Went on a Friday during lent....probably a mistake. Tons of take out orders going on. We were seated there and waited over an hour for our pizza. It's unique I'll give you that. I just don't see the hype. I know this is sacrilege, but I like Pizza Hut better. Because of the business I felt like the pizza was under cooked. As a kid Andy's was a TREAT! Now some 60 years later I returned for some very sorry pizza, crowds aside. The cheese was watery/soupy, velveeta like, sauce this side of pink watery ketchup, and the crust more doughy than one would want or expect. The sausage on one of our trays was tasteless and grey...very unappealing and totally unItalian for this area. Our meal was VERY disappointing. Going 'down the line' to the Old Forge/Pittston area yields a plethora of tasty pizza joints. I advise traveling a bit more to get some truly representative area pizza. This pizza place has very many different pizza's to choose. The cheese they use is a creamy blend, so don't ask for extra cheese, it will run off your pizza. This is a cash only business, just keep that in mind. They are very busy and you have to keep calling to place an order. They will take orders early for later in the week pickup. So, if you know your ordering, get your order in early. Hours are 5-9 I think, but will start answering phone after 4. There is sitting inside and a small bar area. They've been serving up the same great, unique pizza for many decades. I'm in my 50s and my parents would take us there on many weekends. The crust is a bit different from a typical pizza, and the cheese is, I believe, mostly high quality deli American and it melts into the sauce in just an amazing way. Coming back from vacation we did a stop in Florence, SC to Southern Hops Brewery. We mentioned to the Bartender Aaron that we were from this area and he said he was too. He asked if we've had ANDYS PIZZA before. We told him every Saturday we try a new pizza place, and we'd add it to our list to try. As soon as we got home we called ANDYS. When I called on the phone I asked to try a plain pizza and asked what is your best "other type" of pizza (speciality pizza). So they offered to make a SAMPLER PIZZA. A little bit of every type of their "other pizza". Say what??? This is the holy grail of pizza in my opinion. They were all delicious! The crust and dough was very soft and fresh, and the styles were great. Our favorites were Big Mac, Meatball, Chicken Wing, and Taco. Check out the picture to see all. We loved it so much we've already been back. I wish more places had this kind of service and did Sampler Pizzas. My favorite pizza in town. Andy's Pizza is most definitely a local staple, and you don't want to be the one customer at the bar who requests a menu. The place has been around since 1945 & the cabinet behind the bar has been there since it's opening, and the restaurant stays in the family. The owner, Andy's daughter, came out and chit chatted with us and shared some fantastic stories that come along with being the owner of such a locally adored business, and reminisced with all the locals at the bar about their lives as they've all been so intertwined. 72 years, and the recipe hasn't changed! I'd been warned that my dislike of cheese may prevent me from liking the pizza, so it was surprising to me just how much I liked it. Of course, others have pointed out that the pizza is unique...it's unlikely you've ever had pizza like it or ever will again. The crust is thick, but not too doughy, to accommodate the heavy toppings and the cheese on there is some sort of blended, gooey concoction you've never encountered that ends up combining with the sauce and making up an incredibly flavorful, messy, mind-blowing pie!! I added some garlic salt and red pepper flakes, but that was more out of habit, since it doesn't need anything else. It was so good, the leftovers were my number one choice for pizza the next morning! Reheat is less runny and just as tasty. (On a side note, as a non-local, I pick up pizza and eat it with my hands like a barbarian. Locals eat with a fork and knife, but I still had to do it my way, since the fork just slows down the shoving pizza in my face process!!) read more

This is a well established Pizza Joint. It is also a local favorite. The cheese is total different cheese, from a basic mozzarella that u are used to. It is not stringing, but oozes, which in my opinion, is a processed cheese, and does taste like it. I myself did not care for the non mozzarella cheese taste, but a rather cheez whiz taste. OK, pizza is a personal taste. Some people like thin crust NY style, some like thicker Old Forge style. Andy's is different from both. Since I grew up on it, Andy's is special. Ooey gooey cheese mixture heaped on a crust that defies duplication (some claim that they use beer in the batter, no one knows). Best non-sicilian pizza in the area. It is a must have whenever I get a chance to be in the area. The servers are EXTREMELY rude.....be ready to deal with that....but the pizza will not disappoint.
