This nail salon is average. The person who did my nails was clearly trying to upsell me. She was borderline judgmental but at a certain point I found it funny. I had an appointment for a regular mani pedi. When we sat for my manicure, my nails were already short and she said "you don't want them longer?" (ie: tips) she tried to get me to have a gel instead and said "nobody does regular manicures anymore". During the manicure she cut my cuticle too much and it was bleeding (and still sore a few days later). The service was fine, my nails look okay, but nothing spectacular to comment on. read more

I've previously been very satisfied with my manicures here and have been coming for years so it pains me to write this. I went in recently to have a color gel manicure done and picked a sparkly color (Perfect Match #209). I believe Jackie did my nails and they looked great until the VERY next morning. I woke up to four nails with huge cracks in the gel paint. I went in that day to have them fixed, which they did although I hated having my nail beds filed down again, two days in a row. The next day four more cracked nails!! I was baffled. I'm not sure if this is a result of an inferior gel product, or the application process or curing - but I'm so disappointed with my nails. Only one week later, all but two of my nails have cracks in the paint and the gel is peeling. I had gotten them done ahead of thanksgiving and now they're totally ruined :( read more

Ok, so I made an appointment on Friday for Saturday. Two days after my visit I returned because my Shalac polish chipped off two nails, not upset however I waited two weeks to return for a polish change to clear (prime reason why I'm not getting them done anymore). I made an appointment on Friday for first thing Saturday morning. The shop Sir took my appointment and I was VERY clear on the services I needed, he repeated my request and he asked what time I wanted to come in. I asked what time they opened he stated 10 am I said ok let's make it 10:15 and so that Chong would be ready for me. I repeated "Ok, polish change and a 10 minute shoulder massage?" He says "No pedicure?" I said "No, polish change and 10 minutes massage". he goes "Hmmm, 10:30 come in at 10:30. There goes my Scooby ears, here we go. I arrive on time for my appointment, Sir greets me upon entering with his cheery smile, when I tell him my name and I have an appointment his smile turns to a smirk and scans his appointment book. Oh yeah, when I entered, the next tech for a client pops up and stands at the desk, ready. He asks what I needed done and he starts to flip pages and scans pages up and down, I'm looking with him. His fingers goes up and down and flip, flip. He returns to the 20th and says I must have spoken to someone else, I said "No, sir, you're the only guy in here and you know I spoke to you" then he states Someone, took off". A lady comes in and he immediately looked over me and ushered her off to the tech that was standing there waiting at attention. He returns to the desk looks over his appointment book, I said "Sir, there's not even an erase mark quit playing with me (I said this calm, softly and with a smile). I wasn't gonna go back and forth, my CASH money originated at the same bank as other "people" As I fling my hair and sashayed out, he hurries behind me and said " Ok, you come back at 11:30?" I didn't even look back. Again, I wave my white flag, I just can't with these nail spa/shops anymore. Hey folks, what's with the ATM machines in nail shops in this part of the globe? The people were nice enough, but everything was really rushed. I needed a fill on my UV gel. I asked the technician to cut my nails a little shorter. She took nail clippers to them, which is not the way you do it, ever. Also she rushed through it so fast that one of my nails was significantly shorter than the others. So short that there was no way to fix the fact that she also cut it crooked and also shorter in the middle than on the ends. I don't like to give negative reviews because I know that small businesses really do try, but it was pretty upsetting. I asked for French tip polish and she put so many layers of white on the tip. By the time I got home and looked at my nails, my nail bed looked like a hillside, well multiple hills, and at best, it looked like press on nails. read more

Angel's has been bought by a new owner, so I've waited a few weeks to write an update so they could get any transitional kinks out (Google that). I have to disagree with some of the latest reviews. The two times I've had a Brisa gel manicure they were meticulously performed procedures. In fact just now, Nina the manicurist made me reconsider my appointment after work, because she took so much care I realized I should have scheduled more time. I've been coming here on and off for years. As I do not get my nails done often. Only on special occasion. The last time I came I got acrylic dip and within two weeks my nails started popping off. That's another story though. I went in yesterday to have a regular pedicure and gel manicure. It felt very rushed. My toe nails are sub par at best. They weren't cut correctly at all or filed correctly. Very jagged on the corners. Secondly, the manicure... cuticles were not cut enough. Now for the gel manicure... my cuticles were barely touched. Nails barely filed. The polish was laughable. There were so many areas on my nails that weren't even covered with pink polish! It was insane. I was so fed up I just wanted to pay and get out of there! While checking out the women at the desk asked to see my nails. She wasn't happy with how they looked. She asked me to step aside and took photos of them and then asked if she could redo them. So, I obliged. She cut my cuticles, filed, and took the polish off and reapplied it. She took her time and paid attention to detail. Sadly, my nail polish bubbled up and the photo attached is what I was left with. Disappointing in an understatement. I will never spend a dime at this location again. I have recommended people here and have even brought my daughter in. The irony is I'm in two wedding parties this weekend... My daughter went to have acrylic tips done for her Prom, 3 hours and $85 later, her nail were not what she had requested. They gave her short length, the workmanship was poor and her nail started falling off less than a week after they were applied. I called the owner she told us to come in charged an additional $35 the shape was not the shape that was requested, the person doing the nail came popping up to answer the phone and take payments. I had to remind her that we had to leave by a certain time. The polish started chipping within 2 days and a nail popped off by 3rd day. My daughter has had tips before and never had such an horrible experience. Needless to say we will never go back. I agree with the other reviews that they rush and do a sloppy job. I had Abby a few nights ago and she was extremely rude and refused to paint my nails properly. She insisted I tilt my hand a certain way (which was uncomfortable for me) and I told her several times she was not painting my entire nail due to this and she refused to fix. I also hated the fact that I was unable to sit back fully in the chair because I had to lean in to accommodate Abby. Other spas actually provide a pillow, and this place clearly doesn't value the clients. It was funny when I checked out and paid for my gel mani and gave Abby a 10% tip (she honestly deserves nothing) and she decided to not say goodbye to me. Classy! I had been here a few times before after stopping by target but I'm done. I'll stick to my regular place in Shelton. Even if I have to wait an hour to be seen elsewhere, I know I'll receive better service than this joke of a "spa" read more

I was taken aback by the price and then it was explained that she removed some callus - I never asked for anything additional and no additional charges were explained to me. When I was clearly frustrated the manager made me feel awful for not leaving a tip - so I tipped $10. $50 for a very simple, little sloppy, pedicure. Never going back. read more

One of the worst experiences ever at a nail salon. I had an appointment with Bella, but she was busy so another girl started my appointment. My pedicure was rushed and sloppy, the nail tech had to re-paint my toes because of how terrible my french pedi looked. I should have used that as a red flag for what was to come for my nails. For my nails, a french powder gel, the nail tech was sloppy and clearly did not know what she was doing. The shape was awful and the nail looked like dust was under the gel on every single nail. When I brought it to her attention, she told me that's how the powder gel looks when applied. Which was false, Bella had just done my nails with no issue and the nail was glossy and clear. She attempted correct the nails by applying more powder gel, it just made my nails look worse. After being in the salon for over 2 hours, I just wanted to leave. Clearly, that nail tech was not experienced enough and should not have been there to service anyone. I had them remove all of the powder gel and I left with bare, poorly shaped, and weak nails. Management wanted me to come back the next day, but after that awful experience that was the last thing I wanted to do. I walked in with nice healthy nails previously done by Bella, to walking out with with horrible nails with nail powder gel all over my hands. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Sadly the services were not good. I have issues with ingrown toenails on my big toes. Normally when I get a pedicure the issue is taken care of. The day after I received the pedicure, I noticed that the sides of my toes were red and irritated. When I looked closer to my surprise I noticed that the side of my toenails were not trimmed correctly thereby having to try and fix them myself. I also got my very first gel nail manicure. This is not up to par either. My cuticles were left rough and during the manicure I was continually asked if I wanted 10 minute massage for $15. I spent $58 on a pedicure and $35 on a gel manicure. Thank goodness I didn't agree to get the massage. It's great that they have an ATM with no fees but not great that they advertise how much gratuity you should give. I won't go there again. read more

I came in for a fill and a pedicure. My pedicure was fine, but my fill is awful. The nails were misshapen and very thick. I wanted a design like what I had...marble on 2 nails and one accent nail with glitter polish. The nail tech started painting a black flower on my nail. I told her that wasn't what I wanted. She then made some design, which was not what I'd asked for. Needless to say, I finally just had her put something on because, after 4 tries, I was fed up. I have polish all over my cuticles and a repair that feels like it is about to fall off...6 hours after getting it. I had to file my nails to fix the unevenness. Quite frankly, I want my money back so that I can get this awful fill/manicure off and redone elsewhere. read more

Overpriced, subpar service. They rush their way through and the quality suffers. You're lucky if you can go a week without nails chipping. I had the best UV gel set done EVER! Andy was great. I am so glad I went there. The staff is wonderful I even ended up getting a hydra facial. My skin is so clean and soft as a baby. Very clean in the spa, with most tools being taken out of the plastic for every customer. Massage Chairs are blocked off every other one to ensure social distancing. Spa pedicure was great, and included a 10 minute foot massage. I think prices are a little higher than other salons in the area. read more

Not happy, this place gets 1 star for the massage chair during my pedicure and it's actually really nice inside. Way too gentle and barely did anything. I could have done what this person did alone at home. I enjoy getting pedicures, very relaxing and I spend a lot of time on my feet. With that being said when I get a pedicure I want the nail technician to really get in there and clean up my feet. This place literally only spent 20 minutes on my feet that's with the massage. She didn't even let my feet soak she went straight to trimming which would have been fine if she would have done a better scrubbing job later on. For 25 bucks plus a 5 dollar tip I can get a much better pedicure elsewhere. I will not be back but I am still searching for the best place in Stratford to get my pedicures. I got a manicure with regular polish and let it dry for 30 minutes. On the way home it completely smudged. At this point the spa was closed and I couldn't get back there for two days because I had to work. When I went back the man at the desk told me it was my fault. I've been coming here for about a year and some change now (I think) lol. I was on google looking for a new nail salon that does a good job and that I can build a relationship with. I actually found Angels Nails from googling and ended up reading reviews from Yelp. After trying a lot of the other salons & them not reaching my standards i Went and tried Angels I've been a dedicated costumer since! I love Andy (OWNER) (my nail tech) & the service he provides and as you can see he ALWAYS hooks my nails up. There prices are a little more than most salons but you won't be disappointed. I always recommend girlfriends to go there. Hopefully this persuades others to go read more

Andy did a fantastic job with my (previously hideous) nails! He created a beautiful ombré design with the powdered gel ($55). I will definitely purchase this again, I love it! I also received the Milk and Honey spa pedicure service, which was nice. I don't think I'll get that service again, since it was quite expensive ($58) but if you enjoy hot towels, stones, scrubs, and other lotions on your legs/feet then I recommend considering it.
