ATM. When you go in, there's a counter up front and a cooler stocked with drinks. The space has a few tables, but most people are doing takeout. Angelo's, while it's not easy, I love you! read more

Really happy with my pizza, got a half and half sweet and normal sauce pepperoni medium and was impressed with how good it was. Probably one of the best pizza places in Wilkes-Barre. The original... one of the best. Sometimes you want their square sometimes the round. Can't beat a plain well done, well maybe sweet sauce and onions. Every pie and topping combo to make you smile, and full. The place is packed in the evenings on the weekend. Never used the bathroom, but the rest of the place is clean so they're probably clean too. The best pizza I've had in a 20 mile radius. I don't like pizza. I think it's for little toddlers with macaroni and cheese tastebuds. I want to see what all of the hubbub is about, so I've been going from pizza place to pizza place to find a pizza that I actually enjoy for the past few months. That being said, Angelo's is the first place I can honestly say that I would seek out their pizza again. A friend of mine told me of this place and how I "need to get the sweet sauce". I ordered a regular with sweet sauce (I try not order with toppings on my first try of the place). Their plain, boring pizza had me salivating at first bite. My 2 year old son ate two slices and cried when I went to put the rest away. I am shocked that I sat there and enjoyed it so much. The crust was crunchy. The pizza had a slight flop (kind of sad about that since I think it was due to me taking 20 minutes to sit down and eat it). The sauce was seasoned beautifully and surprisingly NOT sickening after eating a few pieces in a row. The taste was all there and fantastic. Let me make myself clear, the pizza is absolutely great and deserves five stars. It's a Wilkes-Barre staple and it never disappoints. The only reason I gave it less than five stars is due to the seating, and order time. Due to the popularity and the size of their kitchen / staff, if you want to call and pick up an order it will probably take you twenty minutes to get through and at least an hour and a half until you can come pick it up. They're always busy and they have enough seating for about thirty people at max. The customers that sit down to eat are almost exclusively young adults and teens, so they can be a bit rowdy. Have not had Angelo's pizza since I was a young girl growing up in the area, but it was convenient last night and I decided to give it a try. What a mistake! Horrible pizza! I ordered the regular thin crust with half mushrooms and half onions. Crust was very dry and way too much flour on bottom and on crust. Might as well have been an unsalted cracker. The sauce, cheese, and toppings were very skimpy. Canned mushrooms and onions that tasted like they were dehydrated onion flakes soaked in water and then sprinkled on the pizza. If this is their pizza on a consistent basis I don't understand why anyone would ever be a repeat customer. I should have kept my fond childhood memory in tact. Reasonable price but since the pizza was almost inedible it was a complete waste of money. I would rather pay $5.00 more for a pie that I enjoyed. Never again. read more

They have definitely gotten slammed since being reviewed by "the prez" but the service is still sweet and efficient for the most part. I love that they sell Lionshead bottled sodas also.
