Newborn photos are an investment and require quite a bit of planning, especially at a time when you're low on energy and time (i.e. right before and after welcoming a new baby). I never did a newborn session with my first child and always wished I had sucked it up and planned for one, so when Baby #2 was due, I did a lot of research online until I found Ani. She was great to coordinate with via email and phone and was a total pro. She helped guide us through what we needed to do to prepare for a successful session and truly listened to what we wanted. She offered expertise and ideas when asked but never pushed for props or aesthetics we didn't want. On the day of the session, Ani was amazing and incredibly patient working with our newborn and captured some beautiful shots. She also accommodated family shots with our older child and a few full family shots, which were included in the package we purchased. The pictures turned out beautifully, and though they were great as they were, she also provided subtle editing and retouching that helped everything look its very best. We opted not to purchase prints since we couldn't commit to what we wanted at the time, but the digital delivery was great for us. Knowing that neither my husband or myself were great with photos and cameras, we knew that we wanted to make an investment to capture our two daughters in their amazing baby goodness. We were worried about COVID safety and Ani was recommended as having excellent COVID protocols. We loved her website and reached out. She was super responsive and an extremely clear communicator. About 6 weeks before our daughter was born, my wife and I decided we wanted to have newborn photos taken, and I contacted 3 newborn photographers in our area, based on a Google search and after looking at their respective website portfolios. One of them was Ani Tsatourian. In fairness, all 3 of these photographers were excellent, having done amazing work. I had never seen anything so stunning. Next, I contacted all 3 of them through their website contact portals. One photographer emailed me back with information and pricing Another photographer had a huge staff with photographers trained in her method and style, and one of her office assistants emailed me back. It was very impersonal, and it was extremely expensive to hire the actual owner photographer. One of her staff photographers was the best I could hope to afford. There were a few things that made Ani stand out as clearly the best. First of all, Ani CALLED me herself, and we spoke for 30 minutes about who we were and what we were hoping to achieve in working with her. She wanted to know all about our family before we even talked about the session. Ani approaches her work with a personal touch that is beyond anything you have ever experienced. After our conversation, she sent me pricing and package information, and she never gave any pressure to choose her. We had another conversation a few days later, and I booked our session with her. She was extremely flexible with customizing a package that fit our needs and scheduling a session date. One thing that I'm sure many people don't realize is that babies don't come on their due date and the photographers want to shoot the sessions within the first 5-10 days after the birth. Ani worked with our family and work schedules to make this happen. On the session day, we were the only session on her schedule. She took the time that was needed to get every setup we had discussed. Our daughter was a little fussy that day, and Ani was so patient and so wonderful. It is a very detailed process to get these shots, and we trusted her fully with our newborn daughter and dressing her for every pose. I don't write many Yelp reviews. It really isn't my thing.
