One of the nicest bike shops I've ever patronized. Rented two E-bikes for the day. All aspects went smoothly. Staff at pick up and drop off excellent. Highly recommend!

Haven't really had a road bike since my chrome Scwhinn at UC Davis in 1999. But after a weekend of biking in Oregon last weekend, I got the bug back.  Stephen at Angry Catfish was absolutely fabulous. I did some cursory Internet research before calling him, at which point I got a very educational 10-minute earful. (Dude knows how to handle a phone up.) Within half an hour of arrival to Angry Catfish (even with covid precautions), I was on a test ride. I rode another bike after the All City Zig Zag just to be sure I was ready to drop $4k. I had a great experience riding and put my card down---and then I went home and obsessively researched. (Yes, I know that's backwards.) Should I have gotten a carbon one? For this kind of money should I get something else? Should I wait? Should I fly to Oregon or Colorado and have some artisan measure me up for a custom machine made of unobtanium? (Nah. I'm a regular size, and I can always go completely insane later.) What I found out was that everything Stephen had said was true and met my needs.  Today, I got a very detailed, thoughtful delivery by Stephen and Eric, and every detail I'd mentioned Saturday was dialed in and perfectly installed before I got there. They made sure the GPS talked to my phone, that the seat was exactly the right height, and that all my flat-tire stuff was packed. Then, they fixed my kid's bike while I was standing there.  I can be hard on merchants. My mom is a Karen. A dealer messed up the delivery of my SUV so badly a few years ago a guy got fired over it. (No, I did not ask for that...) What I'm saying is that it's really a great experience to walk in fat, dumb, and happy and leave informed and content.  Oh, and I got a ton of compliments on my bike today. I named her Sassette---the orange, magical smurf.

This is a bit confusing, the bike shop is on E 42nd and the coffee shop (which I was looking for) is just around the corner, called Northern Coffeehouse. I enjoyed their funky North Woods Cold Brew and may just happen by again in the near future.

Catfish was super helpful in getting my rig set up, in moving back to MN my tools got lost in transit and they were able to help get me rolling again. Super reasonable pricing and very communicative, one thing I really appreciate is the documentation on the receipt. After buying this bike at Erik's and being dismayed with their service Dept and sales, Angry Catfiah has won the rest of the work as my go to shop.

I really enjoyed my visit to Angry Catfish! Angry Catfish is a quirky, but charming cafe and bike shop combo. It has a very odd interior, but it feels warm and inviting. There is a variety of seating (couches, tables, etc) to serve anyone's needs. The menu is a little different than the average cafe, but I enjoyed my molasses latte nonetheless. There was only one barista, but they were very efficient and friendly. The coffee was delicious, but I loved the vibe of the cafe even more. It seemed very laid back and welcoming, and it was a perfect place to catch up with a friend! I'd definitely recommend Angry Catfish for anyone looking for a new, maybe a little hipster, coffee shop.

COOL. Good (and interesting) coffee drinks (albeit small menu). A handful of baked goods under glass. Service isn't fast but vibe is chill. Lots of seating options. Comfortable.

I'm reviewing the coffee side of the business. The bicycle side looks pretty legit, but I came in for the caffeine. This shop serves Inteligencia, Ruby, and at least one other roaster's coffee. They offer the standard assortment of classic drinks and some specialties of their own. The Cortado I ordered was very well prepared and was very tasty. My usual milk is non-fat, which they don't carry. Instead I had it with regular milk. Almond was the other available option. Along with coffees they have a case with pastries, a selection of chocolates and confections, and an isle of standard cycling snacks like Honey Stingers.

Bikes & specialty coffee live in harmony in this darling shop. This place has way more seating than you'd think and it's so cozy that you won't want to leave. The industrial vibe mixed with tasty Intelligentista coffee makes for a perfect morning pick-me-up. They have some Baker's Wife baked goods but they're also two doors down if they don't have what you want/need.

I purchased my Tern GSD here, and have had it and many other cycles serviced here many times. They've always done right by me. They were fantastic for the bike purchase: they let me spend hours test riding different models, and their extensive advice about configuring the Tern was 100% spot on -- from big stuff like the tradeoffs between rear rack / seat options down to tiny details like getting a quick-release key clip on my keyring for the wheel lock key. Wait times for a full service can be long: schedule in advance! You may find cheaper tune-ups elsewhere, but at Perennial you'll get more than your money's worth. They've always been really thorough and thoughtful, tracing subtle noise issues to the root (like the fact that I had the front and back wheels swapped on a bike where they're actually infinitesimally different sizes!). They've made some preventative suggestions that were spot on, such as a nonstandard front mud flap to protect the e-bike motor in winter riding. It's a small shop, and the accessory selection is pretty small. If you want a helmet, for example, you might find more choices elsewhere. But if you want to purchase or service a bike, this is a great place!

I have been a longtime customer of Perennial Cycle and have spent a significant amount of money…read morehere over the years, including purchasing a Yuba Spicy Curry and accessories totaling at least $7,000. Most recently, I came in with my daughter on my Tern HSD to buy several accessories: a Tern Captain's Chair, Tern front loader basket, Tern saddle, and a Yuba Crescent handlebar. The total after tax was $643.12. I rode the bike there specifically because these are cargo bike accessories and fit matters. After purchasing them, I asked whether the shop could install them, since the items clearly would not fit on the bike otherwise and I needed to get home with my daughter. I did not receive a clear answer about whether installation was available, whether there would be a fee, or whether they had time to do it that day. Instead, the interaction became confusing and uncomfortable. I was willing to install the parts myself on site, and I had an Allen wrench with me. I only needed to borrow a 10 mm wrench briefly to hold the nuts that came with the accessories. From across the store, a mechanic I had not interacted with shouted that they "don't rent out tools for stuff like that." I explained that I had just spent over $600 in the store, had spent thousands there previously, and simply needed a basic tool for a short time so I could safely get home with the accessories I had just purchased. The salesperson still could not give me a clear answer and seemed not to understand what tool I was asking for. I ultimately said that I could either return the items or borrow the tool for about 20 minutes. They refused to lend me the tool, so I returned the entire purchase and left. What bothered me most was not just the refusal. It was the lack of clear communication, the dismissive tone, and the unwillingness to help solve a very basic problem for a customer who had just made a substantial purchase and had a child with them. I have worked in bike shops myself, and my experience has always been that shops help customers with newly purchased accessories, especially when the issue is as simple as installing a few bolts or briefly lending a common hand tool. I left feeling like my business and loyalty did not matter. I expected much better from a shop that specializes in exactly these kinds of bikes and accessories.
