Before you have work done with them, I challenge you to try to get a hold of a person in their…read moreoffice. When you can't do it, ask yourself what kind of service you will get if there is any kind of problem. My insurance company's estimate assumed that Safelite would replace the rear windshield. I didn't know one glass vendor from another, so I was fine with that. Safelite told my body shop that they would need to do their work before any of the body shop's work could take place but they couldn't give an appointment for 2 weeks. So the car sat. When Safelite showed up at the body shop to do the work, they said they couldn't do it because I hadn't paid my deductible in advance. This was the first I had heard of that. In fact, I thought my deductible was going to the body shop. The technician from Safelite called me to ask for a credit card, but I didn't get the message until later in the day and, by then, he was busy with his other jobs. At that point, I started to have more questions about how payment would work because my insurance company had given me the full money for the repair and said I would need to pay the body shop and Safelite directly (as opposed to the vendors billing the insurance company, the way they normally do). I wanted to get an actual estimate from Safelite of the full amount I would need to pay them (to make sure it matched what my body shop said my insurance adjustor said it should cost). I tried for hours and hours to reach a person who worked in the Stamford office. It became a kind of game. Couldn't be done. I managed to find some phone numbers that rang and rang, with no place to leave a message. Best I could do. There was no way to talk to a person. Then I started reading the reviews of poor service, and I cancelled. The reviews say that when the service was poor, people were stuck. I ended up using the glass vendor that my body shop normally works with and whom they trust. It was $130 more and worth it. If I had gone that way in the beginning, my car could have been fixed in 3 days. (I do want to mention that Safelite's technician who left the voicemail (and would have been the person working on my car, if I had paid the deductible) was very nice. When I called him back, he answered and was as helpful as he could be, but he, obviously, couldn't help with billing questions and he didn't know if he would be assigned my car again if I rescheduled. I needed to talk to someone in the office for billing, and Safelite has purposely made that next to impossible.)
