Great stick to your ribs soul food! This location is in the Lee Harvard Shopping Center around the corner from Villa. The restaurant itself isn't much to look at, just a short counter and small dining room with a handful of tables but that doesn't matter because the fried chicken is amazing! It's just like Gladys and Ron's in Atlanta! It's moist and tender and not too greasy. You can get it in dark or white meat, thighs and legs or breasts and wings. Besides fried chicken Angie's offers catfish, whiting, tilapia, perch, salmon croquettes, shrimp, beef tips, pork chops, oxtails and beef and short ribs. Some of the sides offered are black eye peas, cabbage, yams, mac & cheese, potato salad, green beans and collard greens. Everything is fresh! Nothing is canned. Their waffles are outstanding as well! The only bad thing I can say about Angie's is that their cordbread muffins are a little dry. The restaurant itself was pretty bare. Customers don't linger either, they order their food at the counter and wait for it to be prepared then leave. Insider tip: Make sure to ask for some hot sauce for your fried chicken. They keep it behind the counter. While Angie's fried chicken doesn't need any condiments to be savored, the house hot sauce adds a welcome kick. Bottom line, For quick, inexpensive and authentic soul food, you can't go wrong with Angie's Soul Cafe. While you can order the same food at various fast food restaurants, you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not visiting Angie's first!

I was pleased to find that it was listed on Uber Eats, which is my preferred ordering platform. Its 4.1-star rating (out of 2,000+ reviews) gave me the assurance I needed that I would have a quality experience, along with an endorsement from Mallory S., a Cleveland Yelper I follow. There was another Zanzibar closer to me--which was the one I originally found--but this location was the only one accepting orders at the time and it had a higher rating. Looking through the menu at Zanzibar, I just could not order from this restaurant without getting the soul rolls. After a thorough search of the menu, I discovered that the standard soul rolls contained chicken, which led me to choose the veggie option--only to find out they were unavailable. Something I could not take my eyes off of was the walleye cakes entrée. It is served with a side of house cajun corn plus a choice of an additional side. The thought of ordering baked macaroni & cheese put a smirk on my face, so I swapped out the cajun corn for it, and then chose collard greens as my additional side. I ordered all of that along with a cornbread muffin! Hey now, I cannot order from a Southern food restaurant and not get cornbread! Whether using Grubhub or, in this case, Uber Eats, I love ordering online because it is so convenient. Much praise to my Uber Eats delivery driver, Julian, for arriving at a reasonable time and meeting me in front of the hotel. Julian also made sure to confirm my identity before handing over the food, which I cannot thank him enough for. Oh, the wonderful smell of Southern food! I could not help but smell my order while riding the elevator up to my hotel room. I was very satisfied with the presentation of it, which had generous portions for the price I paid. The walleye cakes had a flavor my taste buds absolutely loved; they had a slight kick, but nothing unbearable. The addition of red bell pepper and green herbs complemented the dish perfectly. I would definitely order it again if I saw it on a restaurant menu. It honestly had me dancing in between bites! The macaroni and cheese had my mouth watering for more. It was a perfect blend of cheesy, buttery goodness, and it was clearly baked! My mouth watered at the first bite of the collard greens, which thankfully did not have chunks of meat inside. That was something I worried about prior to ordering, based on a past experience at another Southern food restaurant. They were so good--perfectly smoky, savory, and a little bit tangy. Mmm...Need I say anything about the cornbread muffins? They were the icing on the cake to top off this satisfying meal and the last thing I ate. It was the best cornbread muffin I have had in a while, and that is no exaggeration. If you are undecided on what to order at Zanzibar, I highly recommend this meal because it will surely leave you satisfied and possibly dancing. Alright now, Zanzibar! You have won over this Midwest traveler from Chicago. Because I had a great ordering experience, I would surely order from Zanzibar Soul Fusion again--whether via Uber Eats delivery or takeout--whenever I visit Cleveland. I don't think there's table service. The decor does not have artsy metals and hand blown glass accents. By the same way of thinking, every food truck and street food joint would be bad. Big Al's in Larchmere would be avoided and the Sokolowskis would have been closed decades ago. "Ashley" said nothing about the food, man! She had problems with containers and condiments! Restaurants are about the food! My experience with this place starts at work: a coworker was eating a mammoth sized portion of fettuccine Alfredo-looking stuff and I asked her where she got it. She said "Greedys" and pointed in the direction of the place. "I call ahead like 15 minutes and walk over to get it. This is like $10 and I can eat it for dinner too, there's so much You should try it. I go there twice a week, at least." Being a vegan on the east side is rough, and I'm the worst vegan ever, so when I cheat, I don't hold back. The next day I was craving chicken like crazy, and I gave Greedy's a shot: Holy $#*¥! Greedys chicken was DOPE. Haha. Honest to god, it's the best chicken I've ever eaten. It's got something in the breading that puts it over the top. Some voodoo salty spicy goodness that makes me never want to stop eating it. I took an order of chicken strips back to work and shared with a few coworkers - the general consensus was that, indeed, that was the best chicken strips they had ever had. I probably made a lot of customers for Greedys that day. We all commented on the special magic coating...it is something special. And now I'm out a few days, and keep thinking about that chicken...those hand-cut fries....just wow. And the order of 5 strips was a laughable $6. It was more food than anyone but a glutton vegan on a protein bender could eat. So now every day I'm faced with the decision of my bland vegetables from home for lunch, or walking those few steps to Greedys. It's right next door to a church- and the chicken is like a religious experience.
