She has the biggest attitude and treats others very disrespectfully because things didn't go her way! No one really understands how hard these rescues work for animals. To read comments like 'where is this place even at" is so disturbing. You act like you're going shopping for some commodity. Many rescues use fosters or don't want to list their location to protect the animals. Their job is to PROTECT the animals - and no I'm sorry, you will not all be the right home or qualify. So if you don't get the dog you wanted, you might be fully just absorbed in your own emotions but you are not the one doing the tireless work here for the animals. Royce has been helping animals for years! She like many other rescues are amazing, the real super stars and most people don't have any glimpse into what that daily hard work is like. It's a labor of love and it's to help animals. read more

Yelp readers, understand that my ONLY ISSUE with the rescue is this: I was treated unprofessionally by Ms. Royce which caused me to write my initial review. My second reply or update was because Ms. Royce lied about the events that she claimed took place and then made false accusations where I have my application to prove it. I have tried contacting this rescue several times. I have called and left a message. I have emailed them 4 times and tried to submit an online application but it wouldnt submit. I was finally able to attach photos and completed the whole application again and it would not submit. I have emailed them again to let them know what dog I was interested in. I received one auto reply that said an application must be filled out. OK but if you cant submit one, and no one answers you, how do you adopt a dog or express interest in one? I would think they would put more care into getting these animals homes, but they do nothing. read more

I cannot tell you how blessed we are to have come across Angels and Paws I saw a post on Facebook about a dog " Macy" who was In Need of adoption. I immediately filled out the application which is detailed from the long list of questions, photos and video of the home Adopting from Royce is a rigorous process . She wants to make absolutely sure the adoption is a good fit. I have two other lap dogs with one being a little possessive of me. Royce and her sister drove Macy to our home to meet our dogs . They stayed for a long time to watch the behavior of the three dogs and also taught me how dogs " size each other up " In the end we passed with flying colors and could not be happier with our new girl Macy Thank you Angels and Paws and most of all for Royce and all the unsung heroes who sacrifice so the unwanted dogs can once again find a place they can call home read more

Where is this place even at?!? The address took us to some random park and not even the park attendant had any idea of where or what we were talking about when we mentioned this place. We drove around for 35 minutes trying to figure it out. The website is vague, doesn't post hours of operations and the phone number, which I tried like 3 times only rang repeatedly and went to a voicemail of a lady that did not identify that it was the right number or even the number for the shelter. Am I just calling a random person? Is this place real or in someone's backyard? Is it still open? If so, when? Please add more information to your site and give directions because the address says Haven Ave, but then says Alta Loma as the city (which took us to a park). Can you clear this up? I'd love to redo this review if I could actually find the place and visit it. read more

This place goes the distance! Spring 2011 my wife and I adopted a female pitbull through Angels N Paws Rescue. Filling out the adoption paperwork was easy. When I got word that Zoey (our lovable furball) was to be put to sleep because no one would adopt her, I made a commitment to give her a good home. Logistics of pulling off such a feat were the problem because AnPs is in California and I'm in Washington. Zoey was rescued within hours of being put down and through the hard work of the staff and their connections we had Zoey borded for a couple weeks in California before her road trip to Seattle, Washington. Zoey is such a loving dog with a gentle side that everyone loves. Without AnPs there would be many more pitbulls being put down because they are a strong breed and hard to adopt to good homes. Would I adopt from Angels N Paws again...you bet! read more

I have personally benefited from her rescue, she saved my dog Carter, a bait pittie, from being put to sleep. Her tireless work saves lives, a task that not everyone is cut out for. Regarding the bad review - That person is a murderer, a puppy flipper, and has no respect for life. Her review and words can never get to angels and paws because she is such a poor excuse for life. We arranged to have a sleep over with a pet advertised for adoption, and bought supplies to welcome this dog into our home, and then the foster parent pulled the rug out from underneath us at the last minute, stating that this dog needed to be around another dog. This stipulation was not mentioned anywhere in the advertisement, nor by Angels n Paws Rescue in my first conversation with them, nor at our initial visit, nor on the initial night the dog was supposed to come and they canceled. It was mentioned--by text message--the next day. For people who stress that the dog is a member of the family, they have zero regard for the feelings of the adoptive family. (They offered to help us find another puppy, after attachments were already created with the first, and spirits were crushed. Why would we allow our family the possibility of being hurt a second time?) Very unprofessional and unethical. We spent time teaching our two young children how to welcome the dog and make it feel at home. We had the children each get toys for the dog, and arrange their play room to accommodate the dog, and then we were told (again, by text message) that it wasn't going to be possible. I wish I could post the picture from our initial visit with the dog, where my little 2.5 year-old was holding a bowl of water up for the dog to drink. It seems that there was a major breakdown in the ethics of this adoption process, and the implications of such treatment by Angels n Paws is vast. Shouldn't the adoption process take into consideration the emotions of the adopting family? Shouldn't promises be kept? Shouldn't the adoption process include a level of professional conduct where bad news is delivered in person or over the phone? Does the adoption agency see itself simply as peddling a cheap product? read more

Zero stars. This agency is not actually interested in rehoming pets. Angels n Paws lists animals in the Seattle area, but once you have inquired and filled out their extensive application, you find out the animals are all in California. They say they have a "sister shelter" that they work with in Seattle and are willing to transport the dogs from CA to WA, but you will not get a firm date of transport. I was told they are very thorough and some of their adoptions can take months to finalize. I tried working with this agency for over two weeks, and after asking where we were in the process I was told they are "very busy". Once it seemed I had finally jumped through all their hoops and thoroughly addressed all of their concerns, including clarifying where I take my cat for his annual vaccines and emailing photos of my front and back yards, Royce Bordes "CEO" ultimatly denied my application saying if the Seattle contact Papken refuses to approve the application then "her hands are tied". When I raised the complaint that Papken never called me, she said she was told he did so "this is on you". I did not have any missed calls or voicemails from ANYONE trying to contact me for any interview or home check. I would advise hopeful new owners to not bother dealing with Angels n Paws unless you have plenty of time to waste. Update: This agency is very disorganized and can not keep track of who applies for what animals. read more

Very disappointed! I was VERY interested in adopting a puppy I found on a website. I called at least 3 times, completed an online application, sent an online interest form, and even directly emailed the owner, and as of today, 17 days from the 1st date I called, I have received NO response from anyone! My last voice message and email even specified to plz let me know if that puppy is no longer available so I can start looking elsewhere, and still I've heard nothing. My angel Annie lived on the streets and they took her in and showed her love and that not all people are heartless.They lovingly took care of her for months before they let me (anyone) take her home. Hi Royce B., Thank you for finally responding to me as I had not heard from Angels n Paws for a few weeks--one of my main issues. Pam never responded to me after I tried to explain about the vet. I told her that I had used the shot clinics at another vet as they are on Saturday which is more convenient, but she never responded to that text! If there was an issue about the amount of animals I have then Pam never mentioned that me at all as she just stopped responding period! That is what I meant about being unprofessional. Also, I spoke with my vet as they do have records of my female dog and they not only gave out information illegally to you, they gave out incorrect information. I already spoke with the vet about that, but, again since Pam decided not to respond again to me I guess it doesn't really matter anymore. I'm sorry as I really wanted to meet Lando as my mom and son really liked him--just wish you all were more professional. I have all the texts between Pam and I so if you would like to see how unprofessional she was in our communications I would be more than happy to share them with you. Royce is the Angel in Angels N Paws. She provided a perfect companion to me and the family. We recently had our 14 year Lab put down, and our other Lab was grieving terribly. Our adopted baby (Seamus, formerly Simba) saved the day. He was just as adorable as the photos. He has brought new love and life into our hearts and home. Royce was kind enough to drive to The OC to make the adoption possible and she did her due diligence in screening our home and our other pet to ensure we were all a fit. Indeed we are! We adopted sisters from Angels n Paws. First of all, we were impressed that they would not permit adoption of these two pooches separately, for I have never seen two dogs closer to each other than these two. And we have owned pooches all our lives! It was obvious that Royce, the owner, is a compassionate dog lover. She and her helper came to see us at our home to make sure we were a suitable family. As crazy as it sounds, my daughter's boyfriend came into the house holding a stray dog that he had found loitering out in front of our house. He thought he was bringing in one of the dogs we were planning to adopt who had inadvertently found its way outside. Instead, it was yet another stray dog. So, what happened? We adopted the two sisters Royce had brought over and Royce took home with her the stray found outside our house! We later learned that he had been adopted by a loving home, after the notices we had put up about the stray went unanswered. It was like that stray dog knew Royce was at our home and he came by for help! Anyway, we are ridiculously happy with our Zsa Zsa and Eva and think Angels n Paws is just wonderful! read more

Are there negative stars for this rescue because Angels N' Paws Rescue deserves them. Royce Bordes, and her shelter, whom I have not heard of until today should not be in this business. Let me explain. We are an emergency foster who took in a mom and nine puppies when they were transferred from an animal shelter and slated to be killed on 1/19/2011. They were transferred here to a wonderful local shelter whom we've been dealing with. After numerous escalating behaviors from the mother dog, we had her evaluated by two independent rehab centers for dogs, a friend of ours who is not only in the animal rehab business but is also a vet and the local humane society. Unfortunately, the mom failed every single aggressive behavior test. We kept her in our home despite ongoing destructive issues and aggression towards our own pets in the hopes that time would heal all. We were, unfortunately, wrong and once her puppies were weaned, decided with our experts and our wonderful rescue that there was no other recourse for the momma dog but to put her down, a horrible, heart-rending experience as our hope had always been to adopt her and rehabilitate her. However, this was not to be and we focused our energies on taking excellent care of her puppies. This morning, I received an email from Angels N Paws accusing me of murdering the mom dog. It escalated into a series of harassing emails from an obviously volatile, person who has no basis in reality or understanding. It seems Angels N Paws was the pass through shelter. They didn't want to have to take care of the mother dog and her eight puppies so they transferred her to another rescue (which was how we got her) and are now harassing and screaming at US because they don't agree with what we did. Angels N Paws has threatened us, sent us numerous letters and harassed us. We are contacting the local authorities and reporting this shelter. We went back and forth with this trying to decide if we should report them on Yelp and to the proper authorities; however, we realized that no one that unstable should have dogs much less dogs in need. read more

We recently adopted a dog from Royce and Angel n Paws. We can't say enough great things about her. She drove from Rancho Cucamongo to La habra with the dog we were debating to get and spent hours in our backyard so we could observe behavior with the rescue dog and our other dog (from another rescue 5 yrs ago). Royce was so sensitive to our other dog's needs and that it was a good fit. She was very particular about having the right fit for her rescue dog as well. She told us if at anytime..2 weeks from now, 3 months from now, 5 years from now...if it wasn't working out that she would take her rescuedog back. Royce has contacted me numerous times over the past 3 months to make sure all was going well. We just added to our fur family and found our forever friend Mikie aka Malcolm, from Angels N Paws Rescue,he is so wonderful we got him home and he fit right in like he had lived here his whole life. When we went to petsmart to see all the wonderful fur people that were looking for there new forever families we were so impressed with Angels N Paws Rescue, they were so warm and welcoming, there dogs were so friendly and were so happy to see everyone, you could tell that they were very loved by their foster mommies and daddies. It was so wonderful to see them actually sitting in the pens with their fur babies playing with them and loving on them. It was very heartwarming to see these rescue animals so loved, I knew we wanted to make one of these wonderful animals part of our family. My husband and I feel in love with a beautiful little Jack Russell Terrier named Malcolm, we brought our little chorkie we had rescued two years ago so that she could help us find her a new friend. We took Malcolm for a walk to see how Nano and Malcolm would get along, Malcolms foster mommy was so wonderful, she shared with us how he was at home filled us in on everything they knew about him, you could tell she really loved him and all of her little fur babies.
