March 23,2024 on another road trip, this time for the day...and Angelo's was on my YELP! list of places needing to visit and this is what directs me on my route for the day...US19 N with a detour thru Aripeka and Hernando Beach. If your ever out this way it is real Florida...Weeki Wachee to Inglis. Then to Dunnellon and Inverness. What a nice drive with the top down. Time for lunch and needing a pizza fix. On my way I had past two other YELP! destinations but they had people waiting and no bar area. Burger places. I was so relieved to see it was not very busy time, 1:30. I believe this is more of a dinner venue than pizza joint. I saw they had slices ready for service so two were on my list and a bud light. I did sit at the bar thought there would be someone tending it but it was too early for that. While waiting for the slices I had a chance to take everything in and it is a really nice layout. Slices arrived and didn't disappoint, thin and crispy and the most tasty sauce. Even the crust had a special something I'm not sure it was. Over all the pie there is worth the trip. If in the area and needing a few quick slices, this is the spot. Give them try, peace. read more

On travel for work, try to support local restaurants. This place wouldn't survive anywhere where there's competition. I placed an online to go order with wait time of 30min. Get called 25 min later with it will be another 45min. I should have cancelled, but said sure. Went at the new time "my pizza is in line to be cooked". Another 20min. Get it home and it was wrong, overcooked, and the tasted bad, like bad cheese. Was hoping the salad would be saving grace, a box of iceberg chunks, not fresh tomatoes and two cucumber slices. I should have bailed after the near fight with another patron and the owner as the patron was leaving because they had waited 90min and pizza still wasn't done. This isn't the first time I've got pizza at this place, but it's the first time I'm Yelping about a new one we tried. I have had about 30 pizzas from Angelo's over the years both take out and dine-in. Their pizza has always been consistently delicious. The dough recipe is the same from pizza to pizza. The ingredients are high quality. If you want close to a NY slice then this place will satisfy you. If you are looking for a slice that tastes like one of NYC pizza greats you won't get exactly that, but you'll like the Angelo version. We got the cheese NY Style XL and The Boss with Kalamata Olives (which is the way to go if you like olives on you pizza). The cheese pie didn't disappoint us. Awesomeness as usual. A great foldable slice. The XL feeds 3 with lunch for 2 the next day. The Boss was a fist for us and we will order it again. The Kalamata olives were satisfyingly briny, so much more flavor that canned black olives and a must try for olive on pizza lovers. The Boss also has meatball (thin large slices) and pepperoni slices which compliment the overall flavor. Their sauce is a traditional red that is light and crisp. I am floored I have not come to this place sooner. I was suggested this place and took advantage of coming in as soon as I got the chance. When we walked in we were welcomed by Jacob who sat us down at our table. He was courteous and friendly while seating us. Our waitress (I forgot her name that's on me) was very prompt in getting our orders. I got the pepperoni calzone and my boyfriend got the chicken Parmesan. They let you pick which pasta is used instead of just using regular spaghetti (that was an option as well) which was great because he prefers penne for the dish. The calzone is my new favorite. The cheese was what sold me. It was perfectly melty and noticeable fresh. I think this is going to be my new favorite Italian restaurant in this area. read more

The one thing that has stayed consistent is their pizza it still has that "authentic" New York style and taste we all love. However, the food portion has gotten smaller & the ingredients used are mediocre. The latest take out order we received had the wrapped bread placed INSIDE the Penne pasta. We ordered takeout for the first time. Two pizzas and two orders of calamari. For 4 of us, we could have gotten less...definitely less calamari. We all had leftovers. The pizza was fantastic. So much more flavor than the hut or no's. The calamari was a little on the greasy side, so we will all skip that next time. The parking lot had no lights and the spaces were not all clearly marked. This made it hard and dangerous to pick up food at night. The wait staff were all wearing masks, but the guy at the front counter, who you have to talk to in order to pick up food or get a table was not wearing a mask. I understand some people can't wear masks for health reasons, not sure if that was the case here, but he will come into contact with a lot of people, which is an issue. read more

We've always been pleased with their pizza and decided to get some take out. I got an order of their Calamari appetizer. My wife had seen an order a co-worker had and thought it would be something I would enjoy. While it was a healthy sized portion, that's about all I can say good about it. The advertise it as being "flash-fried light golden" but in my order, the rings were white, without a hint of brown. To their credit, the whole calamari were properly cooked, but that's where the goodness ends. Apparently the kitchen ran out of salt as there didn't seem to be any used in preparing my calamari. While the "house-made marinara" sauce was pretty good, the portion size was much too small. The container was about half full; they need to provide twice as much. Do you like NY pizza? Not just NY style pizza, but actually pizza that comes from NY? I lived in NY for 7 years and ate pizza in every single borough and this place has got it down! No, it's not actually NY pizza, but it's the closest I have experienced. I live in Orlando and was visiting my father in law and they recommended this place. This building needs to be painted bright red, so everyone can see it. If it wasn't for my in-laws I would have drove right by and I'm so glad I didn't! You can order by the slice or by the pie and when you do it goes in their pizza oven, which is the first thing you see when you walk in. Everything about this restaurant screams NY Italian. The smell, the dining area, the pizzeria and even the staff. It actually reminded me of a very specific NY pizzeria/restaurant in Long Island. I ended up getting spaghetti and meatballs and was not disappointed. Very flavorful and tender. The garlic knots are incredible also! The service was slow, but the food and staff made up for it. Drove out to Angelo's from Land O Lakes today for a nice road trip. I have to say I was disappointed with my lunch. My phone at the time was dead and I was unable to take photos of our food. We ordered the Greek Salad and a Large "Boss" pizza. The salad was 10.99 and was very small (In a large soup bowl), though it did taste good. Our pizza was the big disappointment. It was meatball, pepperoni and kalamata olives (don't ask me why the olives). The meatballs were like long slices of what I assumed was a meatball. It was not appealing at all. I did like the crust and sauce (a little overdone though) and the olives were overbearing in taste. I personally am not a meat lover but this time, I let my hubby order the meats. I would have preferred a vegetarian pizza but that will be another day (maybe). This is a quaint restaurant in downtown Inverness and has the potential for much more. read more
