If there is a food heaven, this is the opposite. Recommended by a local saying that we should sit outside because we may see a bald eagle. After getting our seat and seeing three groups waited on before we even got our water, I finally asked someone if we could get our order. That should have been our sign. I ordered a beer and ended up going back into the building and getting it myself (Sign 2). I ordered the chicken parm based on our waitresses recommendation. It was so salty I could have exfoliated my feet with it! The catfish and shrimp my husband ordered was dry and overcooked. The service was even worse than the food. Best Restaurant meal ever! We visited Mountain View over the weekend and had dinner at Anglers. I ordered the blackened trout and it was delicious. It was perfectly cooked with an herb butter sauce. The fresh vegetable side was green and yellow squash with red bell pepper strips exquisitely seasoned and grilled. Even the side salad was crisp and fresh served with a good quality Blue Cheese dressing. We eat out a lot here in Springfield, MO, and this meal far surpassed anything I have eaten in a restaurant in a long time. Stephanie, our server, was delightful and helpful. read more

Had dinner here the other night while vacationing in the Mountain View area. The service was absolute perfection! The staff were all friendly, helpful and accommodating! They were all busting their tails too! We had the pork tenderloin sandwich, which was outstanding! We also had "The Duo", which was two pieces of catfish and fried shrimp. It came with hush puppies, slaw, tomato salad, brown beans, and a side (I chose the fried okra). I could have eaten my body weight in the beans! They were fantastic! I can't say enough good things. The tomato salad was unique. The fried okra was very tasty. I felt like the catfish and the shrimp could have been in the fryer a bit longer. Neither seemed quite crispy enough for me. The catfish especially seemed a bit soggy and it contained the dark places that makes it taste muddy. I was not a fan...despite the County being a "dry county", Angler's serves beer, wine and a few cocktails. I would go back and probably just order a big ol' bowl of beans! read more

Visited with a large party around 4:30 in the afternoon. Was promptly seated. Ordered the medium catfish and it was excellent! I'm pretty picky so for what it's worth. The hush puppies and pinto beans were really good too. Prices very reasonable. Fed 2 kids and myself for $33 or so. View in the restaurant is gorgeous! read more

We came here for dinner on a Sunday and it was not too crowded. It is in the back of a fishing store so don't be thrown off. They had one TV off in the corner that was showing sports and one in the bar area. This is a dry county so you have to be a member for them to serve you alcohol. Have no fear, a membership is free and just a quick form (name and address) away. They do not verify any of the information. We were seated at a window table with a great view of the river. I had the burger with everything and it was pretty good. They were good about our substitutions. The drinks were priced low at $3 for a Fat Tire draft. The cook came out to say hi and our server was very personable. The service was excellent and we were happy to leave the her a little extra. read more

We had the catfish dinner here and it was excellent! Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding. My husband has to have gluten free food and they perfectly understood what he needed to avoid. He had blackened catfish and said it was the best meal he had had in months! Very unassuming place from the outside but once you get in the food, portions, and view of the river was great. Indoor and outdoor seating with attentive staff taking care of you. We had the catfish medium plate and the bacon wrapped shrimp and it was delicious. The desserts looked delicious, but our stomaches were full. I have eaten here twice in the past 2 weeks. The service and the food were good both times. I had a steak first then a chopped steak. We came for a day of kayaking on the White River to celebrate our anniversary and decided to check out the restaurant when we got done, we heard the restaurant had good food from locals and since we had over an hour drive home we decided to give it a shot! AND IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Both my husband and I got burgers, a Sylamore and a Mushroom Swiss. We got choc cake to go (so I can scavenge on it at home in my sweat pants). First of all, ignore the map showing the location in Yelp. It's actually a little north of Mountain View at the corner of AR-5 and AR-9/AR-14. AR-9 heads east over the White River. Look for Anglers White River Resort (a motel and fishing store). The restaurant is in the back of the store. The staff was friendly but not super attentive. I think they were just understaffed for the day, but it was a week night and the place was less than half full. Maybe they're just slow? The view of the river was nice. The food was just okay. I had fish tacos and my wife had fried catfish. We only ate there because by the time we got into town (5pm) most of the places were closed. Considering how hard it was to find this place and how the food was, I think we would have done better just staying in town and eating at Sonic. read more

My wife and I had a great dinner at Anglers! A little concerned at first glance (the exterior is very unassuming and basically just looks like a big gas station), we were both pleasantly surprised at what we found inside. Set back from the convenience store/gift shop that you first walk into, the restaurant itself has a very cool log cabin vibe about it, with a spectacular view of the adjoining river, with both inside and outside deck seating. Our server, Chris, was super attentive and eager to help us with any questions we may have about the surprisingly diverse menu options. We started out the meal with an app of fried pickle chips, which were a bit different in that they were long, spear shaped chips. Tons of greasy goodness. I had the chicken fried chicken, with mashed potatoes and fried okra. HUGE portions and all very tasty. My wife got the crab cakes, which she said were really good but, due to being deep fried, she asked Chris to tack on a side salad to our bill to help her offset some of the grease, which he did super speedily. All in all, we had a great meal and debated on getting one of the very tempting desserts to go but decided against it. This time. And the one big cherry on top of all this was that Chris the in my wife's post order requested side salad at no extra cost! Review is for the restaurant only. Nice location and atmosphere overlooking the White River. Staff was friendly. Waitress was new and inexperienced, but did OK. The menu has all the staples you'd expect, catfish, chicken fried steak, burgers, shrimp, and quite a number of other items. Prices are on the up side of reasonable, but still within that range. Catfish sandwich very good, served with tastless slaw. Salad bar/boat had standard items, all of which were fresh. Pricing a little confusing on the salad bar. Full all you can eat salad bar is $8.99. A one trip salad bar is $3.99. If you order an entree, then you may substitute your side (from a list of several) for one trip to salad bar for $2.99 extra, or you can order a "side salad" as your side, which is made in the kitchen and not from the goodies on the salad bar. Very odd pricing. The meat was a little too fatty on a friend's French Dip, and she didn't eat much of it. Chicken Fried Steak was large, but my other friend left half of it on the plate, which is very unlike him, but he didn't comment on it. One of the best Country restaurants I have ever chowed down at. I had the Catfish /Shrimp Platter which was excellent but it also came with Cowboy beans. They sure was good. My beautiful wife ordered the blackened Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo and it was also excellent. Best of all they have a full bar and the only one in the county! Neighboring tables had Cheeseburgers and Surf and Turf and that looked mighty tasty. Top it off with great service from Haley and it was an outstanding dining experience! read more

Great view dining al fresco on the back deck, and lovely wait staff. Ate there twice in one weekend; first night was decent food, but the second night was superb. We both ordered fish tacos--one order with grilled whitefish and one with fried catfish. I know my catfish, and this was likely the best I've ever had...light cornmeal crust, perfectly seasoned, tender and mild fillets--sublime. Pro tip: this is the only place in Mt. View where you can order adult beverages. :) read more

I ordered the catfish, shrimp and crab cake platter. Fries are your typical frozen fries and so is the crab cakes. The shrimp tasted just like Seapak frozen shrimp and werent cooked long enough leaving the crust to be mostly uncooked batter. The fish is the only thing that seemed to be in house battered and its batter wasnt cooked all the way. The staff is super friendly and the place is clean and thats the only reason for 2 stars because the food isnt worthy of any stars read more

I was there over an hour. The 10 minute wait was really 20. Sat at the table for 40 minutes and left before I saw the basket of fried food I ordered. When the waitress brought our drinks, she sat them down without saying a word or offering an appetizer. Came back after giving the two of us AMPLE time to decide what we wanted. I made eye contact with her after sitting for quite some time after placing our order. She said she would check. She came back, apologized and cited a large group of 12 people as the reason for our food delay. This was the group she ran to serve after she threw our drinks on the table and walked away. Im observant. As we were leaving the waitress said 'it hasn't even been 20 minutes'. Well it definitely had been but she spoke as if waiting 20 minutes+ for fried catfish was standard. I understand busy... I just wish she would have tried to make us feel as important as the group of 12 she was so quick to serve. My advice is go to JoJos. read more

Stopped here for lunch one day, and we were very glad we did! Very nice dining room with a great view of the river, and really good service. The menu had a great selection to choose from, and the three of us all had something different. All three items, fish, taco salad and bbq sandwich were awesome. The price was really good too. Just not good. Ordered the fried catfish with sides. Wait staff was non attentive. Had to flag someone down 3 times during a 60 minute visit. At one point, a plate was removed from the table and lifted over my drink, dropping table crumbs into it. Now let's get to the food. Not a grain of salt 1 made it onto my plate before it arrived to me. Keep in mind, I had fried catfish, French Fries, hush puppies along with standard catfish sides. All of these things require salt during preparation. My mother, who thinks everything is too salty, salted everything on her plate. The fish was soggy and wet and the breading fell off when you tried to pick it up. The fries were good. But they needed salt, which is hard to add once they have cooled down a bit. If i had to guess, "fancy ketchup" was poured into old Heinz 57 bottles. But that's just a guess and I could be wrong. Anyway, I won't be back. It wasn't good. read more

Our daughter took us there for father's day. the food was good when we got it after a 45 mim. wait, one plate was not even order. the waitress was inexperienced and made a mess when she spiled water on my plate. never came back to fill son-n-law's coffee kept saying she would be right back three times no coffee yet. live music was to loud could not hear the person beside you talking. The food is always good but the service this time was very bad. I hope the service does improve if we try them again. The salad bar price is too high for such standard items. Cole slaw needs more dressing very dry. read more
