What an unexpected WOW! Don't get many of them these days. We bought a new car and day 3 got a crack. Just one of those bad luck years. Called the dealership and they were charging $3000 for the replaced out of which insurance would only cover 1000$. Safelite was my insurances choice and partner and out of the many many worse to horrible reviewed locations that I found I originally picked the best rated safelite location in White Plains NY (Still a concerned low rating). Went to them to get the crack filled and they managed to get the inch long crack even wider to the point that it had to be replaced. Didn't think much of it cause it could happen. Then tried to call them for a week, including my insurance to see if they managed to get the original brand OEM windshield to replace. No one picked up or replied. After a week of calling morning, noon, and night I gave up. I called Mr. Glass of Glen Cove Long Island. A little out of my element being a NY city boy but it was a 40-45 min drive. The same as White plain and probably the same if you were going from uptown to downtown in nyc. I just never heard of Mr. Glass. Who the hell is he? Well...... I'm so glad I took that leap out of my comfort zone and called him. Not only was the communication was instant and perfect but the concern was genuine and honest. In order for my car to still have warranty they demanded it be an original windshield. Mr glass not only made sure it was the original that came from the dealership but he also gave me all the right information so that the dealership can't deny it was an item bought from them and replaced. Don't be stupid guys....you can go to safelite cause they advertise and seem like they have their shit together BUT THEY DON'T! I was sitting at safe light for the crack to be filled when a client came in complaining about the windshield leaking water in the rain. Is that the kind of shitty half ass job you want on your car? Mr. Glass did an A1 job, I was there for 3 hours in which is replaced the windshield and calibrated it. YES, they Calibrate your care if you have a windshield that is hooked up with sensors and cameras. I know people reading this don't understand but others that do know me will. I'm SUPER picky for my car and dog. They get the best and I will climb mountains if necessary to make sure the job is done right. Mr. Glass of Glen Cove passed all my checks for quality and concern to customers service and detail to work. In the end do what makes you happy. Just hope to god that you don't waste 3-4 hours waiting for your windshield to be done and then have to go back cause the job was half ass. Make the trip thats not the end of the world and get it done right the first time at Mr. Glass. There is a panera and other things you can walk to and make a low key morning out of and wait. I did that with my Dog Maya. We walked 3 blocks away and got a great breakfast at Panera while my car was being worked on. FYI Mr. Glass also was able to make sure that I paid nothing for my replacement for the original windshield. (It also depends on what kind of insurance you have). read more
