Liver, dressing, collard greens and sweet potato pie. Muffin was hard.

Food tasted room temperature and dressing was slightly hard. A taste as if food was sitting uncovered and not in heat pans for several hours. I was surprised to see the liver soaked in gravy and only ate a little bit. No plates- Styrofoam plates only. Restaurant was clean and good customer service.

This is actually my second time here. Excellent food. I got the fries whiting, greens and sweet potatoes and cornbread muffin. They make everything fresh, so you do have to wait about 15-20 minutes for your food. I'm so full. It's only 5pm and I'm ready to pass out! Food coma. Green beans are good and so is the fried chicken. If I'm ever back this way, I will definitely stop back.

I've been to this Restaurant before but didn't find anything on the menu worth getting, today was different. I decided to get the salmon Patties with my two Choice of sides being Mac & Cheese with their locally loved candied yams which the Person taking my order help persuade me to get. To touch on that, the service was great they showed love for the food they prepared for every customer willing to come into the establishment and spend their hard earned money. Before I touch on the atmosphere of the place I want to dive into my review on the food. First the Mac and Cheese don't hesitate to show a little more love back there while cooking it, second the yaams were pretty inconsistent (some were hard some were soft) but the the flavor and taste was great! Lastly the Salmon Patties were Crispy and had a great Crunch but same as the Mac could use some more TLC. So to fully wrap this place up in whole it could use some more Love and care and that goes from the seasons in the food to making the inside of the establishment more modern and updated.

In the 1960s my father had an office in the small strip of stores across Carnegie from where Angie's is located, and I would stop at Hot Sauce William's from time to time, so I watched the slow progress of converting the building into Angie's, but it was worth the wait. Angie's tore the building down to the bare walls and rebuilt everything back to get what is essentially a new building with the same footprint. Walking in I was surprised by the stylish rustic decor, including hanging wood doors cand really cool looking ceiling fans create a casual, welcoming, but classy feel, not at all what I expected. The menu boards are on the wall and you order at the window to the right; note that this location of Angie's is cash free, so you have to have a credit card or an electronic payment method. I selected the Catfish Dinner with Candied Yams and Mac and Cheese as the sides to go. Since they cook the fish fresh it took about 7 minutes, and the fish smelled so good that I almost had to eat it right there. The Catfish were two large fillets, perfectly breaded and fried so that the fish was moist and tender inside with a crunchy crust perfectly seasoned. The baked Mac and Cheese was very good, tender noodles in a mild cheesy sauce. The Yams were incredibly tender and sweet, it could have been desert. The corn muffin was also good. Angie's serves incredibly delicious soul food at reasonable prices and they have a really nice dining room. Being located in Midtown on Carnegie means it is a great place to get outstanding food when heading to downtown or to the East Side.

This place has been redeemed in my opinion. I have tried to do business here at least 4 times but they were always busy and slow. However, I went there Saturday afternoon and to my surprise, there was NO Wait for a call- in order. Once before when I did Door Dash, my order was canceled about 1.5 hours later. I was waiting and waiting. Yesterday, I had the best baked chicken and dressing, Mac n cheese , and greens. OMG. I wished I had ordered one for yesterday and one for today and the best part was they gave me a cup of cranberry sauce without me asking for it. The only drawback was a cold corn muffin that was not so good and it was refrigerator cold. I even enjoyed the peach cobbler! It was a very good balance of peaches to crust. The true test will be on a Sunday take out order... can they deliver? I will let you know!

I don't think there's table service. The decor does not have artsy metals and hand blown glass accents. By the same way of thinking, every food truck and street food joint would be bad. Big Al's in Larchmere would be avoided and the Sokolowskis would have been closed decades ago. "Ashley" said nothing about the food, man! She had problems with containers and condiments! Restaurants are about the food! My experience with this place starts at work: a coworker was eating a mammoth sized portion of fettuccine Alfredo-looking stuff and I asked her where she got it. She said "Greedys" and pointed in the direction of the place. "I call ahead like 15 minutes and walk over to get it. This is like $10 and I can eat it for dinner too, there's so much You should try it. I go there twice a week, at least." Being a vegan on the east side is rough, and I'm the worst vegan ever, so when I cheat, I don't hold back. The next day I was craving chicken like crazy, and I gave Greedy's a shot: Holy $#*¥! Greedys chicken was DOPE. Haha. Honest to god, it's the best chicken I've ever eaten. It's got something in the breading that puts it over the top. Some voodoo salty spicy goodness that makes me never want to stop eating it. I took an order of chicken strips back to work and shared with a few coworkers - the general consensus was that, indeed, that was the best chicken strips they had ever had. I probably made a lot of customers for Greedys that day. We all commented on the special magic coating...it is something special. And now I'm out a few days, and keep thinking about that chicken...those hand-cut fries....just wow. And the order of 5 strips was a laughable $6. It was more food than anyone but a glutton vegan on a protein bender could eat. So now every day I'm faced with the decision of my bland vegetables from home for lunch, or walking those few steps to Greedys. It's right next door to a church- and the chicken is like a religious experience.

For our appetizer we ordered Firecracker shrimp, Fried green tomatoes, and Sweet potato muffins. We also had the complimentary corn bread. The appetizers and sweet potatoes muffins were delicious. The cornbread was dense and okay. For our main course we ordered turkey chops, and they came with two sides. We chose mac and cheese and red beans and rice. The turkey chops were ok but the sides were trash. The red beans and rice were (see picture) dry and the macaroni and cheese (see pictures) as well. The mac and cheese was cheeseless. We also ordered the catfish dinner with okra and yams. The yams were delicious and the okra was okay. The catfish skin was dark like old oil was used. It appeared to be cornmeal fried and hard. I should have specified how I wanted them. We also order the waffle and the chickens and there were no complaints. Honestly, we've been to Cornbread many times. Previously, I've always given 5 stars and haven't ever had any complaints but something drastically changed. The drinks as well didn't taste the same and we were told that the bartender was new. We didn't want to complain or send our food back due to our past experiences at other restaurants but we did take pictures. The service was great. But honestly, I do not believe that we will ever return.

First, the restaurant is up two flights of steps and there is no elevator. I injured my knee and walked up the stairs. Second, when I was seated and shown the menu, I was shocked at the very limited options. They only offer white- meat chicken, no rice or plain sides. I was going to try the greens but the server said they put vinegar on them which I don't care for. The Brussels sprouts with corn is a hard pass. I had no other choice but ordered something that I would never put together as a meal: fried catfish, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts with corn. The fish was fried hard and needed seasoning and the sprouts were forgettable. They brought out hot sauce on the side assuming all people want hot/ spicy food. I wanted tartar sauce and they didn't have a traditional sauce- they had a " Cajun- style sauce." My friend had a crab cake for $25. When I called about parking, the hostess mentioned the cash lot behind the restaurant and.a parking structure across the street. She didn't mention that it was extremely expensive, I paid $24.49 for 1 hour and 6 minutes in the structure. Oh, I almost forgot that they added a 20% gratuity automatically for a party of 2! So, overall, my catfish dinner, 1 crab cake appetizer, and $2 up charge for the Brussels brought my bill to $74. Plus, the $24.49 for parking was a $100 night with no liquor only to have to leave and go eat elsewhere as what I wasted money on left me hungry and unsatisfied for sure.
